  • All Stages Tekken 3 vs TAG 1 differences/comparison.
All stages from the Tekken 3 Arcade version, compared to its alter versions in Tekken Tag Tournament Arcade version. Tekken 3 Arcade OST has been used for the following stages.
    Paul Phoenix/Bryan Fury - Punk Alley, USA - 00:04
    King II - Skyring, Mexico - 00:35
Lei Wulong - Hong Kong Street, China - 01:16
    Ling Xiaoyu - Carnival, China - 01:55
    Hwoarang - Taekwondo Dojo, Korea - 02:35
Jin Kazama - Tiger Dojo Tokyo, Japan - 03:12
    Yoshimitsu/Mokujin - Forest, Japan - 03:49
    Forest Law/Kuma II/Panda - Martial Arts Dojo, China - 04:25
    Nina Williams/Anna Williams/Gun Jack - Laboratory Courtyard, Russia - 05:09
    Eddy Gordo/Tiger Jackson - Grassy Land, Brazil - 05:40
    Heihachi Mishima/Julia Chang - Mexican Temple (Ogre's Temple Entrance), Aztec - 06:22
    Ogre's Temple, Aztec, Mexico - 06:22
Jin Kazama/Ling Xiaoyu (alternate) - Mishima Polytechnical High School, Japan 06:59
True Ogre - Ogre's Temple, Aztec (Darkened Vers.) - 07:41
Interesting discoveries while recording for this video:
-Most footage is taken from the arcades demo play as it gives a better view of the stages!
-Nina's stage in Tekken Tag never appears in demo play or in the arcade mode, only in VS!
-Same is with Orgres Temple, which doesn't appear in the demo play either in Tekken 3 or TAG.
-School stage is hidden in Tekken 3, Jin and Xiaoyu need to wear school uniforms. (School stage only has one of the character's music, but in this edit, I placed the mid-boos stage music from the original Arcade instead)

True, to most not many stages in the Tekken games are based on actual places, so it's interesting to see sometimes when they did that, back in the days!

Man thank you so much for taking your time to make this video, no one has ever paid enough attention to the arcade version of Tekken Tag 1, which i consider better than the PS2 one in many many aspects. The differences between Tekken 3 arenas and Tekken Tag are very interesting in my opinion and i always love to point each one of them. What annoys me very much is the impossibility of getting some sort of art work or some stuff related to the original files of each stage of Tekken Tag arcade, i have dedicated a lot of time searching in the whole web and i have never foung anything. i'd really LOVE to put some of the backgrounds of any TTT arena as wallpaper for my PC

Would there be any way to import Tekken 3 stages into Tag? I just think it would be really cool to have two different version (Yoshimitsu’s Spring/Winter stage for example)

If only the PSX had more processing power and the discs had more storage. I could easily see Tekken 3 being even better than it already is, and probably a predecessor to what we see in the most recent games; day-night transitions between rounds, higher poly counts, alt versions of stages for characters that share a stage with someone, fully fleshed out backgrounds like in the arcade versions rather than the 2D panoramas in the console version. But hey wisful thinking. This shit is dope regardless. Long live the Iron Fist.

I think it’s a one/two punch of less colorful stages, and more grainy textures in Tag. I wonder if it’s caused by a technical limitation due to the tag system, or if it was just a stylistic choice to differentiate it from T3?
