The Thunder Just Made a STATEMENT vs the Mavericks...

- Round two of the NBA Playoffs continued with game one of the Oklahoma City Thunder vs the Dallas Mavericks where Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams, and Chet Holmgren made a statement in a blowout win at home while Luka Doncic continued to really struggle and Kyrie Irving wasn't able to lift the team over the hump. Despite what many people continue to believe, the Thunder are really good. Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics blew out the Cleveland Cavaliers behind great play from Jaylen Brown and despite Jayson Tatum struggling. Donovan Mitchell tried his best, but it continues to seem like nobody in the Eastern Conference can really slow down the Celtics and they may just be destined to make the NBA Finals. Let's talk about it.

Everyone thought the series with the Clippers was over after G1. Casuals never learn
Well said suck it okc fans

came after game 2 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I hope u keep the same energy and post about the mavs winning
Have the mavericks made a statement yet
I wonder how long it’s gonna take till Hayward scores a bucket
Worst trade in history lol
he won’t
He just don’t got it anymore
Probably won't because he's at his best as the 1st or 2nd scoring option, which he'll never be in OKC with the starters & bench we have
@@Edd-zd5wbwe have no idea what he’s doing for them
update?
Luka looked like Kawhi health wise
Luka is faking bruh. SGA is dealing with a sprain ankle and a thigh contusion
Don’t ever compare lukas health to kawhis health again lmao there are players who are in much worse shape than luka who are still managing to be very valuable for their team despite the odds. Embiid of all players the playoff choker who’s been horribly injured all season had a 50 piece on 88.5% TS there are no excuses.
At least Luka was playing lmao
Luka looks more like Harden. Over used by a bad team that didn't build around him and pretend to be a contender.
He’s out on the court so he doesn’t look anything like Kawhi. Yall wasn’t saying this when he was hitting daggers against the clippers.
“too young” we don’t care about that crap😭 we here man🫡🌩️
I’m here after game 2 😄...#Mffl we evened the series and I say all that to say there’s no favourite in this series all games can go either way..
as a mavs fan i can confidently say i don’t think we’re gonna win the series with a 60% luka. thunder in 6
Considering they playing against the reffs too
Cry, tell your boy shoot better. 19 points, not enough 😂@49hun
@@49hunmavs fans wine just like their daddy Luka 😂
@@49hun yea kinda hard when your team allows 45% three point shooting (most of them open btw) but yea, refs.
@@49hun This was similar to the Pelicans games, the refs are saving the OKC offense on countless possessions. It was frustrating to watch. Ofcourse a lot of them were fouls, but they did NOT give those exact same fouls to the Mavs on the other end.
For everyone complaining that Shai got too many free throws, he attempted 13 and made 10. Luka attempted 10 and made 6. Both of them were getting fouls called in their favor
All fouls. Shai is awesome. I dont get the hate. MJ also was going to the line all the time. I guess people would hate him too?
also I’m pretty sure 2 of Shai’s free throws were for technicals
Shai had 11 attempts in the first half which created the lead. The entire mavericks team had 12 attempts in the first half… it’s not ethical hoops.
Look at Joel Embiid he is 7ft and is on the floor throughout the whole game with 20 plus free throws
@hobowithagun24 it's only unethical if no foul occurred.

He bussin cuz his thunder lost

If Luka doesn't fix his jumpshot this series is over in 4..

Wow I’ve never seen a take turn so quickly 🤣
Be quiet now
Dallas always gets blown out game 1 tbh, Under JKidd Dallas is 0-5 in Game 1s. Only onw which was close was Utah. Don't think it matters.
That’s terrible lmao Mavs an instant loss in openers is actually disgusting
Under J Kidd they've never played a team as talented and deep. OKC in 6

