Hey guys, today we are going to look at a marvelous place in Sri Lanka, this place is known as Sigiriya. There is nothing like this anywhere in the world, which is why it is known as the 8th wonder of the world. This is actually a giant monolithic rock, about 660 feet tall, and you can see that it has a flat top, like somebody cut it with a giant knife. There are incredible ruins at the top which are extremely mysterious, so let us go straight to the top and see what's up there.
As you can see there are a lot of strange brick structures here and there and it is not only confusing for visitors, but even archeologists are not able to make complete sense of what these structures were used for. They confirm that everything you see is at least 1500 years old. But the mystery is not what these structures are, it is how these structures were built. How did ancient builders manage to move all these bricks to the top of the rock? It is reported that at least 3 million bricks are found here, but it would be impossible to make these bricks on top of the rock, there is not enough clay available here. They would have to have transported these bricks from the ground.
Now, the really bizarre part is that there are no ancient stairs from the ground level which go to the top of the rock. Look, all these metal steps were built in the last century. Without these new stairs, it will be very hard to climb this rock. This whole rock is now set up with different types of stairs, this is the spiral stairs at a different level. The ancient builders built very limited stairs, but these stairs definitely did not reach the top. This is exactly why no one, not even the locals knew about Sigiriya until 200 years ago, because there were no stairs to the top. And this is why an Englishman by the name of Jonathan Forbes "Discovered" the ruins of Sigiriya in 1831.
So how did early human beings get to the top of Sigiriya? Let us assume that it is possible to hike up hill through these very steep, wooded areas. But to bring 3 million bricks from the ground level, you will definitely need proper stairs. Without this, it would be impossible to transport them to the top.
Even if we claim that the bricks were made on top of the rock itself by some miraculous means, The construction work here would have needed hundreds of workers. How did they get their food? Look around, there are no fruit bearing trees or crops growing here, to feed anyone. And what about tools? How did they carry their massive primitive tools? Where did they rest and sleep? But it gets more baffling. Look carefully, there are not only bricks here, but look at these blocks. This is marble.
The milky white marble stones are not native to this area at all. These blocks are actually very heavy, every stone which makes up a step weighs about 50 pounds. And we can find thousands of these marble blocks here. Experts agree that Marble is not naturally found anywhere nearby, so how were they transported up to a height of 660 feet, especially without stairs to climb ?
But it is not the bricks or the marble that really baffles me. It is the granite. Look at this large water tank. If you ignore the bricks and marble blocks around it, you understand that this is the largest monolithic tank in the world. It has not been built by adding stone blocks, it has been created by removing granite, by scooping out tons and tons of granite from Solid Rock. And exactly how many tons of rocks have been removed? This entire tank is 90 feet long and 68 feet wide and is about 7 feet deep. This means that at least 3,500 tons of granite have been removed. So you can take a minute to really sit back and think if mainstream archeologists are right. If human beings were using primitive tools like chisels, hammers and pick axes on granite, which is one of the hardest rocks in the world, removing 3,500 tons would have taken years.

It is at least known that Buddhism spread to Sri Lanka through Mahinda (son of Ashoka), which probably happened in the 3rd BCE, and there were probably a mass migration from Northern India at that time. I agree that human devolved. Even in the bible the people started having different languages after the tower of babel. The atlantis was so high tech and their greed caused them to sink. God puts limits just like when people in babylon built a stair to reach heaven. He puts limits. Based in these two biblical stories, you can clearly see how high tech humans were in ancient time. Even our tallest building in the world can't compare to the height of the tower of babel. We are too low tech compared to them.

One of the most amazing places in the world that I have had the pleasure of visiting. I've been all around the site, the fountains at ground level still work when it rains. I've claimed to the top and walked down the steps to the pool and placed my hand in the water. A true wonder of the world. The top was a winter palace, and the ground floor a summer Palace, they have found gold jewellery which belonged to one of the five hundred women who cared for the king /ruler during those ancient times.
Shi Lanka truly is a very wonderful, welcoming island, and I'm glad I had the opportunity to tour around it, and see many wonderous things..
The elephant orphanage, the tea plantations, the rubber tree tapping, plantation and the glorious weather and beaches. The budda temples.
On a sad note I visited just after the tsunami which caused such death and destruction, and I saw the destruction and touched the battered train in a railway siding near a station, truly shocking and heartbreaking.

