Thank You!
You can reduce the inrush current on the well pump with a Schneider electric altistart01 soft starter. I put one on mine, dropped inrush by almost 30% if I recall, they are about $125. They have a voltage and time setting, need to be careful not to set voltage too low or the pump won't start turning. Keep the time as short as possible too.
Thank you! I just looked it up and you are correct on the price. That is exactly what we need. I am definitely going to get one.
@@NormalPrepping no problem. Mine is set to initial voltage "D", second from highest. Start time is set between c+d. Listen to the pump to make sure it doesn't stall. If it does stall, shut off power to the pump, make an adjustment and try again.
@@RealDeanWinchester Thanks I have been looking it up and found installation information but not how to do the adjustments. Now I know where to start.
@@NormalPrepping yeah 😂, the instructions are just pictures. Well pumps take a good amount of torque to start so the reduction in the inrush current isn't as good as you'd get on an air conditioner. Mine dropped from 20ish amps to around 15, I don't recall for sure. You might try running the generator at full speed (eco switch off) to see if that helps with the pump start up. If you do try the soft start just comment back if you want some help.