What Cone really meant in the title
*MY THUNDER just made a statement vs the Mavericks… 😂
The Thunder has one guy that can shut down the other team best player which is Lu Dort. Luka production is now going to be down not because of injury but due to how good the defensive team OKC is. I see Thunder in 5 and may be even a sweep. They still unbelievable how they underestimate the Thunder. This team is really good and deep!!!!
I disagree. I understand that luka is being guarded by dort and is being shutdown. But dort is not the reason he is shooting this bad, it really is the injury
@@jacobholley6668I say it’s a evil combination of both
Lu Dort didn't do anything this game defensively that hurt the Mavs offense. He was great hitting his threes, as he tends to be in pressure situations, but his defense, while impactful normally .. wasn't effective on Luka. He simply missed all but one of his step-back threes, he missed most of his midrangers, which were open as well and he even missed a couple of bunnies.
Now the team defense, with Lu Dort running him into 1-2 players in the paint, that was really effective. So you can probably credit Lu Dort for that. At least Luka had to make hard shots. Normally he'd make those, but now he didn't
Remember, even with Luke injured, they said we were gonna get rocked. Now it’s “oh he’s injured, it doesn’t count”
Exactly 🤣
Let the series develop for a bit. I'm under no illusion that the series is going to be easy, especially when Luka isn't himself. He has bounced back from worse things in his NBA life, give it a game or 2.
@@pinobluevogel6458 nah people were saying they were going to get swept where they at now ?
@@user-dh7dj3yw1b I have no idea who those people are, but the Thunder aren't going to get swept by anyone. If they lose vs the Mavs, which I think is going to happen, it will be 6 or 7 games probably.
@@pinobluevogel6458 I’m definitely not saying the series is over. But nobody gives the Thunder credit and that’s what they’re doing with Luka’s injury as if Kyrie can’t drop 40 each game and takeover.
Make sure refs allow BOTH teams to play physical, credit to OKC making shots 2nd half but can’t allow one team to play physical and the other one to be called for the smallest things.
Agreed
Thunder had 3 more FT than the Mavs. Stop the BS with the take. They cut it to 1 and got man handle after that. Mavs role players need to play better.
This is an issue. The mavericks players rightfully got frustrated with all the calls. A straight up and down contest from Lively got 2 freethrows on 2 attempts, while Luka got slapped on his arm and had Dort pull on his arm on another attempt, with no call. It's like the Pelicans vs Thunder series all over again. If there isn't an OKC to the WCF conspiracy from the refs, it sure as hell looks like one.
@@malcolmadair8373 It is not about the amount of freethrows, it is about the justification of those freethrows, the lack of calls for the exact same fouls that were made on the other end. Also, there were quite a few possessions that the Thunder got bailed out with freethrows, while the contest was clean. I know the refs can't see everything, but the disparity on those was annoying for a viewer, but would be amazingly frustrating for a Mavericks player. I'm surprised Luka didn't get a tech or something this game.
@@pinobluevogel6458 Dude did you watch the fucking game? One team constantly drives the damn ball. The other doesn't. When you go into the paint and defenders are hitting you at every point there is going to be fouls called. OKC took 22 ft before the half and 6 after you know why? Because they stopped driving. Fans want to sit and complain about the FT difference but there wasn't much difference. Luka took 10 SGA took 13 and one was a tech for a defense 3 seconds. A one point game in the 3rd turned into a beat down. Always complaining but never understanding. Dallas played physical as well but not on offense. OKC doesn't bump bodies to try and throw the offense off their spots, OKC doesn't reach in on shots. People complain to complain over absolutely nothing. Maybe some of the calls were a little questionable but not every single one. Especially since the FT were pretty much even.
As a Mavs fan this shit just sucks. God tier season from Luka and the best team he’s ever had only for him to get hurt and go on the worst stretch of basketball ive ever seen him play RIGHT at the beginning of the playoffs. Just tough luck man.
It’s not tough luck. He has played TOO MUCH since the summer with Slovenia. Us Mavs fans are suffering because he won’t take his body seriously.
@@parkerC1990sas a thunder fan I agree. Luka has not been taking care of himself the way he should as a professional athlete
@@sneakrzzz8669 That is such a speculation take, what crazy inside knowledge do you have about how Luka is taking care of his body? What recovery methods he uses, what kind of rehab, what kind of food, supplements, physical therapy and the amount of rest?
I understand that you want to blame him for underperforming, but he has been hurt many, many times this season and it's not like he doesn't want to perform at the best possible level he can. Just think about such a comment. Do you really think Luka, with all his support, his personal assistants and staff, wouldn't do everything in his power to stay on the floor as effective as possible?
He dropped 43 with the exact same Injury...... you mavs fans are just sad. Luka isn't 100 percent, but he's like 90. He just had a bad game, it happened. Quit over stating this. He'll probably be better next game.

