  • Josh Berry joins the show and Dale Earnhardt Jr. relives how he discovered Berry as a driver in a very unconventional way.
Berry shares his origin story, discussing how losing his mom at a young age completely changed his life. Then how he and his dad racing helped them overcome the tragic loss. Josh shares how he ascended from racing at the local level to get bigger opportunities. Plus, why his path to this victory involved a decade of work in the shop.
Find out why the 30-year-old almost gave up on his chances of making it in NASCAR last year while wrestling with making big life and career decisions. Then hear how everything changed a day after coming to that realization.
Listen to the full episode with Josh on DirtyMoMedia.com or any podcasting platform.

That was a great interview. It shows what an amazing leader Dale Jr is in that he recognized Josh's talent, put him in position and gave him access but didn't do it for him. Josh had to work, learn, practice, fail, learn some more and experience success along the way. I appreciate this unique look into Josh's career and ultimately the insight into why JRM is so successful....although it's no surprise. Dale Jr is a great leader!

Hi, Dale. I love your channel. I always thought you were a great driver, but I especially admire the off off-track Dale Jr. The things you are accomplishing and the man you have become are something to be proud of. Coming from such a racing heritage, one could understand if you were full of yourself. But that is not the case with you. You are so humble and so respectful of others, and so mindful of the beginnings of NASCAR and its history. I am really happy that folks can see the real you on your podcasts. I really believe that folks who were not Dale Jr. fans when you drove, just might be converted if they watched your videos and followed the things you are doing now. We need more like you. BTW, I was a Jeff Gordon fan.

When Josh was talking about the loss of his Mom, Dale didn't try to interject his experience with losing a parent and make it about himself at all.

Josh Berry has enough talent and experience that I think he's deserving of a full-time XFINITY ride and possibly a full-time Cup ride, it's not as common these days, but rookies used to come in in their 30s. Both Earnhardt and Biffle did, Reutimann was 38. It's not impossible to start that late in Cup and enjoy a relatively successful career if it's the right combination of driver, team, car.

The iracing community is not that good. Maybe to real nascar drivers but if you're new and start winning the guys that has been on there forever will gang up on you and bully you and send tickets in on you to get you into trouble. And when you fight it and prove you didn't do anything wrong iracing doesn't do anything, you still get suspended and if you ticket those guys iracing does nothing. This is why I quit iracing and I was actually pretty good and had a lot of wins.
