I had a experience where the rear cable broke to the tail .we landed in a field immediately after take off with minor damage to the plane,but it could have been alot worse.

      the ground crew asked us not to push the rudder (just the rudder only) over on out preflight inspection. I can't imagine the cable sliding off the pulley or whatever, still can't imagine why. i always grab the control surfaces and waggle them while looking at the linkage points, especially on rental planes

  • @jelliott4
    @jelliott4 Před 4 lety +8

    Wow--surprisingly accurate--nicely done. (But note that the break point of the first small pulleys in the aileron loop should really be collinear with the pivot of the column; that's like the whole point of the joggle in the column, which you've illustrated as a joggle to the right when it should be a joggle to the rear to help that pivot line up with the break point of those pulleys.)

    • @ivanljujic4128

      Actually, bigger planes use semi-automated flight control system, which uses hydraulic pistons and stuff like that to move ailerons, elevators and rudder. You shouldn't be afraid if you are flying in larger planes... But I still can't guarantee that there is no way of something being broken.

  • @lisabreuer6390
    @lisabreuer6390 Před 2 lety

    sort of a fine point...I have nearly 10,000 hours teaching flying and 6 days a week tell people GET YOUR FEET OFF THE TOP of the pedals LOL. Those are the brakes. Make sure you all understand that the rudder pedals do not "rotate" as you depress them - they push directly forward. This video is fantastic, but it does imply that the rudders are to rotate forward as they are depressed.
    The brakes (toe brakes of course, not heel brakes like on cubs and stuff) are on the top of the pedals and every week someone tries to take off with the right brake on slightly, because they are increasing that necessary right rudder to offset the left turning tendencies found during take off. (All high power and low airspeed configurations will cause at least one left turning tendency, and the solution is always right rudder). So Please - when you start your lessons, understand that you have to mentally make a big effort to PULL YOUR FEET DOWN and think "steer with your toes" so you do not cover the entire pedal with your foot and apply light braking unintentionally.

      aircraft have various n day inspections and maintnance. These are probably on a low n. They n are factors of each other. So if you have a 52 week inspectin you have to do it on 52 nd week, as well as any other inspections/maintance that is also come up of lower intervals. So these are probably inspected regularly. Also usually the aircraft are designed with redudancy so there are several redundant wires in different parts of the aircraft mitigating commonality.

    The rudder pedal movement is not portrayed correctly. Yawing movement is controlled by pushing left or right pedal straight in and out. Braking on ground is done with both pedal tops being pushed in by the toes.
