- If you ever wondered what the craziest poker game in LA looks like, look no further. This $5/5/10 Bounty game at The Gardens Casino is the craziest action I've ever seen in my entire life.
The premise: If any player wins consecutive hands in a row, EVERYONE at the table owes them $25.
The outcome: Absolute insanity. People go crazy to try to win the "Bounty".

It is…. Absolutely bonkers. Can be addicting but there’s hardly any rhyme or reason to the game. If you love action, it’s for you, but yeah, not the game where traditional analysis is going to work

if i was playing this game, i would be WIDELY 3 and 4 betting the Small Blind position pre. getting that puck on the button as often as you can is important.
I do agree that getting the puck on the BTN is huge, but people also just don’t seem to fold in this game, so you better be prepared to win your all ins

It is NUTS!!! But pretty dangerous if you’re running bad. I’ve seen players dust off 5-6k in a matter of an hour 😅

Totally 😂 can easily bust a lot of bullets in that game
So this is actually pretty similar to what I experienced in my most recent vlog.....insanity. The guys were straddling and restraddling to 80, 160, 320. I lost my initial 1K buyin and then tried 500 buyins and burned through four of those in a couple of hours to lose 3 grand.
If I could go back and do it again I'd have only bought in for 200 at a time because the variance is insane when 5-6 guys are willing to call raises between 200-600 preflop. So the pot would already be 1-3 thousand going to the flop and no one had any real stack depth to work with, so you had to commit with weaker hands postflop because the pot size was often larger than your remaining stack size.
My thoughts exactly. When people are opening huge and willing to call off, you’re just gonna have to win your flips. So if I bought in $800 each time, I would’ve probably lost 2.5k in the first hour 😅
Plus on this game in particular, whether short stack or deep, the bounty you get remains the same. Even if you have $40, if you win two hands in a row, you can get $175 from the table, so it’s a big incentive for me to try short buys and just pray through the variance

Loving the short buy strat! With as much action there is in that game and people calling $750+ pre with JT suited, there’s bound to be hella variance and bad beats since it’s harder to iso these fools lol. So unless someone has a big roll to mess around with, def love your approach. But wow, what a dream game to be in. Brantzen the 🐐!
Yeah it’s the most bonkers game I’ve ever played, but you still have to win your all ins. Plus I figure that with the bounty incentive, when you’re short stack, if you win two in a row, it’s a HUGE percentage of your stack, so it’s worth it to be short sometimes. No other game could I work $185 up to $2500 or something hahah

Great video and crazy game! With your short stack strategy, why not go all in pre vs 25-30% of your stack? Seems like you employed this in later hands, but didn’t do it early on, esp after you won the bounty button
Thanks! And a lot of it is just situation dependent. I don’t love just open shoving 30 BBs no matter what holding I have, but over a raise or a raise and callers I think it’s fine/good. But I think open shoving is fine in a lot of circumstances short
The bounty being 5 big blinds feels a bit high right? Shouldn’t it be more like 2 or 3?

Liked the short buy in strategy with the high variance game type. I’m also in LA, how many tables do they have going for this type of game and how often does it happen?
They almost always have at least 1 table of the 5/5/10 bounty, and up to 3 on busy nights. And then the normally have about 2-3x as many regular 5/5/10 games which I play in regularly

So the term “nut” means best possible in poker. So second nut flush draw would be the second best flush draw

I don't understand the strategy of buying in short-stacked in a game that plays that big. The more it costs to play in a game, the more it helps to have the highest possible payoff when you hit your big hands. I could understand this strategy better in a game with low rake and/or hourly rate.
It’s because of the bounty dynamic. If you win 2 hands in a row, you essentially get an extra $200. Say you only have $10 on the table and you win a hand so now you have $50. If you win the next hand, you can win 400% of your money. So the dynamics add something extra.
@@BrantzenPoker I guess the logic is that you're risking less to win more when you're short-stacked, but I'm not sure if that makes up for all the money you leave on the table when you hit a big hand and are capped by how much you can get paid off. What's the max buy in?

Also, you’re right, if I had a massive bankroll it wouldn’t matter. However in a game with such high variance where people are often opening to $75-$100 it’s insanely easy to dust buyins. I’ve seen players dust $6k within an hour at an $800 cap so it just cuts down on the bankroll swings
@@BrantzenPoker I understand that too about the variance/bankroll. Probably within the next year or two I plan on moving nearer to a casino to have my own go at poker full time, but I will be properly bankrolled for 5/10 ($3k buy-ins) with about $100k (and more in savings). I tried playing poker years ago before I had a proper bankroll and it was just too stressful.