The statement was the Shai has the best whistle in the league.
It soured my Tuesday night.
Among the final 4 team In the east, the Pacers are the healthiest but Celtics have the deepest line up in the east, especially if Porzingis was not injured.
What up man. Great takes. And let's just sweep.. why not?
Even though I think OKC vs Timberwolves would be the most electrified series to watch, I can see Boston as the fav to won the championship. Is the only team that has 5 versatile players, all can be slashers, shoot 3s and defend too, so can create a plain field against the wolves. Major concern is Tatum's performance lately but they improved at crunch time. This team plays like a better version of healthy LAC with ton of spacing and better defense, and I hope not to flop like LAC in the end.
PS: I'm rooting for Sonics and good basketball, so this is an unbiased opinion.
It's going to be Mavs in 6 vs the Timberwolves. Then it's going to be Mavs in 5 vs the Celtics, maybe 6 if they pull another of these J Kidd game one nonsense games.
Are you going to do one for the Celtics?
Watch the last ~ 2 minutes of the video
Until the series is over, the series ISNT OVER.. just remember this: the NBA will NEVER allow OkC to win a C'hip. Don't fool yourselves.
I feel like they got a TON of help already. Have you even seen the Thunder vs Pelicans series?
They didn't even need the help, but they for sure did get a lot.
And the statement is: thats why you go for the 1st seed.
To the Wester Conf Finals having played mid teams (as Mavs are with an injured Luka).
Having said that. What a team! How can you draft that many great prospects. The only mistake was the Hayward trade. I dont understand WTF was that. They wanted a white dude?
That's what I thought when l saw Hayward too. He will be facing the basket for easy 2 and pass it back out!!! WTH!! 😅
Hayward is a pretty solid player that can do a little bit of everything, but they really don't need him. My guess is that he will be gone in the off-season.
@@pinobluevogel6458 Hayward WAS that. Hes beyond washed

"Too young" Luka is younger than Shai by like 200+ days lol. People crazy.
And he played as a pro since 16 years old. Yes, he's older as a player.

