This really puts the Slayer's power into perspective. Even ARC soldiers, heavily armed and armored, can hardly put up a fight against the horde. They have a technological advantage on a level similar to when the European powers invaded Africa, and still, when they massacre thousands, millions more pour out of their portals. They are merely a setback to the power of the demon horde. But the slayer, a single man, appears out of nowhere and begins to drive the swarm back. His power and will outshine that of the demons, his rage matching their own. He slaughtered untold millions of them, without a single scratch. Whereas the ARC fell to thousands of imps, the Slayer can hold them back on his own, without so much as a sweat. So yeah, I believe he could defeat a Chaos Marine in combat. I think he could defeat ten, even! God, he could even bring down the Chaos Gods, by himself!
this has been done already. Could the Slayer survive in the 40k universe. The answer is yes not because he would fight against the Chaos Gods, but they would use him to enforce their plan. Because as it is stated the Slayer is different, he was imbued with immortality and the ability to absorb his fallen enemies essence to power himself. So it would all depend on if the Slayer realizes he is being used by the Chaos Gods and what he would do when he found it out.

I’m not gonna lie, this is probably the best I’ve seen of the Doom Slayer in the stereotypical hero role. Edit: I have gotten a lot of useful information in the reply’s, it appears the doom slayer is more of a hero than I have him credit for.
PaRappa Rapper Well he’s more of an Anti hero, like punisher, usually just aiming for demons. His goal isn’t exactly to save human life specifically. I was referring more to Captain America type of hero.
Jackson Morton I'd actually argue his entire motive is looking out for humans. The entire plotline to eternal especially is dedicated to sacrificing paradise (urdak) and production of argent itself for the good of humanity. Hell, even during his upbringing he was punished for defending unarmed civilians by beating up his superior officer. He is a man so chaotically righteous it often leaves him with more enemies than friends, because he is arguably the only good character (besides vega) in the entire series that aggressively enforces justice as he sees fit. A good man on a bad day that eventually snowballed him into fighting pure evil itself, he's a "stereotypical hero" done right and in a very endearing way. This is actually why I think Sam was developed as a character, because their interests conflict with each other greatly. Samuel will justify shady practices like harnessing soul energy (argent) directly from hell in order to help humanity and stay in power. He's not quite a polar opposite, but his interests are a complicated "ends justify the means", while doomguy is a simple "exterminate em all, no deals or excuses, leave nothing behind." Also they killed his rabbit. TL;DR Doomguy is a pretty cool dude

I love how this really catches the tempo at which combat happens in the game. It's not as obvious in FPS mode, but the Slayer really moves at the speed of a car (and considering the lethal force he brings with the force of a fully loaded truck). It is really well captured here.
I would love a DOOM movie of just, this. Like a 2 hour movie of non-stop carnage. no plot, no character development, just the slayer ripping and tearing for a hole movie.

Or a civilian with a kid trying your best to get to an ARC refugee center. I had a scene imagined where you lose sight of your kid by slipping off the edge of the building and while you try to get back to the kid, a demon closes in on the kid and just as its about to attack, the Slayer appears and kills every single demon. He turns towards the kid, kneels down goes to for a fist, sees its covered in blood, shakes it off and offers a fist bump to the kid. You make your way to your kid just to witness the little bonding moment, he sees you, pulls a sniper rifle off a corpse, tosses it at you and jumps out of sight
Both games are good. Great even. Just depends what you want: -a power trip with dance like combat and twitch reflexes -or pure survival against a horde that does not care and you need to think twice before you start shooting

Tobias Kuhn If it’s Universal, there’s some hope that we’ll get a proper DOOM movie, with hopefully Doom or Doom 2 as the game it’ll be based on. As much as I’d like for there to be a movie for Doom 2016, it’d be too expensive because of all of the CGI and special effects they’d have to use, so basing the movie off of Doom 1994 or Doom 2 would be less costly and probably a better idea altogether as it’s a tad bit more easy to do.

