Now even easier to make! Brake Pad Spreader Caliper Piston Tool DIY. Without welding

  • No welding machine has been used in this video. Material used is a piece of iron, two nuts, a threaded rod and a socket from a ratchet wrench set.
Pushing back the brake piston is difficult to do by hand. And prying with a tool will only damage the brake piston. The brake piston should be pushed in or turned in evenly slowly. This piece of homemade tool can help with that.
Do you have a C-clamp? That will work as well. But if you don't have one...
In some ways you have to make your own tools. This brake caliper piston press tool is one of them. Yes you can go to the shop and buy a Brake Pad Spreader for about $10. But you can make your own to compress the brake piston. It doesn't have to look perfect. Save some money and use some scrap metal to fix it. Have fun with homemade tools!

Just use a "C"clamp vise grip. Quicker by far.

Y’all need to remember to tap the hole on the metal plate or it won’t screw and put pressure on piston.

I have a pile of vise grip welding clamps that probably work faster than the tool he made did, plus I didn't have to make a new tool.

G clamp and one of the old brake pads worked perfectly for me thanks. Life is too short to be making tools that you can buy for around $15 anyway

You can't "smash" a button on youtube, or on any online place. It's called CLICK or CLICKING. I wish people would stop saying "smash" the button or whatever.

Sometimes you have to look at the cost of materials + time spent, and weigh that against the cost of buying the actual tool. These are available for under $15, so it's not worth it to me to build one. Now, if we're talking about $200, that's a different ballgame.

But if I have my brakes apart I’m not waiting on shipping or driving to the store when I could make this in 15 minutes with stuff I already have.
