Gassy's Gas 'n Stuff | adult swim smalls - Krátké a kreslené filmy
Checking in on the views here a lil over a month later and just wanted to say thank you so much for all the love and support on this crazy little short we made!! I have really appreciated all the kind messages/comments, especially all the people mentioning ever working a job like this. Years workin at the gas station/convenience store made me the woman I am 😂❤
you also did the voice of lulu, no?
I got a job recently its just like this its crazy, especially the backroom being overstocked lol great vid
I hope we get to see more of Lulu!
this was absolutely phenomenal
amazing short
2:35 - "I'm just pickin' up my news and my brews"
He seems lovely. I hope he has a good day and enjoys his sportsball.
thank you!! I knew a guy at the gas station who convinced another customer he randomly got his Keystone Light tshirt from a 30 pack so this other guy kept buying Keystone Light in hopes of one day getting a tshirt
@@sarahmaeschmidt best Keystone Light salesman to ever live 😂
@@sarahmaeschmidt it's easy to trick alcoholics.
Reminds me of my dad, he played for the Florida gators.
@@Bluebottlenose what a legend 🐊
Honestly. The possum dude seems way chiller than actull customers. I worked at a dollar general and it was rare that customers were that chill about not having stuff in stock
"sorry there's none left"
"ARE YOU SERIOUS??"
I never even ask if something isn't in stock usually, because it's not like any one specific item is that important to me anyway.
Opossums actually got no controler over fainting/playing dead
As someone who respects those in retail, seriously you guys are freaking champions, I’m usually pretty chill about thing’s getting taken off. I just shrug it off as a bummer.
Dollar Tree it was the same story
I really love the detail of one of the cat's heads being happy and sweet, while the other is abrasive.
i didnt realize that the cat switched heads halfway through the animation lmao
@@misshoney2006 best part is that they swapped at the end of the night and then again when the sun rose!
@@janLikeliday supervisor vs night supervisor
Yup. Gotta be at least a little abrasive to survive night shifts.
just like real managers
I love that this isn't making jokes and it just feels like it's based on real characters you see in life over there.
This is like a show from the 90s or an early 2000s internet short.
you could just watch a live stream of a dude work, 100% no jokes
The joke is that this is just like real life ಥ_ಥ
Smiling Friends Smiling Friends Smiling Friends
This is what is called slice of life
Just imagine if they made this an actual series...
Oh god, yes.
Why, though? Like what was the point of all that?
@@icetraigh fun for its own sake, probably
@@icetraigh because this is an awesome animation and would be a great show.
@@nxrth9463How do you know it would be a great show based off of a 3 min short 😂
I like that she's such a good employee and saved that Chiller Low Life for the Opossum. That's a kind deed.
the weird echoey voice at 1:27 is saying "hey old friend, it's been, what, ten years?" for anyone who didnt hear it well
Thank you so much ❤
Thank you thank you
nice ears
This really captures the energy of your first day in customer service. Would definitely watch a full series
Not enough malicious customers. Although it seems most of the customers aren’t bad, just annoying.
I hope this gets greenlite
@@connormclernon26 most are just annoying.
@@connormclernon26 there aren't actually that many malicious customers, i say as someone who worked six years in customer service and only ever had like two or three be rude
as someone who works as customer service as my third job I like this alot
I love the artstyle, i also enjoy how its sort of fast paced with almost no jokes and such just sort of a cartoony version of real life. I honestly love this a lot and want this to be a series.
FR, I JUST WANT MORE!!!
the style vaguely reminds me of Vewn
Almost like Retsuko👀💕 love it
@@bunniifangz nahh, vewn's alot more dark and rough around the edges, this is really light hearted
@@FearborneEver seen Bojack Horseman or Tuca and Bertie where they have these crudely drawn (or not as detailed) parts in the series? Kinda reminds me of that.
2:27 the cat switching heads to let the other head sleep awesome detail
I love these sorts of cultural shorts. Really takes you into the life of rural/suburban America. The gas station. A place every citizen must visit multiple times through their lives. What a beautiful thing
Gas stations can get real spooky at night lol

