Wow- 4 years. FOUR YEARS. This song, it helped me through such a hard time. I was depressed, questioning everything in my life, battling anxiety and fear. I literally listened to this song almost every day. I was always pretty happy and confident, but I was at a time when all my beliefs were shaken and I didn't know where to turn. "When did the sky turn black? And when will the light come back?" was exactly how I felt. I can tell you, "But I made it alive. The sun's starting to rise. This fight of my life is so hard, but I'm going to survive." Thanks to the grace and peace only granted to me by Jesus Christ, I can truly see how even that darkest moment of my life was a part of these "beautiful times." I do not even remember that person now, who was so afraid. God has brought me through the storm. Know that he will bring you through yours. I know it feels dark now, but I promise, it DOES get better.

Thank you. Though, I couldn't do it in my own strength- it was God's love and light that carried me through. I would still be in a dark place without Him. He deserves all the honor and glory :)
I know it’s been 2+ years since you commented this, but I am in the exact same boat. I had not listened to any new music from Adam since Ocean Eyes Deluxe and when I saw my friends posting about Owl City releasing new music, I was shocked and also learned he had released two whole albums since. I was in possibly the darkest mindset I had been in since middle school (summer of my senior year) and this song and entire EP really helped me jump down from the ledge. Up All Night is the song I equate to saving my life the most but I am so thankful I rediscovered Adam’s music and it allowed me to finally be happy again.

This clip is actually from a game which was on owlcitymusic.com around the time the song was released. You had to make the boat reach the Light House and when you did it, the song automatically starts downloading for free.

How do you guys personally interpret the song? For me, a few lines stand out. One in particular is the line: "A can driver, turned to skydiver, then to survivor, dying to breakdown." To me personally, it is a cab driver who joins to the Army and becomes a paratrooper. He survives a war, possibly D-Day in WWII, and is wanting to breakdown and let it all out but cannot for any number of reasons. Just what I personally think of when I hear that line. That's what I love about Adam's, more specifically his OC project songs; he writes the song with his own interpretation, but I can find an entirely different interpretation and maybe even one that describes a current state in my life and his song helps me with it. Just my opinion. :) What's yours?
