Same I'm a kid right now and I listen to some current pop songs but I have a deep love for Elton John, Beatles, Queen, stuff like that. I'm an old soul. There are only few of my kind that are my age
Depends on your age, I was luck enough to grow up in the 90's. The new music that decade was amazing! Still, no denying my fandom of Sir Elton! The mans a master of the craft!
Even though I wasn't alive then, this makes me nostalgic for 1970's southern California. Conjures imagery of people on the beach, maybe in bell bottoms, warm days smoking outside of a record studio, etc. Music is a crazy thing, man.
Lmao I listen to chorus less songs that range from 6-11 minutes long. If you think waiting for a chorus is really that hard to call it a "true test of patients" I think you might have some problems to work out.

I read a Reddit post that said, people who have the ability to feel music enough to FEEL the music in their emotions and all, that not everyone has that. And you should be grateful bc we don’t experience music the same everyone else:)
One of the most incredible songs of all time. ...music and lyrics are so strictly connected to create a deep sense of missing someone you love, without feeling any need to be sad about it but only really nostalgic....thanx elton
Fun fact: In the new Rocketman movie, Taren Egerton plays Elton. Coincidentally, Egerton also played Johnny the gorilla in the movie Sing, where he sang the song, Im Still Standing. Also an Elton song. How cool is that?
Apparently tarpon singing I’m still standing in sing is why he landed the spot, the director saw it and auditioned him because of his role in sing, pretty neat
Also Elton was in Kingman 2 the golden circle in which taron is also in it lol these two seem destined to be linked in films one way or another and I love it
Bruh I noticed that like a year ago and wondered that they’re related. To my surprise they weren’t related. Also ur forgetting that Elton John was in the Kingsman: The Golden Circle with Taron Egerton.
My ex and I used to have this as 'our song'.. When we had broken up, he sent me this song of course saying "I want my tiny dancer back" ... We never could go back, we tried, but this song always reminds me of the love we did share way before it was time to move on. **A shout out to all those who have just gotten over a break up or going through one feeling and are feeling a bit lost xx There is light at the end, just keep searching peeps ☺️✌️ ☀️

him and his songwriter? You're talking about the legendary Bernie Taupin. And, by the way, Bernie was never in the studios. Wrote lyrics and Elton took it from there to put music in the words.
Perfection.... I feel every emotion listening to this...love, anguish, fear, absolute beauty...and so much more...all in the pit of my stomach... THANK You Sir Elton and Bernie....

I was 7 or 8 when this hit the airwaves. It enhanced my childhood to have great songs like this providing the soundtrack. The best songs were brilliant. Masterpieces that get better with age. With lyrics that grab you later in life. Saturated with nostalgia. But meaningful in their own right.
Rat Man I am the same way. I mostly like Metal and Rap but as I've got older I like more different music. I fell in love with this song because of Almost Famous the movie.
Elton and Bernie had the best written songs of the 70s! Even to this day they all stand up to the test of time. The talent of Elton is so underappreciated in today’s musical world. I remember listening to his songs on the radio and then by buying the albums. Even if you didn’t like the song if you listen to it a few times you still realize it was awesomely great. Elton is a true icon and in a very small group of legends. Not unlike Tom Petty or Edward van Halen. I think I’m going to go listen to my Goodbye Yellowbrick Road album now. Which happens to be the first album I ever bought when I was around 12 years old. I bought it for Bennie and the jets. And what a jackpot that album turned out to be as far as great music. Thank you Elton for the hundreds of great well written songs.
When music was real and tasteful. This song strikes a chord deep in the heart and the instrumentation has a tremendous amount of substance. Enjoy this music because it will never be the same again.
Shut up. Elton John him self would litterally disagree with you. He is the first to promote new and modern talented artists because YES, they still exist. But I agree, this song is pretty fucking amazing
@@aka.gnese07 I have listened to & do listen to a *LOT* of music both professionally, I'm a professional guitarist, & for pleasure & - in my opinion - there was no era like this for music. Rock was new & everything effectively post 1980 was really flogging a very tired horse. To keep the equine references going, you then had one trick dancing ponies like Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, Michael Jackson, etc. who swapped musical integrity for £'s in sinking music to its lowest common denominator. Modern music has been broken down to its key components & has nowhere near the melodic complexity or structural intensity of music from this era. There are some contemporary people I like - *Father John Misty* is a genius but generally my playlist doesn't get much past the 80's.
@@aka.gnese07 what he would disagree with is ANYONE being RUDE, or not allowing any given person to express their opinion about their likes,or dislikes. This Era of musicality, and artistry will never be duplicated. Times, and music change. That is a fact of life. It was very special, and I'm so happy to have grown up with GREAT SINGERS AND MUSICIANS ! I don't mean to be rude by saying this, but has anyone ever taught you that if you don't have anything good to say, it's much better to remain silent ? You just sounded like such a mean person by saying "shut up"
@@pollyyoung7649 I apologize for that, you're right. I shouldn't have been so rude. I was trying to defend young people like me and I got offensive, sorry, but I still stand by what I said in the last comment, in the sense that we should NEVER discredit young modern artits. But now I also understand you're point, like this era of music will never be the same, but I also think that's beautiful because this era had a beggining a long time ago and it makes sense that now it's ended to let other genres and sounds grow into the history of music that are just as valid and beautiful. I want to be clear about that. I don't like the mentality of appreciating only "the good old times" 's art, just because when you were youg that's what you've learned to love and maybe you are not keen to understand the new generation's music (referring to the person I replyed to in the first comment) Also I'm not a native english speaker and a teenager and I'm sorry if I made mistakes
@@aka.gnese07 I think you may be right although you have to dig a lot deeper into the hills of modern music to find the gold. I am now officially getting old having just turned 60 but I have a son probably not far off your age who seems to think music had a lot more meaning & often stories attached to it back in the day. Two examples of this would be 4 songs he's been listening to of late from two artists. *Neil Young's* amazing "Alabama" & "Southern Man" were what caused *Lynyrd Skynyrd* to write "Sweet Home Alabama," Neil Young even gets called out in the song! The other example would be *James Taylor's* subliminal "Fire and Rain" written about the suicide of a close female friend. I don't know.... Things just had an integrity & authenticity to them back then & maybe a novel freshness & originally as Rock was only really a decade or so old! I even think music took the southern trajectory I think it is still on in the 80's when people started making music for the financial gain it could give them & maybe a perceived transient fame? It's just that people were consummate musicians & word smiths back in the day? Well done for apologising btw & congratulations on the use of my nation's language. 👍

