This is great at demonstrating how stock video is over-sharpened, crushing blacks and blowing out highlights. Raw video looks absolutely stunning by comparison. Stock also gives the illusion of detail, but actually loses detail.
Man, this app has improved SO MUCH it's not even funny. I tried it right at the beginning, more than a year ago, and it was a disaster on my S22+ Exynos, just unusable. You couldn't even record more than 30 seconds or so in those days, memory was fllled really quickly. All that is gone now. Amazing work, just amazing.
Good comparision, glad you get Samsung samples. Naughty Samsung.. I do expect the S23 line comparision will look even more with bigger difference. OEM's has the all tools to make it right one day. To make it better or close this topic at all (I mean raw capture).
It looked so good in the test version that I got the full version. While I do really like Sonys camera apps which also apply very natural processing and superb stabilization, Motioncam with its cinematic softness made me fall in love. My only problem will be recording such huge files as my 256GB storage is basically full and I don't wanna get another SD card, but the fact that I can use all 3 lenses is just great
@@MotionCam That's just more money I'd have to take care of. I think I'll rather put up some storage and with time transfer that to a laptop I'd take with me
Can this same level of quality by achieved with using DirectLog encoding? I'm looking to remove the processing/sharpness and noise from my footage. If so, which codec and transfer function is best while maintaining a less intensive workflow?
Ofc are not 100% match due to different ways of processing the data! Next comparation we will try to use a color chart! to set them both neutral! Cheers

Literally for any phone ever made. MotionCam is the main reason I'm staying away from iOS. On Android, the S23 in particular, Dynamic range (12 bit readout) and colors are insane with MotionCam.
@@DennisSchmitz I have the S22 Ultra and was thinking about getting the iphone 15 pro max cause usb c and new camera sensir but I just found out about motioncam so might just get an s23 ultra lol. Or maybe a xiaomi 13 Ultra/oppo find x6. It frees up phone choices because you dont have to keep in mind the phones video/photo processing since you can just use motion cam to get the full capability of the sensor
1:07 generally your comparison videos are awesome, but exposure is not matched on this one. RAW has clipped highlights, whereas stock app is trying to protect highlights (and hence the darks are very noisy)
I can't understand why the original hardware effect is very good, but Samsung's camera software can make the picture quality so bad. Using this software is like upgrading to a noble camera
Why are stock camera apps so bad? Keep pushing these insane resolutions like 8k yet the bitrate is just horrible. I don't understand how samsung shot a commercial with the stock camera app. Maybe pro mode has higher bitrate?
While high resolution is certainly a selling point for stock camera apps, it's important to note that the quality of a video is not solely determined by the resolution or bitrate. These apps are designed to cater to a wide range of users with varying degrees of experience in video production. It's challenging to balance the needs of all users and still provide high-quality output. However, we are dedicated to providing professional-level tools and features to help users achieve the best possible video quality on their mobile devices ^^
@@MotionCam it is also a issue of file size, raw footage takes cca 1.4 GB on my S23+ for a 10 sec video file, while stock camera reduces it to 25 MB, so if you were to shrink file for 90% you are expecting a big reducement in quality. The issue is that they are not offering any option from their side to sacrifice file size for better qlt. So thank you for giving us this tool, because now I can finnaly see whole might of smartphone cameras.
