    I'm a denizen of the Mojave Desert in the south-west united States, and have found a mesh jacket (with a removable liner) to be indispensable. Year-round thirty degree daily temperature swings make it difficult to find just the right jacket for use six months out of the year in this environment. In my experience, a removable thermal liner is needed in the mornings for all but maybe four weeks in the peak of the summer season. The liner then gets rolled-up and stored in my panier for my afternoon commute home. I've been using an inexpensive Vance jacket that has served me adequately for the last year, but it's now becoming apparent where the company cut corners to meet a lower price point (zippers and snaps). While quality motorcycle apparel is expensive, I've learned that "buy once cry once" is a better option than cycling through numerous low budget options. These reviews are very much appreciated, and extremely helpful for consumers looking to get the right gear the first time (or in my case, the second or third time). Thank you for your efforts, and please keep the reviews coming!

      I'm purchasing a Knox Urbane Pro Mk2 mesh motorcycle shirt, made to be worn over a T shirt, with any added protection from wind, rain and cold added over the protective abrasion resistant mesh shirt. Rather than using a liner, I think I'll add a lightweight waterproof but vapor permeable shell in the large rear pocket that I can wear over the shirt to block the wind when it's a bit cooler, with the ability to add a pile jacket and/or my one piece rain suit over that. For motorcycle camping, the waterproof shell and pile jacket can also be worn around camp for a very flexible solution with minimal weight and volume.

    It was between the Klim and Rukka for me when deciding last year, being able to zip into my jeans with the loop through belt and the better armour included with the rukka swayed it for me. The air flow is is just next level compared to standard mesh jackets and well worth the extra cost

    I like this new trend of layering over mesh jackets. I will try it for this summer tour: 1st layer shirt, Macna or Difi 2part suit mesh with armour, Alpinestar windproof softshell , Spidi H2Out jacket with armour taken out and Dane Byge breathable waterproof laminate 2part suit in case of extreme elements.

    Out here in India mesh jackets are a necessity, last year while riding to Ladakh from South India the temperature hit +46 degrees C in North India and -10 degrees C in the Himalayas. Therefore layering is the only logical system that works here. I wore thermal inners with my mesh jacket on top which did the job perfectly

    I am in the Southwest USA (New Mexico) where it can get brutally hot. Wearing a mesh jacket is a must, as it can keep you cooler than not wearing a jacket at all. I have several jackets but just picked up the Pilot Direct Air v3 on sale for $59 USD from Lee Parks Designs. I believe this jacket retails at $180 USD or so. I am very happy with this jacket and it affords much protection with many features.

    I got myself the Belstaff Temple a couple of days ago. I agree to all points made: it's a good looking jacket, airy and light. But the price is very difficult to justify. I would not have bought the jacket if I didn't coincidentally have the correct D3O back protector. At home I realized that the armour is not D3O like in my Belstaff Crosby. At the end I took the D3O elbow and shoulder protectors from a cheap Richa jacket and put them in the Temple.

    @rayfriedman9625 Před rokem

    It's worth mentioning that as the earth plumits toward global warming/destruction, when we say "air-flow" we're not talking about COOL airflow. Where I live, we've been experiencing up to 112 and even 115 degree temps. Meaning, the air that flow through our mesh jackets (regardless of the brand) is also 112 or 115 degrees HOT (I'd argue "wind chill" factors are negligible after 100 degrees). So in reality, the temperature one feels in those conditions are the same, whether wearing a t-shirt or an expensive Mesh Jacket. Which is to say, the ONLY thing that matters from one mesh jacket to the next is PROTECTION the offer in in a fall. None of them are going to be COOLER in triple digit temperatures than the other--regardless of price. So, question is: which would you chose to spend eternity in HELL (on a moped)?

    Another very detailed but verbose video on jackets that I’m stylistically opposed to. The Belstaff jacket is overrated and terribly unappealing. Merlin make a very attractive, functional option with D30 armor at a price anyone can afford. Surprised you didn’t include this British brand in your offerings.

    It's pronounced " climb".

    • @Motolegends
      @Motolegends  Před 2 lety +1

      Not if you’re English. Can’t help it if these guys get it wrong. Think Tim, sim, dim, whim and brim. Contrast that with time, slime, dime and nine. You can’t just make up the way you want to pronounce a word. If you want “i” in a case like this to be pronounced as an open syllable then the following consonant should be followed by a vowel. Actually, ‘climb’ is an interesting case, as the b is silent and so serves as a vowel.

    • @rickgullett9624
      @rickgullett9624 Před 2 lety

      The accent makes the vowel long, therefore it is pronounced climb.

    • @Motolegends
      @Motolegends  Před 2 lety +1

      Rick Gullett Rick, it’s not an accent. It is a phonetic device; and as such not designed for altering the way words are pronounced. Phonetic devices exist to explain how words are pronounced. In English Klim should be pronounced like slim. But being Americans, these guys choose arbitrarily to pronounce the word the way they want to. But then again these guys can’t properly pronounce a word as simple as tomato, whilst aluminium confuses them totally. CP.

    @Fee.1 Před 2 lety

  • @danmcneil7181
    @danmcneil7181 Před 2 lety +1

    Klim is not an English surname . Origins in Eastern Europe and pronounced the family members want it to be. The French word " blanc" is not pronounced " blank" just because you don't like it..

    • @Motolegends
      @Motolegends  Před 2 lety +3

      Dan, you’re talking nonsense. I know the Klim boys really well. There is no Klim surname involved here. I know how they came up with the name. I know why they came up with the name. Still doesn’t mean they are pronouncing it right. In fact, they use a phonetic device over the “i”, which is their excuse for pronouncing the word differently to the way it should be. But wrong is wrong. They are going to have to live with this. As indeed are you. CP