According to the ancient Sri Lankan chronicle the Cūḷavaṃsa, this area was a large forest, then after storms and landslides it became a hill and was selected by King Kashyapa (AD 477-495) for his new capital. He built his palace on top of this rock and decorated its sides with colourful frescoes. On a small plateau about halfway up the side of this rock he built a gateway in the form of an enormous lion. The name of this place is derived from this structure; Sīnhāgiri, the Lion Rock (an etymology similar to Sinhapura, the Sanskrit name of Singapore, the Lion City).
The capital and the royal palace were abandoned after the king's death. It was used as a Buddhist monastery until the 14th century. Sigiriya today is a UNESCO listed World Heritage Site. It is one of the best preserved examples of ancient urban planning.

Locals from there told me a story in which they claimed that they were huge giants. I didn't believe at first but I decided to roam around and found a silout ( a flat rock used by Indian women to grind coriander leaves) much larger to be used by normal human beings. Saw a lav kush jhoola which I was not even able to move an inch. Some more evidences were noticed by me to claim at that time but today I can only remember these two. Please make a visit there. On a sidenote and food for thought for anyone interested, Ravana was supposedly 2-8 million years old (Tretha Yuga) when Rama (who was 38-42 years during their encounter) killed him in the epic war. In that Yuga, beings were almost 20-30 feet in height and had an average lifespan of 100k years or more (the Yuga's lifespan was millions of years).
We are in the Kali Yuga - which is the last Yuga in the cycle. Our average lifespan is 100 years and average height is 5-6 feet. We are the devolved species with lesser physical capabilities compared to our ancient ancestors who possessed extraordinary skills and knowledge which are long forgotten (via deceit or through lack of documentation),

The end of Treta yug was marked by his passing or the end of his Avatar. It happened definitely before 850k years ago, if you wanna use that scale.

Thank you for this explanation. Ramayana happened in the Tretayuga. During this yuga, the average height of people was 21 feet and their life span could last 10000 years. The width and breadth of these people was proportional to the height. Obviously the tools used by such huge people were also very huge. Some scientists have found tools which appear to have been used by large people in various parts of the earth. I would like to prove my point by taking you to Golconda, Hyderabad, where I have seen swords measuring 6 to 10 feet in length and weighing anywhere between 20 to 50 kgs used by our Indian rulers and the Mughals. I have seen shields whose diameter was 3 to 5 feet and they too weighed about the same. I am lucky to have been able to touch some of these and even tried to pick them up, but couldn't. During those days people got up at 4:00 AM at the brahma muhurta and slept by 6:00 PM. They were peace loving people and didnt hurt each other unlike in todays world. They worked hard in the fields using manual tools like bullock and horse carts and manual ploughs. They also practiced yoga, meditation, homa, havan and prayed with utmost sincerity to god, which gave them immense powers, including supernatural and telepathic powers. Do you know that humans today don't use their minds fully at all. In those days people had less needs and wants, they kept their minds clean which can also be attributed as to why they had these super powers. My friend, if I ask you to stretch your hand toward the moon and stars and ask you to catch them, will you be able to catch them? Obviously, No. Now try with your mind. Imagine that you are on the moon and the stars and are amazed at their vastness and beauty. Hey, did you reach the moon and stars? Obviously, Yes. Our minds are our greatest asset. So you see my friend, for the people of the Tretayuga it wasn't so difficult to cut and carve huge mountains or rocks and create ancient engineering marvels. Our veda's or sacred texts refer to the Satyuga 17,28,000 years, Tretayuga 12,96,000 years, Dwaparyuga 8,64,000 years and now we are in Kaliyuga.4,32,000 years. So you are referring to the time of Ramayana which is approximately 12,00,000 years old. After each yuga there have been natural calamities like huge floods called 'Pralay'. Also observe how the number of years has come down over these yugas and also the strength and physique. This is because human beings have become corrupt, greedy and hungry for power and money. Our minds are not as clean as our previous counterparts. Our moral values have declined severely during these past yugas. I salute our ancestors who worked so hard even in the absence of modern machines and gave us a strong foundation to develop and keep passing the baton to our younger generations.

