The USA take on Australia in the quarterfinal of the men's basketball tournament at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
This clip features a full reply of the game that took place at the North Greenwich Arena (9 August).
Basketball made its appearance at the Olympic Games in 1904 in St Louis as a demonstration sport, as the competition was held between only American teams and counted as an event of the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU of the USA) Championships.
At the Games in 1936 in Berlin, basketball joined the Olympic programme, where it has remained to this day. Women's basketball debuted at the 1976 Games in Montreal.

Does Curry ever play for USA?
Jonathan Halloran I believe he did but it wasnât that year because d rose was in his prime or just leaving it and curry didnât really get recognition till like 2014
It doesn't feel right knowing Kobe's gone while watching this. He's more than a hall of famer. Rest in peace, Mamba.
Commentators in the first half: Kobe hasnât been hot because he takes bad shots
Kobe in the second half: hold my beer
I think Australia did extremely well considering who USA is.
I agree
Yeah, true
we still drop 119 on them
With monsters like Lebron and Kobe on the team, not to mention the rest, it would be an embarrassment for the U.S. not to get a score like that. Australia did extremely well despite the massive skill difference between the two (despite the U.S. not playing much defense), still, a commendable effort.
***** Yeah, there were a lot of great players...
It's just wonderful to see NBA superstars playing in the same team
Oh kobe. A true assassin. He played the game as a 2 guard should. Relentlessly. RIP Mamba.
Kobe Bryant, four 3-point baskets in a row.. What a game! What a performance! This guy is INCREDIBLE. RIP King of Basketball.

I'm gonna be honest. I love basketball and I'm Australian. But this Australian commentator doesn't really know anything about basketball. He's just a sports commentator.
Hello
How is he a bad commentator while Australia is the 2nd best Basketball country in the world?

I'm an American and a huge basketball fan. I love the NBA and always root for my own national team, but honestly I believe the Australian team should be proud of their performance. I see Australia really making big strides in the future. I expect to see good things from the Aussies in 2016.

Australia and U.S.A are two children of England English Nation, I really enjoyed watching them playing .
I feel like K-Love was the only one who played with heart in this game for the USA. The other Americans just shot like crazy but they're skilled and can score but K-Love played with his heart and scored. There's a difference.
Iâm literally here after Australia won their first Bronze Medal and USA won their fourth consecutive Gold. Australia has come such a long way. Way to go Boomers and Team USA! From a proud Duel-Citizen of both countries đșđžđŠđș
Love how the Australian commentator has the balls to call out Kobe's selfish play style and how the American fails to acknowledge it.
Well that's why he's known as the best basketball player in the world at this moment, he only plays with the lakers in America , the people representing America is usually the best players from the nba , so it's just a. Bunch of alpha dog players on a team,
Give Australia the respect they deserve. You have NBA superstars. The best and biggest league in the world. We have NBL. Something you haven't heard of.
@Bayley Kovacic
I'm American and I have respect for Australian basketballđThese guys who are being disrespectful with their comments are just being jerks and I apologize for them (: There's no need to be disrespectful or rudeâ

Actually in the last FIFA World Cup,the USA came in 23rd place overall. Now even though it's not even in the top 10,it's still pretty good considering the fact that there were 208 countries in the World Cup.Even though it's 23rd place,it's still WAYYYYYYYYYY better than what Australia came in.Australia came in 94th place! So if you say that the US sucks at soccer, what does that say about Australia?Do some research before you make claims like so.(As for rugby and cricket,I'm gonna have to agree that we suck at those, cricket and rugby aren't popular in the US)

the power of Joe Ingles, he dont need to get back on D, the ball magically flies out of the opponents hand.
The fourth quarter run was one of the most dominant stretch of basketball I've ever seen any team play. This 2012 national team was something else, the last time we sent an elite team to represent our country in an olympic games.
So this team has:
- 5 regular season mvp
- 4 Finals mvp
- 6 All-star mvp
- 6 scoring champions
- 4 assist leaders
- 1 rebound leader
- 1 steal leader
- 1 DPOY
- 1 sixth man of the year
- 3 rookie of the year
- 7 first team all NBA, 3 second team all NBA, 1 third team all NBA (11/12)
- 12/12 all-stars
- 17 nba championships
This is literally 20 years of NBA history on a team. I think the only teams that matches this level is the 2008 and the 1992 team.
The USA plays harder than this against themselves. This is literally just playing with yall
+CJ smith and why is cp3 always getting crossed tf up đ

Love patty, giving us Aboriginal ballers a great role model.
Yeah fucken oath his play in this years Olympics was incredibly admirable, he led by example (the best way to be a leader) and was playing that Final for the Bronze Medal like his life depended on it.
James was beast on the court he had me rolling!!!
Call Him LeBron
That American commentator said Carmelo was 203 lbs, when u can look at Melo and tell he's closer to 230. I forgave that, but he said Deron Williams was mostly known as a defensive player for most of his career, and has come on offensively in the last few years, lol comedy.
And the Australian dude is just a guy watching the game and making comments.
i think he actually said that anthony was 203cm tall, which equates 6'8", but yeah the williams thing is a bit of a head scratcher
Melo closer too 250 lmao
Rewatching these throwback games feels like Kobe and David Stern are still alive. RIP to these two đ

Great quality! Thanks!