Insane! I want a movie like this. Seeing the Doomslayer in 3rd person perspective is so satisfying. They forgot to highlight his dash ability. Imagine using his dash to dodge around and get to demons quicker. 😳
The job of protecting the Slayer's tomb was the most boring that anyone could have. For millennia he lay there silently, not moving, not speaking, not doing anything just entombed within that cursed sarcophagus. It was hard to even imagine that this sleeper was once the worst nightmare of every demon around. The job was really simple, just go in, and be there, don't let anyone enter the tomb or take selfies with the comatose man or whatever, just boring stuff. Until one day I went to work, a normal day as usual, and both the box, and the guy within it was gone...
No, a bit quieter, or non existent. Dr elana is cringy as fuck an annoying as hell. Just get rid of her. Not to mention the voice over completely takes away the horror vibe.

Like the same dialog is in the launch trailer, but the delivery is bad ass. Switch it to Dr Elena and it's just cringy. And it could add to the horror if it's done right. Like the scientist sitting in the dark watching the soldiers die and then starring at a demon in the dark waiting for it to kill him, would have been awesome if it weren't for the voice over, and even the music. The music should've started when doomguy jumps out to fuckin pulverize the imp.

I love how this really catches the tempo at which combat happens in the game. It's not as obvious in FPS mode, but the Slayer really moves at the speed of a car (and considering the lethal force he brings with the force of a fully loaded truck). It is really well captured here.

Or a civilian with a kid trying your best to get to an ARC refugee center. I had a scene imagined where you lose sight of your kid by slipping off the edge of the building and while you try to get back to the kid, a demon closes in on the kid and just as its about to attack, the Slayer appears and kills every single demon. He turns towards the kid, kneels down goes to for a fist, sees its covered in blood, shakes it off and offers a fist bump to the kid. You make your way to your kid just to witness the little bonding moment, he sees you, pulls a sniper rifle off a corpse, tosses it at you and jumps out of sight

Wish they had the budget to do cutscenes like this that could have gone along with the codex entries in-wrap. Would have been nice to wrap up what happened between Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal since it doesn't look like we will be seeing DLC for that time period.

It’s animation perfection, sound effects, how fast he’s running, the narration and story is amazing. My favorite part is when he has his fight with the marauder, the animation is absolutely perfect

Tobias Kuhn If it’s Universal, there’s some hope that we’ll get a proper DOOM movie, with hopefully Doom or Doom 2 as the game it’ll be based on. As much as I’d like for there to be a movie for Doom 2016, it’d be too expensive because of all of the CGI and special effects they’d have to use, so basing the movie off of Doom 1994 or Doom 2 would be less costly and probably a better idea altogether as it’s a tad bit more easy to do.

Imagine being a demon going to the Slayer Tomb in the Kadangir Sanctum and discovering that he escaped... I'd jumped of a cliff right away.
The job of protecting the Slayer's tomb was the most boring that anyone could have. For millennia he lay there silently, not moving, not speaking, not doing anything just entombed within that cursed sarcophagus. It was hard to even imagine that this sleeper was once the worst nightmare of every demon around. The job was really simple, just go in, and be there, don't let anyone enter the tomb or take selfies with the comatose man or whatever, just boring stuff. Until one day I went to work, a normal day as usual, and both the box, and the guy within it was gone...

The detail of mixing the voice lower than the audio shows just how little appreciation the slayer needs because he does this for fun.
A little complaint: voice over at the beginning should be a bit louder.
And the music
No, a bit quieter, or non existent. Dr elana is cringy as fuck an annoying as hell. Just get rid of her. Not to mention the voice over completely takes away the horror vibe.

@@justsomeguyontheinternet5898 it's not really the dialog itself that I have a problem with, it's fine. It's her delivery that's so annoying. She's just whining the whole time. Like the same dialog is in the launch trailer, but the delivery is bad ass. Switch it to Dr Elena and it's just cringy.
And it could add to the horror if it's done right. Like the scientist sitting in the dark watching the soldiers die and then starring at a demon in the dark waiting for it to kill him, would have been awesome if it weren't for the voice over, and even the music. The music should've started when doomguy jumps out to fuckin pulverize the imp.