You would say that as a OKC fan 😤 lol jk OKC are the real deal and they're young with all that draft capital! Keep the key pieces and keep drafting young talent. Could be a dynasty if they can stay healthy
It was my first time to an NBA game, and as a thunder fan I couldn't have had a better time. I got to see this all in person.
I do wanna say though, Dallas fans are down right awful. At least in every interaction I had with them. Im not so ignorant to say all mavs fans are like that, but both at the game and online they're all just whining. You guys lost ONE game, and its nothing but excuses. If you love your team you dont make excuses, you have confidence.
Instead of "luka is hobbled" and "SGA gets calls," maybe just say "we'll get it next time." That's what I say when my Thunder lose. Yall are just babies.
Also, this bs about luka being hurt, its prevalent sure, but not worst game of his career level. He had the same exact injury since game 3 last series and still had AMAZING games. Its all good until yall lose huh?
Where did the SGA hate even come from?
Thunder win a home game with obscure referring and 60% 3s. Yeah… what a statement. Clippers series was beyond physical, this was a girls game
Luka needs to get in shape. He is limiting his potential. His injury is directly related to his weight.
He was in shape for a while and was still getting hurt, I really don’t think it has anything to do with weight. he gets pushed and shoved almost every game it hard not to get injuries when you do all that.
@@A-drizzledrizzle Maybe. But I dont understand how a 25 year old young athlete continues to stay in that form. Same goes for Jokic. They have every expert and equipment at their disposal. That is sheer laziness.
@@goktugblack not everyone’s bodies are made the same. I’ve been injured when I was in the best condition of my life sometimes you get banged up driving to the rim 🤷
He has been in the best shape of all his years in the NBA. This is a bullshit take. He was playing 40+ minutes quite often, averaging 30 pts triple doubles and having 2 steals and half a block a game at some point. Luka was in good shape, but he is injured now.
Let’s gooo thunder ⛈️🆙
Josh Giddy could end up costing the Thunder. His confidence is gone. Only played 17 minutes and got 2 points. Coincidentally the Thunder went on their run once Giddy went to the bench.
Costing this series is a bit much. He for sure wasnt doing his best basketball for this last game but his confidence has imo been rising steadily since march and he sealed game 4 for us just last series. The biggest liability he presents is that hes an option for coaches to hide a 5 on so that that 5 wouldnt have to guard chet out pn the perimeter.
Giddey almost single handedly pulled the OKC through the game 4 vs the Pelicans, by hitting 3 consecutive threes in the 4th quarter, while they left him intentionally open so they could load up on defense elsewhere. I think he deserves a bit of credit for that.
That said, there is no reason he should be in the starting line-up over Wiggins, Wallace or Joe. All of them are considerably more valuable in their own way.
He's not gonna cost them because they'll just bench him if he's being a liability
giddey can still be a weapon. that's about the only good thing i can say about him. when shai isn't doing great, he can step up and pull through. he's done a few times.
Should be titled Aaron Wiggins saved basketball
Agreed. He is a champ. He is good defensively and he hits his threes at a very high rate. What more do you want?
The Mavs had their bench in at 5 minutes, the thunder didn't come out to 3.which should have been 5.
Let’s go Thunder!
Do l hear crickets amongst the Mav fans.! 😅
It's actually hilarious how mavs fans come to this video and argue against pure facts such as how many free throws each team shot and that luka didn't get free throws. They actually act like luka played well and shai was flipping the whol e game
Luka played like ass. Especially considering how impactful and insane he normally is. Kyrie wasn't great, but as usual he stepped up (a bit) in the late parts of the game. Even the roleplayers weren't hitting most of their open shots.
That said, there was still an issue with the referees. It was not as glaring as in the Pelican series, but there were quite a few instances (I counted at least 4) where the mavs defender was defending cleanly and they still granted freethrows. There were a whole lot more instances where the Mavs defender fouled, which resulted in freethrows, but this was not the case on the other end with the same fouls. Luka got clobbered 2 times and it was a play-on. Kyrie got bumped while IN THE AIR, which is an automatic foul, as it is extremely dangerous ... it was an out of bounds OKC ball.
Seriously, fuck the refs and their onesided nonsense. The Mavs still might not have won the game, but at least it would have felt a bit more fair.
Still doesn't take much away from OKC, they really stepped up and put the game away once they smelled blood.
I want the Mavs to win 100% but OKC showed up
Timeout… Thunder fans are not better than Knicks fans this playoffs lol, Knicks fans even went into Philly and took over their building. They are like a European soccer fan base right now
Thunder up!
They not sweeping the knicks
Lol Luka was playing like this in the 1st rd bcuz of the knee and that's the issue now. Not the thunder defense.
The Thunder did take away his driving lanes completely, Lu Dort maneuvered him into a few defenders on several occasions. When Luka wasn't hit in those drives, he did get it to an open corner shooter most of the time though, they simply didn't make enough of them.
OKC in 5
It’s annoying now that the lakers aren’t in the playoffs the media is only talking about Minnesota if they speak on the thunder it’s only for 2 minutes

