Cary Grant was the very essence of a movie star - a man every woman loved and every man wanted to be. His deft comic style merged easily with his strength as a romantic leading man.
Also available on Tubi TV: pixelfy.me/CaryGrantTubiTV
The actor’s suave exterior, however, concealed a complex and often sensitive individual. Cary’s painful journey from his lonely working-class beginnings to the peak of Hollywood royalty is made vivid through family photos, archival footage, clips from many of his films - including his first, following his discovery by blonde bombshell Mae West, starring role in She Done Him Wrong.
Other movies include His Girl Friday, Notorious, An Affair To Remember, To Catch A Thief, North By Northwest, Charade, and more. Among friends and colleagues interviewed on-screen are Leslie Caron, Douglas Fairbanks, Jr, Deborah Kerr, Eva Marie Saint, Ralph Bellamy, Stanley Donen, Richard Brooks and Stanley Kramer. Narrated by Richard Kiley.

My mother worked in a movie theater in LA back in the late 40's. They would have these big premiers and all the people would come out. She said the two nicest people/stars she ever met were James Stewart and Cary Grant. She said other stars would come in acting pretentious and couldn't be bothered to acknowledge the girls that brought them to their seats...but not those two. She said Doris Day was very nice as well.

The Bible references often the hope that Jesus shared with everyone that he spoke with. His, Messianic Kingdom, about to take place as stated in the Bible book of Revelation, highlights a time very soon where God will end all corruption and return the entire planet to a paradise earth. In Revelation 5: 3-5, it mentions, no more sorrow, sickness or death. The former things, that mankind has endured for thousands of years now will be done away with completely. I hope that I will be there.
Imagine meeting our favorite actors, people of history and our family tree, all the way back to the beginning. Marvelous things are ahead for men of goodwill.
We just have to get through the craziest time ever in history. Sickness, old age and suffering must end. We should all want better for each other. No hunger, no wars or poverty. ....... Get close to God while there is still time!

Loved this video, have always loved Cary Grant! My favorite actor of all time for his comedy and his dramatic performances. He was handsome and charming and his movies make me laugh and a few make me cry (Penny Serenade with the wonderful Irene Dunne. Such a 'tear-jerker'.) I continue to laugh out loud when watching "My Favorite Wife" or "The Bachelor and the Bobbysoxer" ! Fabulous talented leading man who starred with so many fabulous talented leading ladies! Cary Grant, by far, my favorite screen actor of all time ❤️💗💜💞🌹.

This is a great bio .. I saw Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn in the movie "Charades". The movie kept me guessing to the very end. That was a good action leading role for a man around 60. My favorite movie star of all time is Gregory Peck. Not far behind is Cary Grant. Two legends from both sides of the Atlantic that made decency and class cool and acceptable. Neither took himself too seriously. As a pleasant consequence everyone took them very seriously. What a far cry they were from the Brad Pitts and Tom Cruises of today's cinema. Reeking of ego and self love. Cary Grant was critical of anything that would offend an audience. Unlike "Tabloid Tom" and "Brad the Cad," to name just a few. Stars like Peck and Grant embodied everything a film star should represent. Today's narcissists should take a page from their play book.

They really glossed over it in this biography, but the story with his mom is so sad! She had such intense PTSD over having an accidental hand in her baby son's death, that her husband (who was rarely home) had her institutionalized. Archie came home one day and his father told him that his mother ran off and left the family. Archie was devastated, and had real abandonment issues his whole life. It wasn't until his father died that he was informed he was the next-of-kin to his mother who was still in the institution. They talked about how happy he was to find her, which is true.... but she had endured 23 years of "treatments" at this institution, and was never really coherent the remainder of her life. It's such a tragedy that those kinds of unspeakable things happened- and this wasn't that long ago! I think her life was crazy depressing.

No man was ever more gorgeous than Cary Grant in the final scene of An Affair To Remember...when he walks into Deborah Kerr's bedroom, leans back against the door, and in the mirror we see the painting he's made of her in his Grandmother's shawl, and realizes that she's a cripple and has stayed away from him because of it. After seeing that film over 20 times, that scene and the look on his face when he realizes she's crippled, just breaks me to tears. Fabulous Actor, Beautiful Man!

My mother loved "An Affair to Remember." Out of curiosity I once watched it with her when it was on AMC or TCM, and I fell in love with it too. Cary Grant was one of the greatest shining stars in the Hollywood firmament.

I too always loved Cary Grant. One of my fav movies he did was "Father Goose" He was hilarious in it. And I agree Boy did he age well-Ohhhh! so handsome. The last thing I saw him in was the 1970 Elvis vegas concert. The camera showed him in the audience as well as backstage. I was sad when just 2 yrs later he died from a brain anurism while staying at the hotel.
He will be remembered as a great comedian and actor. I always loved not only his great looks but his distinct voice.

Cary Grant was undoubtedly one of the best talented movie stars of the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s. He had perfect timing in his delivery and one of the most handsome men walking the earth. The cruelty was rife in families in the Edwardian period. My father who was born 1909 and had a spaniel dog called Billy. My father came home from school and the dog was gone. He later found out that his father had the dog put down as a punishment for something my father had done. Cruel generation.

Well not the entire generation. MY EX'S DAD WAS BORN IN '38, THE ONLY TIME HE grabbed his shot gun and took his son hunting with the family dog to another state, in a forest. He later said ''well the dog ran off but sorry we got to leave now,. '' It was sad to hear my husband, an ex marine ask me ''what did I think about his dog running off and leaving his dog behind''? He still doesn't realize his father shot the dog.

Very nice run thru of his life. Of course they didn't mention what I have always heard and read, that his film "That Touch Of Mink" was his highest grossing film ever. Doris Day was his insisted upon co-star. It was huge!
Also they skipped over his 8 year involvement with Randolph Scott. That was a tough time for both of them when their respective studio's said it's either over or your careers are over. They were highly liked and loved in that business and that they were together. Cary died in Davenport IA. I happened to be there when I heard the news attending a poultry show. I thought what the hell was he doing there?! He was doing his Conversation With Cary show it turned out and he had a heart attack. What a stunningly handsome and unique person he was and is. Doris Day spoke very highly of him as well and that in itself is something.

Father Goose and Operation Petticoat are 2 of my favorites. As well as That Touch of Mink with Doris Day and The Bishops Wife.. All of which I now have on blu-ray. He was a spectacular actor.