I really miss my idol Kobe Bryant. You are a true legend
This team had some serious depth
i hope Australia continues to produce better and better players. im american but i find that foreign players add variety to the sport. Guys like dirk have such a unique game. Bogut is thought of as a bruiser but he has more refined skills than the average big body
seeing how much australia has grown as a basketball country since this is crazy
If Andrew Bogut played this game it could of made a huge difference, USA would of had a lot less offensive rebounds and it would of been a close game towards the end
Maybe, maybe not. It was an excellent effort by Aus.
I doubt it
bogut would help but USA woulda still won by a lot
Stop lying kid
Andrew Bogut would not that much of difference stop talking rubbish! This not cricket or rugby MF!
1:47:03 lol watch kobe push mills
mills be like ok broooo hahaha
Australia MEN (though having produced some good players) dont stack up with the Americans, however the Aussie women have been the best team in the world aside from the USA for about a decade. This distinction does need to be made if you say "Austraila isnt a good basketball country/isnt good at it".
It isnât
It's easy to forget that Philadelphia 76ers coach Brett Brown coached that Aussie team in 2012. His years in Australia also helped him connect with and coach eventual ROY Ben Simmons.
look at how Lebron's assist is in his early days, even now hes playing at his peek in terms of passing, what a goat.
Well the fact that he's from the UK and has to learn every country's players in the basketball side of the olympics and he knew some accolades of the players is pretty impressive...give him some credit.
21:40 behind James, behind James, behind!!!
Itâs actually behind Baynes. It was one of the Australian coaches talking.
"Behind baby, behind baby behind" yall deaf or something
Few days before 2018 still watching
RIP Kobe! We love you so much
I'm American btw, but the American commentator was talking to much about the nba in an international basketball tournament
Sky Ung I aggre with you
Redline it is National Basketball Association, not National Basketball League
It's not like the NBA is for americans only. Have you seen how many foreign players there are in the NBA? For example, number 9 on Australia is the backup point guard for Kyrie Irving for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Great players like Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, Ricky Rubio, Serge Ibaka, Luis Scola, Andrew Bogut, Kyrie Irving, Steve Nash, etc... 92 foreign players in the NBA from anywhere from Spain to the Congo. There are hall of famers, all stars, champions from foreign country. There is nothing wrong with talking about a league with 92 international players during a tournament of international teams.
it doesnt matter what country he represented he was born in australia

i was shock in the beginning aus was holding it down but by the 4th reality kicked in even though I'm american and will always route for team its seams unfair we looked overpower lol maybe they should play against ouur third strings to make it fair
lololol Maybe you should go to school and learn some grammar? hmm?
Rory Shannon my grammar isn't perfect but at the end day you understood what i said
***** I think America deserves some respect after beating a very good Spain team in 2 Gold Medal games
i think that u should show some respect for Australia, playing against third strings that would be embarassing
56madguy whats wrong with third strings or the bench they play the regulars all the time doing scrimmages so i thought let them play against our second best so they can have a more realistic type of game because all i kept seeing were blowouts
That consecutive three's by kobe is amazing!
Eversince, USA is the best in basketball. Being a champion is automatic to them.

AUmarcus it's not impossible plus looking at the USA team now it's not as good as it used to be
This was one of the most stacked teams we have ever had in an international competition. When we roll out the A team like this it's just too much.
***** 6 months late but I have to agree, and I'm not even one of those the modern NBA will never be as good as the classics type. I'm willing to admit somebody like Lebron could be the greatest of all time.
But the Dream Team is the greatest and would be hard to surpass. Two reasons for this being that the Olympics happened in a year right between the passing of torches of two generations of basketball. The older being that of Bird and Magic, the younger being Jordan, Barkley, Ewing. Not only that, but the mentioned older generation came off a long reign and quickly into a newer one, making the veterans not so old.
Also, the dream team had a strong 1-5. The 4 and 5 has been weak compared to the guard heavy play in the past 10 years.
I'm not saying they won't be surpassed, but I can probably say the theoretical team will not contain a Lebron James, as he seems to be a part of a "long reign generation."
The fear you must feel on a fast break with James trailing you lol