oh I don't think Sarah Mae Schmidt made this with a show in mind because she makes a lot of fun shorts that she posts to her channel! I came here because she released Vegeversary which was like a year in the making if you wanna see more of her
@@thedeliveryboy1123 We did get the chance to do another one, coming out tomorrow :) wanted to come on CZcams and tell a few people in the comments haha. Thank you for the support!!!
Oh man. Please turn this into a series. I love the art style.
I agree
Yeah. It's refreshing. Super "organic" looking (instead of that too clean Family Guy-esque look) and not ugly like some "adult" shows can be.
And the animation is expressive and fun.
Turn yourself into a series
Man i would pay half my minimum wage just to get this on a full 8 seasons series, not jk
It's best as is, otherwise it will get ruined
NO WAIT
THERE'S MORE, RIGHT? YOU'RE GOING TO MAKE MORE, RIGHT???
All of these characters have so much gosh-dang character, and just, the timing and sound design, and frikkin' riffs. So good.
Ye it's so good. Wish it was a full series.
This is proof that stakes don't have to be remotely high to have something really engaging to watch.
yeah, slice of life is a genre that exists.
Chiller’s lowlife being a limited edition soda is pretty high stakes, I think.
The clerk said there will literally *never* be any in stock. Again.
Adult Swim, you're sitting on a goldmine.
I seriously dig these character designs, they totally give me vibes of Squidbillies mixed in with 12 Oz Mouse.
Please, if you're reading this comment, greenlight this show for a season or two.
We definitely need something new to go along with Royal Crackers and Smiling Friends.
shut up
People are gonna hear 12 Oz Mouse and have very different reactions, I for one see this as being that but with a more wide appealing art style, it may do very well.
@@AlexDown1 honestly i don't understand the dislike toward 12 oz mouse just because of the artstyle - i feel it's part of what makes the show so great. you don't need super detailed animation to have a very intelligent and overall great show. looking at you rick and morty
I'd agree, if this had more frames than Doom 3 running on 3dfx Voodoo.
@@409guzzler True! I'm very fond of their crudely drawn character designs!
I love the mix of "entirely relatable experiences working in retail" with surreal visuals. Excellent short! I can't wait to see these animators' future work.
Such as breaking down empty boxes and working the dolly for resupplying inventory.
The fact that the boss is literally two separate heads and one is customer service personality and the other is vexed manager personality
this is so real. i worked at a gas station for 3 or 4 years and the intro is pretty much how my first week felt. i believe the words “this cart is everything that needed to be stocked yesterday” were said to me exactly.
I always come back to this, something about it speaks to me.
Same
I swear this is an animation ripped straight from my own life, 3 years ago. So relatable I almost can't believe it.
Thank you so much! This is the reason I like making stuff.
Yeah is it too much to ask for a show that wacky but also relatable ?

The people demand this to be a series. As do I.
I keep re-watching this. There's something so entertaining about this style and character interaction, almost addictive.
It's accurate but exaggerated, the art style is expressive but simple, and it's even relatable to our customer service workers out there. Just. Make. This. A. Series. Please.
What would happen in this series? They would stock shelves again?
Nice to see Mr. Peanutbutter's daughter earning a living and not just living off her dad's success

what is this, a crossover episode?
Who's Mr. Peanutbutter?
@@crazisaturn2274 A very fun character from Bojack Horseman. *Really* good show.
@@sarahmaeschmidt was it a chiller low life?
Very cute, would love to see this as a regular 6-12 minute episode series.
Even 3 minute epi CZcams series, it's just kinda nice, it's like grunge core slice of life, it's like my eyes are drinking a cold soda on a hot summer day, I want more
"I'm just picking up my news and my brews" I'm stealing that one.
2:19 - Y'know having worked at a place for a long time and experiencing massive amounts of working off of extremely minimal amounts of sleep this is an extremely accurate depiction of a tried and true veteran alongside a fresh newbie on turnaround or super early shifts.

Been working two years at a gas station. This is incredibly accurate and I feel this animation in my soul.
We need more fun characters just existing. We don't need jokes or insane plots, stuff like this just makes me so happy.
I must have watched this 20 times in the space of two days! So glad I gave it a chance when I saw it in my recommendations. I wish to express my gratitude to Sarah for creating such a wonderful animation and hope to see more of these characters in future!

