    UPDATE FROM MICHELLE FISHER 8/2015:
I just wanted to post a quick update. Jax is doing really well. Him and our son have quite the bond which makes me so happy. He has lost all his puppy fur so he looks completely different. He's a very happy and energetic dog and we couldn't be happier that he's here with us.
    ORIGINAL STORY:
PAWsitive Channel and the SPCA International’s program Operation Baghdad Pups:Worldwide (OBP) team up to film the reunion of Sgt. Jacob Fisher and his dog. Fisher had recently arrived home from his seven-month deployment from Afghanistan, his 3rd tour to the Middle East. Sgt. Jacob waited nearly three months for the moment he would see Jax again. This reunion took place on April 24, 2015.
Sgt. Jacob is on active-duty, a hero who continues to protect our freedoms and our lives. When he found Jax, only a puppy at the time, he knew he couldn’t leave him to fend for himself in the harsh and potentially dangerous streets of Bagram, Afghanistan. He had to save one more life before going home - and he did.

+Michelle Fisher As a fellow Marine who served in peacetime (90-98), I'm always happy to see stories like this that enrich the lives of the guys who've had to endure so much during these trying times of instability in the middle east. I have so much respect for you SGT. Fisher! Also as a fellow K9 lover (I bought a truck in Texas last year and got a 'parking lot' boxer/pitt mix for $20 - best money I've ever spent), I appreciate your desire to give Jax a forever family! It's also nice to see your family on board with the idea. I wish you and yours a long, happy life together...Thank You! Season's Greetings to you and yours! I realize that My response is directed to SGT. Jacobs through you Michelle, so thank you for being my 'bridge' to him! SEMPER FI!!!

If this is the sort of compassion and honour he brings to his service then he should be thanked for it.

I know how much a dog can mean to someone who is alone and missing home. My little buddy Dany was with me for almost 15 years. He got sick and I had to say goodbye to him 5 days later. I cried for three days then realized I was crying for me so I stopped. But I miss him every day, it's been just over three years now and I was truly blessed to have him in my life, he will always be in my heart. Dogs are a gift from God.

I also wonder what the military does with those trapped wild animals on the bases...hope they turn them loose elsewhere, not kill them. Our wars aren't their faults. Thanks for sharing this great homecoming and reunion.

I brought two dogs to the US from India and I can tell you this: they were worth every penny, every late night, every bit of heartburn, and every dang form I had to fill out. We lost Rex a couple years ago. It was a devastating blow. We had him cremated and he will be with me forever. Emma's still hanging in there even with having only 3 legs (and all 3 have issues) plus epilepsy... she's still doing okay. She's such a strong-willed dog, and so dang sweet. I miss Rex, but I don't think we can replace him. When we eventually lose Emma, we will probably find a couple more dogs from some other far flung place. ;)

I wish every soldier in a war zone could bring home a dog. Maybe it would help with Post traumatic stress disorders and help eliminate suicides.anything that helps returning soldiers should be the norm. All the best to all soldiers and all returning dogs. Great story.

May God bless all of you. God does not make mistakes. These animals ask for so little most importantly love and they give so much more. All my life I have had dogs around me. You have a friend in your dog through thick and thin. Even when you have a bad day they still love you. God knew what he was doing when he made animals especially dogs to show us how to love unconditionally. Thanks for serving us so bravely. God bless you and yours for generations to come. 🥰🙏☝️👏

Thank you for the work you do, finding pups and the soldiers they helped. It's healing just to see they getting back together. Funny how healing can work that way. Sometimes even without war, life take a toll on folks. Pupdogs and cats seem to have a talent for drawing people out of darkness. Messengers from God, I calls'em.

The love between the soldier and his dog Jax ,kept that man sane ,Wonder why there aren't more dogs offered to returning Vets ,to give them something to care for and to sooth their own emotions by just petting and caring for an animal ,The ASPCA should be doing something like this ,that is if they aren't doing it already.

What a beautiful dog!!! Those eyes are hypnotic. I thought he did rather well after a 16 hour flight cramped in a crate, being handled by strangers, meeting his first "little" person - he was surprisingly well behaved after all that, such a good boy. Don't forget to neuter him now that he's an American dog!! You are so fortunate to have Jax. His unconditional love is going to help you through some SERIOUS PTSD. I hear you mention "seeing some serious stuff over there" and that stuff is going to haunt you. Jax was there when you came off patrol and saw the pain, the questions, the fear you had to hide, and he never flinched or doubted you - he will be your connetion between there and here and help you make sense of it all. I am so thankful to this group for being there for you and Jax and helping you get him home!! so happy for you.

This organization PAWsitive is pretty awesome getting these dogs back for the soldiers who fell in-love with them over seas. I just think that you provide an excellent service for these brave men and women who go put themselves in harms way to take care of us.
I am 57 years old, I wish I could join the Navy. I was going to do it back when I was 18 but found out I was pregnant. I couldn't be pregnant in the Navy and there was no way I was going to kill my unborn baby. So it was my sweet little baby and me.

his flight was so long. when i get off a 2 hour flight i feel that way. poor puppy. his ears were popping, he had to stay in that cage for a long long time. then the airport is super noisy. he was just a bit scared. but within minutes he kissed his daddy and you know what???? all was ok from then on. my dog gets that look when he has to go to the vet, or take medicine, shoot....i get that look too sometimes. :)
