- This is a video of my returning to an amazing metal detecting area in a cool river where the year before I found a 178 awesome silver coin hoard. This adventure is shot over three trips on three separate days. I originally shot the video with the intent of showing much more of the river and what I think happened there. However, I changed my original focus of the video and had to heavily edit my footage. So the video is somewhat choppy and doesn't flow as well as I planned. BUT I do find a bunch more coins and have some good video of that. I thought some of you may enjoy what I was able to salvage of the footage.

Out of all the relic and coin hunters on youtube, you have the most informative and entertaining vids. Very well done and I appreciate all the trouble you go to to document your set up and finds. Thanks for the camera info. Just bought a Replay prime. Going to try and film some digs when it warms up. Found some great archive info that points to some stage coach stops and Inn's during the time some of the Southern states became US territory. Can't wait....

what helps in looking down through shallow water is a bucket with the bottom cut out, replaced with a good quality acrylic glued from inside. lets you see several feet down, and with the acrylic covered by cloth, the bucket is still useful as a bucket.

Wow....kind of makes you wonder what the heck happened in that area to be so lucky with halves and dollars.That was a lot of money in those days just to be strewn around in a river.Even though I am 5 years late in watching this.....I wouldn't tell anyone....not even a best friend about this spot..!!
This is what i think happened. The latest coin you found was 1837. What else happened in that year? The panic of 1837! The panic of 1837 was the worst economic recession ever, even worse than thw great depressions. Someone proboly hid their coins and valuables there and was planning on digging them up afterwards. The person proboly died before he had the chance though.

I think somebody was crossing the river duting high water and didnt make it. Death would be the only reason that much money was left behind. Simply amazing.

THAT DETECTOR IS BUZZING LIKE CRAZY , I WOULD SEARCH THAT RIVER OR LAKE INCH BY INCH. THOSE 8 REALES AND CAPPED BUST LOOK GREAT AND THEY ARE WELL PRESERVED. THIS IS THE 3RD VIDEO I HAVE WATCHED YOU PULL THOSE SILVER COINS OUT. GOOD LUCK BUDDY.
Beau omlette (I think I saw someone else say that) if you carry on searching down river and at the banks edges I'm sure you'll find more there as what I think happened is crates of money were lost in the river somehow from a Bank that was nearby at the time further up stream
you need to get old maps (google earth) and try and find the story
If you do that then you could quite easily be made for quite some time into the future not that money gains are your hearts desire which is humbling to hear
Keep being true to yourself and I'm hooked now on all your vids they're so uplifting

I just watched another video about looking around water / streams and think this is a very good idea. I'm surprised they're not more corroded having been in water that long.

Probably the worst stuff I've seen had extra "help" from either being in salt water or chlorinated water.
At about the 3 minute mark it looked like a coin laying on the rocks near the bottom right of the screen. Congrats on the amazing finds.

Its the great way to detect, study/research is the key to great finds. I doing the same, spending hours studying maps and old journals

Yeah man--a good little dredge would pull some stuff from there for sure--but you are doing fine with the AT GOLD and Pinpointer. I took my brand new SAND SHARK over to a local beach area today and tried it for the first time. I took two homemade scoops and both failed me today--one flattened out on scoop blade and other one bent to crap and back--I threw both away down there at beack today. I'll have to buy me a dang good stainless scoop made tough. Found sinkers,3 cents,big junk ear ring--ha!

Great haul for you. When you get multiple lightening strikes that close it really is time to get out of the water! I have found that in my beach backwater hunts where there are no waves, an old (or new... take a leap of faith) ping-pong paddle makes a great fan for sand and silt. If it's good enough for the deep water pros it's good enough, and productive enough, for me. Good luck for the future.

I've only been hunting for about five years and I still flip out when I find an old iron leg off a cast iron stove. How in the world do you remain so calm. There are even sometimes, when you're holding a handful of coins, when you sound bored.

Florida has a lot of secrets that go back a very long time as you know then. I was shocked at the amount of just local area clues there are to hidden stashes and never recovered loot. Good Luck!
I'm planning to write a book about my detecting adventures sometime in near future. I've written many articles for Lost Treasure over last ten years. I'll tell about times I detected for minutes before discovering the machine wasn't on--ha! I'll tell how I found an egg on beach,picked it up,slammed it down on beach, and egg stink went all over my clothes. I had to go to a store and buy strong car air freshener&put it on me to tolerate hunting for the remainder of the evening--God that was rough!

Seems like those thunderstorms are picking on you a little bit. You got to be careful on those rivers. Its crazy how fast water levels can change during a heavy downpour. Especially on those larger creek beds and small rivers.

Your Retirement fund is moving right along! LOL..I saw you mention that you have hunted in Florida before. I am from the Daytona Beach area and did lots of research and exploring all over the area. There are a few secret places I still haven't detected yet. Can't wait to get back there.
