Atlcahualo [When the Waters leaves] | Aztec Dark Ambient Music

First-Twenty: Atlcahualo (from nahuatl which means Cessation of the waters) is considered the first month in the mexica´s calendar.
In this first month of the Cempohuallapohualli, the rites were dedicated chiefly to the water gods, some of them also called Tlaloques.
Sticks with flags made by amate paper were raised in some places, and the natives used to sacrificate childs in some specific mountains and knolls, for example in Tepetzinco they used to sacrificate a children dressed in blue, representing Quetzalxochitl. Also in Pantitlan some of this offerings were made.
Another rites in this twenty-days cicle were the raising of a big log representing the Tree which carries the heavens; although they made food offerings and the meeting and presentation of those warriors who would be slaughtered in the next 20-days month: Tlacaxipehualiztli, performing a representation of the sacrifice with a flint made by corn bread.

In the ancient Mexico-Tenochtitlan, the mexicas designed a calendar which had three different and simultaneous cicles: the 18 months cicle named Cempohuallapohualli, the divine cicle or Tonalpohualli, and the venusian one named Hueicitlallapohualli.
In this video series i will use the Dark Ambient genre to ilustrate those ceremonies.