@@Samisgood478 true! it will be very interesting to see how they gonna ref it. defence that can be extremely physical vs guy that gets free throws when you look at him the wrong way 😆
Luka missed a lot of open shots. They were tough shots, but those are shots he ALWAYS takes. Step back threes, fade-away midrange, step through layups, nearly everything wasn't falling often.
Nah
They got lucky that refs bailed them out everytime and luka was hurt even if he is 50% he will cook you
Refs never missed an opportunity to blow whistle against mavs on both the ends
Game was over in first half when pj had 3 fouls ,gafford had 2 and lively and jones got 2 each
They were not calling same fouls against okc
Cope harder, thunder in 4
Dort had 5 freaking fouls!! Shai accidentally hit the player in the balls. Williams kept fouling down low and Chet. Fair calls❤
I agree with the OP, the foul calls were definitely in OKC's favor by quite a substantial margin.
Now was this enough to swing the game? Probably not. Luka was just not hitting anything and barely involved in the second half. J Kidd just didn't want to fight for this game with the Mavs in this state and threw in the towel.
Still, if the roleplayers just hit a few more threes and the calls were a little more fair .. it could have been a close game. So far, I like the Mavs' chances in close games.
You mean the reffs made a statement 😂
I'm just gonna say this ya'll are going to get humbled in the WCF by the Wolves. OKC got the #1 seed, which means they have the easiest path to the WCF. You guys are still 2-3 seasons behind of being a true contender. The Wolves will showcase your flaws. The amount of people on the TL saying "Omg ya'll just don't believe in this young team." It's not about believing, it's telling the truth of the matter.
No it’s just you didn’t watch them all season and think it’s a fluke. Yes they are young and the wolves have the pieces to beat them for sure but just say you haven’t watched a game.