I love these types of animations in cartoons. It lets your imagination go wild and there’s no limit to your creativity whatsoever.
I go to gas stations all the time, endless opportunities for stories right there alone.
0:13 i like how the moment the girl puts the coal bag on the shelf the guy from the drawing passes from angry to default.
This needs to be a series, I'd watch so much of it.
Hate when all the good animations are always shorts, theses artists deserve entire shows, even if they did cost a fortune to produce, but they already have AS posting their stuff here.
Wholesome Surrealism is my new favorite genre
Seriously though this encapsulates the microcosm feeling of convenience stores so well! Great work!!
Wholesome surrealism sounds like something I would definitely enjoy!
You gotta make this a series. This genuinely looks cool af.
Yeah put it on a series from FOX/Hulu
I love this animation its just simply good like the slice of life and a - normal - day at work scene. nothing unexpected weird going on. I do also love the style of the animation its like imperfect drawing, just like the mutant mayhem from tnmt.
There's something special about this that I can't quite pin down! I've re-watched this at least a dozen times and I just keep coming back. I would love a full series.
Thank you so much! New episode tomorrow 🤫🌟
This is surprisingly heartwarming for Adult Swim. I hope they make more of this ❤
It screams love. I hope stuff like this and Smiling friends signal a bigger trend in adult animation. Im so sick of edgy, cynical, gross-out garbage
@@Filo127 true, its over saturated
This is so oddly relatable.
Glad the coworker and manager are actually supportive. Its so much better having a positive work environment vs a toxic one.
I just noticed the reference @1:45 is Chevelle's Wonder What's Next album, and the song is Send the Pain Below lol

Working at customer service (winery and brews store), I've discovered that I find a sort of bliss in stuff like this: when the customers are pleased to find some products they've been looking for a while, and the content of knowing you're the person who could aid find it specifically
Idk it's very mundane but one of the few things that make the job a bit worth it (that and getting paid lol)
Everybody always wants something turned into a series. Let's just appreciate the self contained short story! Not everything needs to have a cinematic universe attached to it. Great short Sarah!

just trying to live the dream
Just realized the cat guy switches heads from time to time, you can also kinda hear the voice change, with the blue one having a more high pitch voice and the red one having a deeper voice. Also they usually switch depending on the situation
The possum dude definitely reeks but seems cool to hang out with.
The expressions and perspective throughout this whole thing are fascinating, each frame is a fun little miracle.

That was sweet that she held the soda for the possum guy incase he showed up later.
I really love the animation style in this. This deserves to be a series
I liked that. Pick that up as a cartoon. Good animation, fun characters. Reasonable plot.
The plot would literally be the everyday life of working retail at a convenience store. And this seems pretty good.
That opossum is that customer that comes in every day that you love to hate, and you hate to love. This show has some real potential.
Love the animation style and absolutely LOVE Jer Hunter’s voice acting in this!!!
I love this!! The style is super charming, and everyone involved here from animators to VAs did a great job!!
Honestly between this and Smiling Friends it's nice to see an animated show be focused on a job and have the main characters actually enjoy/not mind their job.
This needs to be a show
I love this sm, Sarah and Ian & Co always TAG em and BAG em. the kitty manager having a 2nd head that's basically non-functional most of the time is my favorite bit
thank you Sonjy Ben :) that means a lot!! I love the idea of the manager that never truly sleeps
Had to watch a second time to realize that the two heads are basically day shift and night shift, one is awake while the other is asleep
Didn't realize the first time and thought it was odd with the total shift in personalities before realizing that and thought that was cool
@@bubbadoo10 yeeees thank you so much for that second watch/noticing! I feel like it is both very useful for the establishment but very draining for that poor kitty body

That was charming as hell.
I like that this isn’t vulgar at all. No swearing, no sexual innuendos or references, no violence or gore, no politics or social issues, no blasphemy, no racism, no drug use, no scatological or gross out humor, no malice, no nothing. Just some alcohol that isn’t being abused. Quite wholesome.

The concept that the (literal) seamese cat has two heads and one of em is always sleeping and they take turns in day and night shift is brilliant
