- Tampa Bay and Seattle Seahawks Played in Germany which was held in Munich’s Allianz Arena on 11.13.2022 where almost 75,000 fans sang "Country Road" all together. Epic environment.

Imagine my surprise when this Yank stepped into the entertainment tent at the Cowal Highland Games in Scotland only to witness a rock band (and audience) belting out Country Roads (!!).
Was lucky enough to get to know John back in Aspen in the late seventies. I think this would have amazed him.

I went to German school in the 60s and 70s and we had music class twice a week. Germans are very good musicians.

@@coffeedenise786 HEY mostly? Forget about it, there were people from all over Europe, surely some Americans, but those are EASY 60-70%+ germans. You can hear it by our terrible accent, while still singing very loud :)

My paternal grandparents were from West Virginia, and with the exception of my Ireland-born great-grandfather, my paternal ancestors were there before it was a state. McDowell and Raleigh counties.

A lot of Europeans speak English. For that matter English is a Germanic Language with a few small changes to learn they can learn it pretty quick.
Its not that surprising that this happened in Munich. This song as well as other American standards are played during Oktoberfest celebrations along with German folk songs. So everyone has sung it at some point in their life. Probably multiple times while super drunk, lol.

They do this in certain usa Canada stadiums for occasions. Boston sports teams do sweet caroline and special songsbon for occasions. West virginia football plays this song post wins blues hockey plays this 3rd periods.

What is weak about it? It doesn't matter if 10 or 1 million were singing it, the point is they sang it. And this American whose paternal grandparents were born in West Virginia and lay buried in West Virginia with great-grandparents and great-great grandparents, and those who were there long before it was a state, appreciate the gesture.
@@moorek1967 My mother was born and raised in WV. A Lot of people think that only rednecks/hillbillies live there, and this couldn't be further from the truth. Like you, I have many relatives of my mother's buried there Veterans back to WW1). It is a beautiful state with happy and generous people!

Best in what? There are actually statistics proving you wrong in different instances. Anyway, not wanting to take away your opinion, if you love living there, you do you. I‘ve lived in Florida a couple months, met amazing people and had a great time. Yet there are just to many social factors where I simply prefer Germany (which doesn’t mean I think it‘s perfect here!)
The most innovative and successful and thriving and strong. And we work hard. Other countries are so bitter and resentful. All I can say is if you don't like my comment you can bypass it. If my comment bothers you then work on your own country to make it thrive.
