Yep. I remember before Euro 2004 (I think) The Times ranked David James higher than Barthez which was just about the most laughable thing I had ever seen. Of course in the game France v England. Barthez saved Becks pen whilst James gave away a pen for France's winner. Nationalistic Fools, the lot of them. James was not even worthy of Barthez's single strand of hair, if ever that existed.

Keane lifted up the whole team, make them work harder, while Becks was IMO the best midfielder, most of the goals came from his assists and he was saving the team from losing with his insane freekicks.

i disagree, Keane was a warrior and drove his team on to much success but Vieira was a better complete player.
Keane had the spirit, a bit more than Vieira but Vieira was spirited also but technically better

+Colonel Kurtz No way play Scholes and Zidane together? That's like saying no way Japanese twins in bed. Picture Scholes nailing a pass from thirty yards onto Zidane's big toe. Now the other thing.

lol i see what you're saying, but a football team is limited and you have to pick the right players for each role.
If you pick 2 creative midfielders and played a team with a decent defensive midfielder, you aint gonna win the ball back in the midfield where it matters..
Scholes cannot win the ball he was APPALLING at tackling and if Zidane had to keep trying to win tackles, you're making him less effective and dragging him away from his job that he's there to do. which is create chances.
Ofc Scholes and zidane when they have the ball would be interesting but i think Zidane doesn't need Scholes as he was world class enough to setup the killer attacks himself.
What zidane needed was a brilliant player like Vieira behind him to stop the other team's attacks and get the ball back for him.
This is why Scholes had Roy Keane.

Colonel Kurtz All this is mere foam and fluff. Have you ever kicked a ball? I am imagining, Paul Scholes and Zinedine Zidane in the same team. There is no debate. There is no argument. Scholes and Zidane. They could even swap free roles, switching between midfield and the number ten which both at their best knew how to play. Scholes and Zidane, for crying out loud.

Carl Roberts you do realise Barthez never played for juve or with any of those players. As for Henry he was being played left wing back at juve, what do you expect from him. Henry>del piero any day of the week

Carl Roberts And then he became a striker at Arsenal and shit hit the fan.
ROnaldo was also crappy in the beginning of his United career with all of his useless dribbling. That doesn't change the fact that he turned into a great player.

Not a shit team by any means but very obvious and boring selections by Barthez. Oh, and by the way Fabian, there are at least 5 keepers who could have gotten in there ahead of you.