I never understood the notion of this series thing more evenly contested. It always felt as if OKC was the way better team. And as a Bucks fan seeing this young team just makes me realize how screwed the Bucks are.
Y'all got knocked out of playoffs nothing to worry about.
@@EpicBladesPlays He is talking about the Bucks future. While OKC and the other young teams are only to get better, the Bucks are pretty much not going to go anywhere. It is going to be one or two more seaons at most and then the whole team is going to go into rebuild mode.
I got 4 points about this series:
1. Luka was not himself. His injuries were troubling him. He had more issues just hitting an open shot. Lu Dort didn't bother him at all, it was just him not being Luka. If he recovers a bit from this, he will be much, much better.
2. Aaron Wiggins is really good, he was good in all his minutes this season, he was good vs the Pelicans and he was good here. Why he is not in the starting lineup is a total mystery, he is clearly the 4th most important player on the team.
3. The Thunder got a ton of help from the refs, just about every call was in their favor on either end of the floor. I know Shai gets a lot of calls, but I saw at least 3 or 4 perfect defensive plays, where he still got freethrows while the defender was just defending straight up and down.
4. The rebounding was completely not realistic. This is the only game that the Thunder is going to have a rebounding advantage, the law of averages is going to meet up with them.
Jus say you dislike Okc man😂
The only thing you was right about was the luka everything else was just stupid
@@talentstosouthbeach4960 I genuinely don't. It is not the Thunder's fault they faced both of my teams in the first and the second round.
@@Wrestle_Kingdom I think the Aaron Wiggins comment was on point. He is a good defender and has stepped up in the postseason, hitting his shots. The one game he wasn't great in the Pelican's series they decided he was too good of a 3 point shooter and put top defenders on him. (of which the Pelicans have several)
Point 3 you could easily check for yourself. Start halfway in the 2nd quarter and see how much of those calls are normal 'playoff basketball' calls for the thunder. They got bailed out quite a few times. Now did this affect the endresult of the game? No. Was this frustrating for the Mavs? Hell yes.
Point 4 is simple. The Thunder are one of the worst rebounding teams, while the Mavs (since the Gafford / Washington trade) are one of the best. What I said was on point and will show in the upcoming games. Maybe it was lack of effort, maybe they were tired or out of sorts, or maybe the Thunder just stepped up in a big way .. I don't know, but the end result is there.
@@pinobluevogel6458 the issue with the Aaron Wiggins comment was you saying he the 4th most important player on okc which is not true he might not even be 5th but he has a case for being 5th the top 4 is easily shai, jdub, chet, and Lu dort him and Cason fighting for 5
Now the free throws we agree on because my main argument was going to be that the mavs didn’t lose due to free throws but there was some calls I was confuse about I just don’t like when fans use refs as a way to cope with losing
The rebounding I do agree was a bit unrealistic but the thunder since the trade deadline have been 15th in rebounding their rebound hasn’t been that big of an issue as people make it out to be since they changed there rebounding scheme
If zion was healthy it would've been a different story
Okc in 5 maybe yeah
Okc beat the pels with Zion in reg season
Even if Ingram was at full strength, that would have meant a lot.
Whoever wins this series (most likely OKC), won't stand a chance against Wolves.
No single doubt about that in my mind.
Easily the most laughable take I’ve seen in my life, congratulations
“Wont stand a chance” 😂
The wolves and thunder split 2-2 during the season, the wolves are beating up on a team that has 2 good players and no depth and a team that’s absolutely exhausted because they had no offseason, the pels and mavs aren’t the best teams in the league but to think the mavs or Thunder have no chance to beat the wolves is hilarious
The Nuggets don’t have very many good shooters and they have to have the whole offense go through Jokic so it’s easy to guard since Jamal is 💩’ing the bed. Thunder has like 6 players that can create their own shot
You would be surprised by this OKC team. Keep sleeping 😴
I tweeted last year after we lost in the play-in that the thunder would win 3 rings in the next 6 years, and mannnnnnnn I feeling pretty good about it.
That play-in game vs the Pelicans was so close. At least Ingram was playing his best game in that final month and the play-in series. It was such a tight game, if Lu Dort just hit a normal amount of threes, or CJ just hits his shots at a slightly more normal rate, or even Larry Nance wasn't out with injury, the game could have swung the other way.
This year though, the Pelicans were completely out of sorts. Without Zion or a healthy Brandon Ingram to lead them, the Pelicans do not simply work at all. Credit goes to the OKC defense, to the consistancy of their offense and to the great coaching Mark Dagnault did for their gameplan.
Tony brothers mvp of the game! He made a big statment
Remember when refs gave 20 free throws(nba playoff record) to Dirk against OKC? Cause I do. SGA had 13, Luka had 10 last night. 🤡
@@stevenadams7863 It is not about who got more freethrows, but which non-fouls got awarded with freethrows or which fouls didn't get called on the other end. To an OKC fan, this game was perfectly fine, but it was unevenly called regardless. It might not have swung the game, but it is still frustrating. Imagine how frustrating it must be for the Mavs players.
Shai was such a foul merchant in the first half. I know you're a Thunder fan so I'm not gonna expect you to remove your bias, but thay was an abysmal first half officiating heavily favoring OKC
Yeah cause Luka going 6-19 with 5 turnovers had nothing to do with it. Not to mention kyrie didn’t get going to the second half and Gafford struggled as well. But yeah a blowout is definitely the refs fault. 🤣
Gafford was fine, he missed a few very long rim attempts that were thrown to him too early or from too far out and he missed a single bunny as well, but that's about it for his fails. On another attempt he was simply blocked by Chet, which was just amazing defense. I don't think it is realistic to ask more of Gafford except for a few more rebounds.
@@pinobluevogel6458 But the point is the players that usually play well didn’t no other explanation. He is usually efficient and he wasn’t last night. Neither was Luka none of that other extra context matters.
@@user-dh7dj3yw1b Now that I've taken a look at the stats, he was very inefficient for a big, shooting at the rim only. He was a bit worse in the Clippers series, barely scoring points, but this was still not comparable to his in-season games.
That is the trouble if you go by eye-test, you remember him putting up great effort, but effort means very little if the ball doesn't go in often enough. Defensively he was quite decent though, having 5 blocks and quite few really good rotations and contests.
I think the Mavs needed a llittle more from everyone. Part of it was the defense of OKC affecting them a little, but the most of it was Luka barely being able to walk up the court and not making the plays he normally would. (for himself and the rest of the team)
