    Their is an air ride seat available for this tractor. Made a huge difference for me. The seat is from deere and their is some auxiliary power from the seat air pump to hook up but it absolutely worth it.

    Nice mower and good review. I certainly agreed with your reasons for buying the new mower over a used unit, so much so that I also purchased a new mower and took delivery about one year ago. In my case, I replaced an X300 with an X354 and I very much enjoy the 4-wheel steering for my residential sized needs. I have the same styled seat as your X758 but without the armrests. I like it.

      @mmrbeef  Před 2 lety +1

      Glad you found something that fit your needs. Four wheel steer is certainly a nice feature in some operating environments. A lot of folks really like the standard seats on these mowers and I think I would as well if I did not have the SE seat on the X748. That seat is just far and away superior to most every other mower seat that I have sat in.

    I found your channel several months ago and appreciate your commentary full of logical and well explained commentary. It looks as if I am going to order a new X754 for my property next spring and add an aftermarket shovel (maybe a little bull). There are basically none of these JD models (X754 and X758) here in Canada that are used, and the very few that I have seen have close to 1000 hours on them and listed basically at almost full MSRP (!)...so new seems to be the only way to go for me. Just curious, do you think that JD will add an electric version in the future?

    • @mmrbeef
      @mmrbeef  Před rokem +1

      The used market can certainly be that way at times. Buying new made sense to me when I bought the X758. I honest have no idea on electric. I’ve looked at some of the electric options and personally I think we are still several years away from a commercial style heavy duty ride on electric GT. Electric X3’s, I can see those already. Larger ground engaging type units are another story. How big of a battery would be required to last 2-4 hrs tilling or an 6-8 hr day of moving snow around a shopping center? Electric equipment and cars can be great but it’s not anywhere close to advanced enough to take over some of the applications where torque or extended run time is required to be efficient.

    I'm still use my 08 x720 with 3800 hrs, hauling stuff around and putting around the yard everyday, but her grass cutting days are over since the pto clutch went out In her last summer and that's just gonna be why to expensive to fix. I ended up getting my first zero turn instead.

    I can't get mine to mow level without allowing the anti-scalp wheels to ride along the ground and act as height control wheels. Dealer has tried to figure it out but no answers.

  • @johndennis3181
    @johndennis3181 Před rokem

    Often people don't link the seat and are worried about the aluminum rims. If the rims are not eaten by salt and are torqued to the right speck they should last for a long long time.

    Your x758 is one very nice machine I was going to buy an x750 but I decided against it and went with a Kubota bx1880 because it was 11,280.00 for the tractor and with a loader deck and weight box it was 18,985.00 and to get an x750 with a front blade wheel weights a cat 1 3 point and a rear pto I would have been 24 thousand dollars for a garden tractor

      @mmrbeef  Před rokem

      As far as I know it is a K90 in the X758... which is very off since the 4-5 tractors had the K91 and the X748 etc had the K92. All the transmissions are very similar in build type and function.

    • @mmrbeef
      @mmrbeef  Před rokem

      I have not had any trouble like that. If yours is an issue I would contact your dealer for a warranty issue. If that spring is jumping off there is an alignment issue somewhere or the deck is not properly set up.

    • @mmrbeef
      @mmrbeef  Před 2 lety

      Yes, on both the 54HC and 60HC decks you can drive over the decks. There is an optional auto connect system that can be added to the decks. I do not have that system. Check out the ~1:00 mark in this video showing the drive over aspect. czcams.com/video/PrOkDRRjg9U/video.html

  • @mc25a
    @mc25a Před 2 lety

    Thanks for the review. I just got one a few weeks ago. Does your deck vibrate when the gauge wheels hit the ground? I've noticed when they bottom out I feel quite a bit of deck vibration. Occurs in a hole or when mowing a steep side slope. This does not occur when the deck is off, only when pto is engaged.

    • @mmrbeef
      @mmrbeef  Před 2 lety

      I have not noticed the deck vibrating when the casters are on the ground. However, something that might be causing that feeling is the ground itself. If you have thinner grass and the deck is hard on the ground the deck could be vibrating from the imperfections in the ground. The effect might be amplified by the physics of the blades spinning.

    • @cfeemd1
      @cfeemd1 Před 2 lety

      I have an X758 with auto-connect. If you have auto-connect it is the auto-connect that is hitting the left side of the frame when the mower deck wheels hits uneven ground and raises the mower deck up. The auto-connect is hitting the frame. This does not happen with a manual drive shaft. If you take the mower deck off, you will be able to easily see where the auto-connect is rubbing the frame as the paint will be worn off. I am waiting on John Deere for an answer on how to correct this issue with the auto-connect.

    • @mc25a

    • @mc25a

    • @mmrbeef
      @mmrbeef  Před 2 lety +2

      Zero turns are nice, and yes given the acres we mow it would be quick, however, I have yet to find one I like to operate. We do have a 1445 front mount mower with a 72" deck that is capable of 5+ acres/hr. However, given the roughness of our land and trees its closer to 2.5 acres/hr. The X758 is a nice addition in lieu of a smaller zero turn due to its other capabilities.

    • @mmrbeef

      You have to be cutting some pretty tall grass to make it notice. The grass has to be above the deck and typically you need to be blowing cuttings into the unmowed grass before it starts to notice.

      User wise and power wise they are not too different. Main differences between my 2007 X748 and 2021 X758 are the engine (same hp though), body style, lack of OEM loader, different deck, and hydraulic front wheel assist on the 2021 vs mechanical on the 2007. Here is a video on the decks. I think there a few others as well. czcams.com/video/0ZlPOVhYK3k/video.html

    its a strong mower but thats it. big difference between it and a compact tractor that 3 point lift and mid and rear pto. and icompact tractor is strong enough to have a front loader and bucket and even a mini backhoe attachment. this thing is not strong enough for loader or backhoe its just a mower. I used one this morning the exact same x758 and couldn't figure out how to lower the deck. I'm used to a grasshopper zero turn. but this is a good strong mower that can run a long time on little fuel. I mowed about 5 acres. grasshopper 227 is much faster with 72" deck and much more maneuverable. what I didn't like about the 758 is when backing up even a little bit the mower deck clutch shuts off so you cannot mow at all in reverse . this about drove me crazy.
