Our queen and princesses are undecided, like a syncopated heart, if they are really in love.
Just like you said Syncopation was the track exclusively for Japanese album while "From Dusk Till Dawn" was released for International version of Metal Resistance, although later on they performed this song outside of Japan because is a banger with more rock sound rather than metal.
Along with Karate, is one of those songs many fans got that anime vibes, for me Karate would be the opening and Syncopation the ending, although it works like an opening too.
Live at Tokyo Dome 2016 version is a great option, i think you already know or got info about that special live concert with 55K fans two nights in a row playing the entire 2 albums songs by that time. Big Fox Festival 2017 when YuiMetal was still on the group is another nice version and a lovely recall, and with those Mikio Fujioka guitar even more beautiful. The live at 10BMY Budokan 2021 version got ISAO on guitar and Momoko Okazaki as the avenger filling the third spot as a backup dancer.

8:00 Sure the theme in the first album was children playing to do Heavy Metal, more light weight. But they have changed since then. Metal Resistance is already in 2016, they have played arenas and festivals around the world already at that time. This album is more serious about them being the real deal, and the theme switches to this 16/18 year old girls that are feeling all this emotions for the first time in their lives. It's not a kids game anymore. You see a switch again in Metal Galaxy, that's an album from ~20 years old girls. It's still fun, Babymetal spirit, but the album has a more mature approach, with songs that even playfully go a bit high degrees like Kagero or Night Night Burn or have a very ceremonial feeling like the trilogy of lights (this girls had experienced death and lost at that point).
Babymetal is no children game anymore. And if Metalverse happens to be the fourth album, it sounds hard af.
I'm glad I decided to go back and start from the beginning. The whole thing is much more impactful when you see them growing up and maturing and watch and listen to them evolve in their music! FYI...Metalverse would be such a COOL name for an album!
No matter how often I hear this song, every time I find myself thinking "damn, this is so good". It's fantastic in every single aspect, but one thing that always strikes me in particular are the bends at the beginning of the outro solo. They are so perfect! I also love that little break at 11:54 (in your video). The anticipation it creates is so intense, I always find myself moving my head up slowly and then start nodding to the groove violently as they set back in.
Hell Yeah! You have no idea how excited I was to move into this next phase of the journey! So much more to come!

I can't help but picture the lighting they used for this moment in some shows - in a moment of darkness two vertical rows of white spotlights from either side of the stage sweep like a double door opening out over the crowd... in my memory it _is_ that sound.
Totally agree with you ,love everything about this song . Was lucky enough to be at Brixton Academy in London in 2019 the only time performed outside of Japan and not sure it was only around the 5th time performed at that time . You mentioned the Kamis not facing each other which makes there performance even more impressive and the courography.
Some of the courography is really intricate while not looking at each other but what would of stood out like a sore thumb was Su moving forward and backwards as Yui and Moa stepping forwards and backwards at certain points in the song . If not done by any one of them exactly the same time what looks a simple bit of courography but looks very dramatic would of failed . Who would of thought this aging metal/rock fan would one day be discussing courography done by 3 Japanese girls 🤣😁 look forward to next BabyMetal stream 🤘🦊🤘

You don't know how glad I am you enjoyed this song so much. I have the feeling that the song is underrated (probably because of the local distribution thingy) and I love it. It's a very elegant song so to speak. With crazy drums but not overdone under some very beautiful guitar melodies, and yes, the syncopation hehe... but all is very subtle and put together with extreme care, flowing perfectly. And the ending, with that tasty guitar solo and the drums till the end, just perfect!

I didn't know very well at first that their albums have both foreign and Japanese versions, and for some reason I bought a used foreign version of their second album at a used CD store nearby my own house. So I didn't know this song existed, and after listening to all the way of their songs from the first album to the second album through, I found this song on You Tube. so I was shocked again.
Up until the first album, the girls were still in their low teens or middle teen, and their songs were full of 'playful' and were called 'Kawaii (cute) Metal', and it was a pretty shock. Then, in the second album, the girls became in their all high teens, and the songs had a slightly more mature feel to them.
The lyrics of the song are like shouting of a first love to a night sky, and it fits well with Su-'s serious nature, I guess. Above all, I was very surprised by the intense music in the background and the precise timing and pitch of Su-'s singing. The secrets of how she manages to breathe through this fast tempo and insane transition song, but Mr. Autohmae had told me before. Truly amazing.

Great reaction. With 'Syncopation' being a Japan exclusive track imagine our surprise (and excitement) when we heard the heartbeats sounding in Brixton, London in 2019. That is still the only time they have played this live outside of Japan to date.
Su-metal said how surprised she was that everybody there clearly already knew the song given it had never been released internationally.
The international release had 'From Dusk Till Dawn' instead ... an equally great song, but completely different to 'Syncopation'. That one is even more rare - it was played at the Hollywood Palladium in 2017 and only fan cam videos of that performance exist. It wasn't until the 10 Budokan concerts in 2021 that it was played live again. It featured in 2 of the concerts and we finally got the pro-shot DVD quality video we had all been wanting so much.
Dont forget to keep your eye open for them 2 very enthusiastic fans bragging about seeing Syncopation. I think they must be keeping a low profile 🤔 🤘🦊

'Syncopation' is a killer track.
Pretty much a flawless blend of guitars and vocals.
This is what producer Koba said in a 2016 interview:
Q: Of all the songs in this album wouldn’t you say that ‘Syncopation’ has the most Japanese feel to it?
Kobametal: Yes, I would agree to that.
And that is why on the overseas edition we put a different song in its place.
On the Japanese edition we wanted to present an ever more Japanese quality to it and so this song was included.
On the overseas edition in place of ‘Syncopation’ we have instead included the song ‘From Dusk Till Dawn’.
(Of course as it turns out, Western audiences love this song as well.)

