Doing this mission as Redhood feels almost poetic
I nearly fucking cried. Seeing Bruce decide he needed to sacrifice himself to down that Lazarus Pit, breaking free from its control… it’s heartbreaking to see Jason helping him, all for it to not amount to much. Bruce saved Jason one last time, truly.
Batman's characterstics are spilt between all the knights like how Robin is always smarter, bat girl with the whole bat thing, dick Grayson with the acrobatics and red hood is pure rage and strength.

I thought the same thing after watching some cutscenes and tried this game via GamePass. Replacing the Arkham combat with a coop-friendly combat system (making this a grindy coop game to begin with) was definitely a mistake. The combat just feels janky, dragged out and generally unfun. Movement feels restricted and even nearly every other aspect was done better in Arkham Asylum from 2009. The story might be interesting to watch but the moment I was sent into an empty and incredibly boring Gotham from Wish without anything to do besides 'FInd and beat up 10 random thugs in this sad excuse for an open world to progress the plot' I quit. I don't want to make Suicide Squad look like a better game - it has its very own flaws - but at least Suicide Squad has fun core gameplay - even if it gets repetitive fast - and an open world that doesn't look like it was generated by an algorythm. So my take on it is: Gotham Knights wasn't treated too harshly. The only thing it has going for it against Suicide Squad is that Batmans death is more climactic. Which isn't difficult in comparison. Both games are sadly a product of misguided executives at Warner.

I think red hood was the best choice to finish the game with because of how he could relate to what Bruce was going through after being revived.
I tried to argue with that and thought of some but after deciding to be reasonable and watch the entire thing first, bro now I wanna finish this game with Red hood, not Nightwing lol. Good flippin’ thought ngl.

@@benddoriv284 I don't think it's out of character. He's not a machine, even if he does seem that way at times. The reality is that it's over. His time as the Bat is ending, and now that he has to let go, he doesn't need to let go with worry. Because he knows, and has seen with his own eyes, that his successors are just as capable if not more so. That's what allows him to smile. That, and he doesn't really have to take anything so seriously at this stage. Not much to take seriously when you're moments away from your death. He chose to accept it, rather than take it grimly.

Agreed entirely. This games story was pretty much made for Jason, and all 3 of the others didn't fit as well at all. That said I'm just waiting for screen rant or game rant to claim batgirl should've been the soul protagonist or something. Politics ruins fun games and good stories to often.

The only _real_ things that can ruin a game are, bad level design, inadequatly realized stories, cluttered huds, microtransactions, and poor voice direction.
Interesting detail how the shadow starts to cover his upper face when he destroys the pit. Symbolizing his last moment of being Batman once again.

Hearing Jason say, "You never gave up on me, I'm not going to give up on you" just touched my heart. Like these two have different ideals and naturally, that almost made them enemies. But Bruce pulled Jason back from the brink of killing, and Jason really appreciated that the only father figure he ever had actually didn't give up on him despite their differing ideals. These two easily have the best dynamic out of all of Batman's sidekicks.

5:52, I love this detail, you can clearly see the Lazarus coming from Jason's body as he let himself consumed a bit by it. He won't kill Talia in respect for his father, but he's damn sure that he's gonna hurt her so bad for what she did.

I like to think in the end, not only did Jason help Batman overcome what going through the pit did to him, but that Batman got a better understanding of Jason and realized Jason was the way he was because when he came out of the pit he didn’t have Batman there to help him like this.

This is the problem I have with these cutscenes. Jason was resurrected by the Lazarus Pits, so Talia even starting a conversation with, "Do you know, child, a Lazarus Pit can be used for more than just saving people from the brink of death?"
Should have ended with Jason going, "No shit. Did you forget that you were there for my resurrection?" and then for an added bit of comedy, have him realize where this conversation is going. "...Wait, you didn't...Aw, crap!"

This is probably a hot take but Jason in this game has the best writing out of any Jason portrayal outside of the comics.
I love Arkham Knight Jason, but even then his characterization wasn’t done amazingly as it’s just writing him as a dude out for revenge and his arc throughout the game was performed so clumsily with his redemption.
The game killed him twice and still cannot live up to Arkham series....

These remind me of mortal kombat cutscenes, just exposition and reacting to single attacks in a wide open space. At least in the opening cutscene we had a really cool fight with hand to hand combat and environmental interaction.
Both being WB might factor in as well.
Jason's interactions with the batfam and in particular Alfred are the standouts.

Uh... there were no mechanics at all to worry about. Of the boss fights, Mecha-Freeze was harder with more going on, and Clayface was a bit annoying with needing to have him positioned in certain ways. Bruce and Talia? Stay away when they're dangerous, tap tap em when they're not. Wasn't terribly impressive for an endgame fight.
Batman got killed, then Bruce got resurrected and got his mind twisted, then his mind got restored and then he gets stabbed, and then he sacrifices himself to stop the court of owls and buy Jason time to escape
