ASA, just found your show! I loved it 😍 I agree with all your ideas 😊being rich is not about how much money you make, it is about how you spend your money, when you don’t need something don’t buy it 😂

The pursuit of more for the sake of showing off, especially in desi culture, is what keeps you in debt and poorer. There is a difference between being a conscious spender and cheap!
2015: Topkapi palace in Turkey changed my life. There I visited an exhibit of the things of the Holy Prophet. Seeing the simple and minimalist existence he lived led me to adopt a minimalist lifestyle. I declutterred and downsized. Now I just don’t care about consumerism, brands, or what anyone else thinks of my choices. I am happier for it and recommend others try it out.

    New immigrants, please conserve money
Things one should never buy - buy only if necessary, not just bc it on discount.
Black Friday sales- we end up buying things we don’t need. , Beware of deals , discounts , Boxing Day sales.
Costco- every thing in bulk , so buy only
Don’t eat out, it’s 5 times more costly.--eat home cooked food
    Manage with one car.
Luxury and branded things- if just to show off , then strict no., buy only if it gives value.
Buy second hand things from Facebook marketplace.
Sell unwanted things on the marketplace.
    Subscriptions - avoid

Behroz, I am moving my family this summer to Canada and there we are looking to buy a car. I am more like you and thinking to explore both options of Buying 2nd hand 2 to 3 year old SUV less than 50k driven on cash vs brand new SUV with some down payment to finance for 3 years. What do you suggest is better way to approach and your perosnal experience can help alot.

Hey thanks for reaching out… easy question..
Go for cash and 3 year old… that’s the best value for money…
Also it allows you to borrow more for house if you need to…

I’m also moving in July with family .. same thoughts

    • @NorthAmerican-Desi
      @NorthAmerican-Desi  Před 3 měsíci

@ayeshafarooq6455 yes car buying is an important one… probably second most important one after house…
Also see if you can bring with you driving history from uae that will help reduce your insurance cost..
Cause if you don’t have insurance / driving history here they will assume you are a risky driver and will charge more on insurance at least the initial years till you build a history

I wanna know how did u change your mindset altogether when you moved to north america. I watched Behroz on Wali khan’s channel where he told he was a spendthrift and would even buy a car without thinking and all the Dubai bling that we are used to of!
Because you are used to a certain way of living/ spending patterns in UAE n then to shift that mindset sucj that you even think about whether to buy subscriptions or not, how is it doable? Was his nature not of being a spendthrift n he adopted it and now hes back to being himself or was it just excessive money in Uae? What was it actually?

Because agreed there are much more spending avenues in uae but still everyone has a certain nature (yolo mentality or saving mindset) how did u change that? Were you always the person you are today n just got sucked into dubai bling? Or u mindfully changed your spending patterns/ nature or you just take too much influence from ur surroundings/ social circle n live accordingly? Eg if you move back to Dubai or up your social circle in US , would you still hold onto these spending patterns or will you get sucked into it all over again? When i watch these Canada related videos, i just get skeptical about our move considering we are used to of certain lifestyle in Uae n thats not to showoff but just how we are used to since the beginning(We are Uae based , husband is Canadian n so are kids, i am on PR but not moved back to Canada yet)

That’s a great question and messaging here doesn’t help the answer…
Will make a video on it… but in nut shell… it’s wisdom, reading and self exploration… that’s what’s at the core…
Canada has its challenges but it’s one of the best decisions of my life… you need to be clear on what you want 5/10 years down the lane…
Will also make a video on our decision making process… if that’s something of interest..
      Thanks for commenting

So for us the issue is not to get the nationality, my husband is Pakistani Canadian as he was raised there coz his father did what ppl are doing today i.e immigrating from middle east back in 80’s to Canada n hence they all are Canadians n so our kids have the nationality too! Now since my husband came back to Uae after his studies for work since his parents also lived here after getting the nationality n all, so we have been here ever since n i got my PR under his sponsorship, now thinking of moving back to Vancouver cz kids are growing up, but watching videos about how Canada has no jobs/ lifestyle downgrade to expect when moving back made me ask this question to you!

So whats your opinion on people who already have the citizenship, having a stable job/ lifestyle in Uae is it good time for them to move back now?