Same I'm a kid right now and I listen to some current pop songs but I have a deep love for Elton John, Beatles, Queen, stuff like that. I'm an old soul. There are only few of my kind that are my age
Lillian Fetterly yOu ArE sO cOoL
Depends on your age, I was luck enough to grow up in the 90's. The new music that decade was amazing! Still, no denying my fandom of Sir Elton! The mans a master of the craft!
Preach it sister
Lillian Fetterly god your so cool for letting everyone know your an old soul
Even though I wasn't alive then, this makes me nostalgic for 1970's southern California. Conjures imagery of people on the beach, maybe in bell bottoms, warm days smoking outside of a record studio, etc. Music is a crazy thing, man.
Good music seems to capture and embody the times they were made

waiting for the chorus is a test of true patience
Lol yea
Lmao I listen to chorus less songs that range from 6-11 minutes long. If you think waiting for a chorus is really that hard to call it a "true test of patients" I think you might have some problems to work out.

She just died?......
Wow. I didn't know that, you're telling me now for the first time.

The same happens to me, my dad was named Levon after the other song, this song makes me cry with joy. Im 13 and im so glad I know this song.

@@cryptic9807 He did do an amazing job, Im not surprised.
Also Elton was in Kingman 2 the golden circle in which taron is also in it lol these two seem destined to be linked in films one way or another and I love it
That’s really cool actually
Bruh I noticed that like a year ago and wondered that they’re related. To my surprise they weren’t related. Also ur forgetting that Elton John was in the Kingsman: The Golden Circle with Taron Egerton.
My ex and I used to have this as 'our song'..

I have listened to & do listen to a *LOT* of music both professionally, I'm a professional guitarist, & for pleasure & - in my opinion - there was no era like this for music.
I don't like the mentality of appreciating only "the good old times" 's art, just because when you were youg that's what you've learned to love and maybe you are not keen to understand the new generation's music (referring to the person I replyed to in the first comment)
Also I'm not a native english speaker and a teenager and I'm sorry if I made mistakes
@@aka.gnese07
I think you may be right although you have to dig a lot deeper into the hills of modern music to find the gold.

***** raykowski13 so what you are saying is that they have no right to state their opinions/thoughts on the internet but you are allowed to drag them down for it? why not try and be more positive instead of straight up bullies? jsyk you can dedicate any song to anyone. thats why there is a such thing as sayings like "this is our song" or "this is my jam" it doesnt mean you had any part in the production or distribution of the song it means that the song is meaningful to you and you wish to use it to share your feelings with someone. thats all it means. so stop your negativity and bugger off because all you are doing is making yourselves look like self absorbed assholes.
