I have been a visitor to the Philippines mant times as a tourist. On a grassroots level...in almost every town and city people willing litter and the rubbish removal systems are totally inadequate to being non existent. Prosperity from tourism will require locals to start valuing thier own environment.

Philippines has no talent of developing its island beachfront. The selling of a beach resort is the wide beachfront, but greedy operators are blocking the beachfront to have its exclusivity. We have pretty and descent beaches but lacks knowledge how to developed it to gain its maximum potential... Drainage and sewage treatment system, power and telcos as well with wide sidewalk and streets... Building officials don't have the guts and often than not politically apprehensive of implementing the building codes... Our politicians and gov officials visit foreign countries, why not adopt best practice in the countries they have visited... Do not copy boracay development. San Vicente is much more attractive when it's selling point is properly protected. Minimum disruptions of vegetation or replaced with development requires it... Keep the development far away from the sea shore.

Thanks for the insights! The only thing i do know for sure is that their set back from high tide is 50 meters. Development of hard structures wont be allowed to be close to the water. If you get the chance to read the entire master plan of san Vicente it is really impressive bec PALAFOX did a great job here. Now its upto everyone else to follow these building guidelines so the area can be protected/enhanced into a sustainable tourist destination. For now though, its a great place to visit, especially for those people who prefer the raw nature experience it has at the moment. Cheers

It's not sustainable because it's originally a sea--Dubai. It's a reclamation, and thus, flooded. This is what Filipino environmentalists are warning about, the effect of creating lands out of sea or ocean. In the case of Manila reclamations, ( a grand city is gonna rise again) the reclaimed lands are the boundaries of the city of Manila which hasn't seen that much ill effect, since the 1960s? Or 70s when Manila seas were reclaimed and turned into Cultural Center of the Philippines, Folk Arts Theatre, and others. While, Dubai was a body of water in the middle of the ocean. The floods in Manila are caused by lack of drainage, and those are now being looked into.

The thing that SV has going for it is the fact that it's not busy. Once it gets as busy as Boracay it will loose it's appeal. There are lots of places with many resorts and the Philippines doesn't need another one. If people go to Palawan, it's to El Nido for a few days of island hopping. SV is different - it's just a beach and very quiet, too quiet for most people. Putting a lot of resorts there won't attract a lot of people, as they already have El Nido, Bohol, Boracay. I hope that SV doesn't develop and loose it's appeal.

I lived there few months before covid and although the potential is huge, there are some political internal affairs...you know The Ph belongs to a few families and it has that tribal mentality some how amongst elite Filipinos.
The lack of infrastructure, hardly wifi signal will be a big challenge. At that time the airport was operating twice a week to Pampanga.
As far as I understood all the coastal area is already been bought and or is under ownership by the privilege ones.
San Vicente is known for the long beach but to be fair the best white sand pristine beaches arent in long beach.
Overall people are very friendly and the landscape is top notch, better than Puerto Princesa, El Nido and Port Barton
The fact that in El Nido which is so touristic there is not reliable wifi makes me think that San Vicente may remain as beautiful and empty as I have known it.
Walking along unbelievable beaches for kilometers alone was a very unique feeling....while in El Nido was completely packed

Greedy politikos, rich businessmen, etc developed only for their own..nature friendly, clean and wholesome type of beach should be designed with cleanliness, waste mgt & balance ecosystem to be properly maintained also.

Its a promising prospect...but lets hope the failure in Boracay's system wont happen in San Vicente... Too much urban development will destroy it Pristine beauty.

the problem is every beach wants to be boracay, abused. the ideal plan here should be development towards not to become a resort filled destination. this should be more like a natural park destination, where the beach , local fauna and flora are preserved. once develpments come in this will become another highly developed beach resort where abuese and corruption happen.

Please government do not touch this with hotels, condos and other shittt there is. Make this the last frontier of what beach should be. PLEASEEE!!! For the sake of the last Philippine generation to come. I was in Boracay, in my 20s on vacation, when there was no electricity and no other s....t that there is. I do not like what it is now--commercialized.

Sorry but I'm a Beach Nazi. The sand is not as white as Boracay. I prefer the whiter sand of Calaguas, and the island is almost devoid of any tourists, both local and foreign, during weekdays.

Stop calling it Boracay 2.0 PLEASE!
This is so backward. Boracay of the North, Greece of the Philippines, etc. and other copycat names others use for their destinations. That’s so copycat mentality, devoid of confidence and originality.
This beautiful beach should be able to stand on ITS OWN !
    San Vicente, Palawan.
Develop the brand on its own two feet.

Long beach yes. But still not as pretty.as Boracay white beach. Be careful with travel vloggers ppl, they hook you in and inspire you to visit a place and once there - its full of BS. Their opinion is just that - opinion. There is a goos probability they are getting paid to promote an area. Be careful believing travel vloggers since they dont show the negative side of travelling to places with minimal facilities.

Boracay is indeed very special. Me and wife love the beach there too! it offers a different experience like more upscale dining options and also bars and other resort like services. Palawan has its own beauty as well. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so tama naman, be careful on what you see on the internet hehe. thanks for the helpful comment. Cheers 🥂