Ooh boy. One of their very best tracks. This is such a good song, I'll never understand why it was Japan exclusive. While From Dusk Til Dawn is a great song too, Syncopation slaps hard.

@@autohmae Perhaps, but I doubt that anyone but the hardcore kitsune would do that. From what I understand, its common to have exclusive tracks on Japanese album releases to ensure that people don't buy cheap imports from overseas and to encourage people to buy physical copies rather than downloads.

This song was originally written in Japan in the style of 1970s J-Pop, which gives a nostalgic impression to us.
It is a love song about an adolescent girl who pretends to be casual when facing someone she only likes. In other words, FIRST LOVE METAL😁😁😁😁

Good reaction! This song was only collected for the Japanese release, but became widely popular overseas as well, and it is said that producer Koba did so because it was the most J-POP-like song. Syncopation, the theme of this song, translates to「残心」 "zanshin" (leaving the heart), a concept in the Japanese martial arts and flower arrangement. It is also connected to the psychological states of unkindness and regret, and is utilized in the lyrics. I think it is a very interesting theme.

On the "out of Japan" version of the album, "From Dusk Till Dawn" replaced "Syncopation", but the lyrics for Syncopation were still on the inner sleeve and From Dusk Till Dawn never got official lyrics
Ahhh...so THAT'S why there are no official lyrics. I wonder if that was intentional, a slip up, or just a money thing of not having to print multiple, different sleeves? Hmmmm
Babymetal music/lyrics has always been made with a wink and a smile, but also it was always 'written in the their voices' (of the girls) if you know what I mean, something they might have written.
One of the songs on the first album actually was written by Moametal and Yuimetal: Song 4 / Yon no Uta. Of course it is song number 8 on the album. 🙂(4 + 4, Yuimetal and Moametal).

Ah, the Tokyo Dome show. For me it just doesn't get better.
We just got done watching one of the two Apocrypha shoes, Red Mass, which is one of two BM shows I'm aware of where the crowd was all female (the other being Red Fox Festival). My wife kept saying, "It would have been so awesome to be there!" I think she's watching it again.

For the lyrics of their early songs, instead of thinking about it terms of catering to an audience, you might think about it as material which was age-appropriate for the girls to sing. It was topics they could easily relate to (with references to their actual experiences sprinkled in, picked up by Koba) and which fit them - the message matched the ones delivering it. It's part of their overall positive message and example, regardless of / contrasting to the heaviness of the music. Which is also how they can be appropriate and appealing to kids as well.

Syncopation is not simply off beats. Syncopation comes out of complicated history but suffice it to say accented notes in unexpected places in relationship to the expected rhythmic pattern is called syncopation. listen at 11:35

Most of the time you mostly hear the girls doing the child voice, but they are both really good singers, you can hear them sing properly at times in some of the Sakura Gakuin stuff, I love that I know their voices well enough now I can pick them out within a twelve girl choir. The third album Moa really gets to shine, there is great backing vocals right through that album, I even suspect at times I hear a layer of Moa behind Su's vocals, which gives a lot more depth imo.

For the shows to stream with all songs you've known, I think Makuhari Messe 2014 or The Forum or O2 Academy London 2014 would be great and fresh since people rarely see those shows on youtube.
Makuhari with their home Japanese crowd was a bigger show and the sound quality was fantastic - it's close to Saitama Super Arena 15 (which Road of Resistance Official video from).
The Forum/O2 Academy with their International fan are great too (Plus O2 Academy was the first time they perform Road of Resistance) both are fantastic I remember the crowd was chanting "We want more!" in the end and they came back with 2 songs
Legend 1997 and Budokan 14 are great, especially Budokan 14 was their first milestone whole career, but the first night could be a bit painful to watch since some incidents happened and Yui&Moa have to fight through pain. The second night appeared a lot on youtube that you maybe familiar with their costume and stage already.
Legend 99/97 were in more early state where there's no Kamiband for most of the show, Yui & Moa were still lipsync, ofcouse they have those highlights but you already saw most of it (Death, Akatsuki Unfinished, Yui&Moa "solo"...)

Since you did the Japanese exclusive of this album, how about doing the song that was on the international release next? "From Dusk Till Dawn" is equally awesome, even if completely different! You can find the song as FDTD on the BabyMetal Reaction Resource channel, and the only proshot we have of that song is from Budokan 2021.
Regarding the voices of MoiMoi probably the most correct term would be that their voices were more childish in the first album? You have to consider they were literally kids when they recorded the first album, while the Tokyo Dome show was in 2016, with SU having 18 years old, and Yui and Moa had recently turned 17!
Great reaction to a great song. Next reaction should be to “From Dusk Till Dawn” which was the song replacement for the International release of Metal Resistance. There is only one proper video available which is from one of the 2021 10 Budokan shows and I am sure it will blow your mind :)