As per Shankaracharya of puri, those who are spiritually awakened can still see that the Lanka made of gold is still there. It can only be seen by highly spiritual people, similarly it's inhabitants are mighty strong and tall and have several kinds of esoteric powers, there are various kinds of humanoid breeds of strength , intelligence and power beyond our comprehension. Similarly, several such invisible places exist across India and the world. Similarly many beings have power remain unseen by human eyes

It was made (designed) by Ravana's father -in law Mayadana (Maya) for Kuwera (king ravana's brother) first. Then the great king Rawana used it as his main palace. As I heard recently siwagira (sigiriya) is a hollow inside and most of the levels of the palace are made inside. You can see only top level floors outside on the sigiriya. So they have transported the materials used for constructions through inside system of the siwagira (' here, siwa' means sun , 'gira ' means hollow rock. place to worship sun). This is recent explanation I heard.

Like the megalithic sites around the world that defy explanation, this site is absolutely unexplainable by mainstream view.
How do archaeologists say that they know the age of this site? This site is one of the most amazingly complex engineering feats in the world, rivaling the Great Pyramid of Giza.
If you stand back,. you can see the symmetry of the monolith itself. It slopes outward, rises vertically, slopes back at an angle and levels off. On both sides, exactly symmetrically.
There are legends about a technique involving sound frequencies, which are used to make even the hardest rock soft and workable.
As to how they lifted multiton rocks into high places, that is left for us to find out, since-- like the megalithic sites-- there is no true historical record of how and why this place was constructed.
Well, I certainly have enjoyed watching and look forward to many more of your videos!

They decided on the age by the ancient written records and what was found from excavations in that site. There's a museum here filled with artifacts, including Roman coins. It's age is only decided by what was found, and shouldn't be accepted as hard evidence. They only scratched the surface with excavation, and maybe more will be revealed if quality work is done.

One outrageous possibility is that the entire region adjacent to this gargantuan sized granite site was leveled to their present state after the builders completed the terraced landscapes and pools. They had the technology to “scoop” out the granite to construct the massive pool-3500 hundred tons of it. Over time they could have done so to the surrounding areas to create what ancient alien conspiracy theorists’ would call a UFO landing port and staging area inaccessible to prying human eyes.

When i see the terraces and stairs of this wonderful place i can only think of one thing: The Hanging Gardens of Semiramis - one of the 7 wonders of the world. This too was an artificial garden built atop this massive rock by at least 2 different advanced civilizations. I believe the granite structure was carved long ago by another civ and the red brickwork was made much later by another civ. How they got to the top is not a mystery, they use some old elevator that started somewhere at the FEET i believe. There are a lot of grooves and holes indicative that some wooden of metal structure was once anchored to the side of the garden. My guess is that it was a large platform elevator.
I will now let my imagination wonder about how the king's gardens would have looked like and how it would feel to take a dip in that pool with palm trees shading me.
    TY for this :)

when I was at sigiriya, i looked for a simpler answer. I looked over the topography, and also looked at the land when I was at the top of Sigiriya. I think Pidurangala rock and sigiriya were connected and the land in between eroded away or washed away. seems like Pidurangala tapers upward towards the direction of Sigiriya. If there was a land connecting the two, then the mystery of how they got materials up there is solved. I can see a long "ramp" where at the top was the king, or something similar. As for the grooves, I know some rock climbers that might take exception to those grooves being impossible to climb. :P

Possible but then new structures still remind about mystery. And so earth around it would be simple remove, but where is all that waste material what archeologist normally use in "how it was made" analysis. Granite would be easy trace. Earth around it has to be taken away long long time ago. Story is really old. Ramayana tells about mountain fortress, castle where Ravana lives keeps Sita as prisoner (who cant escape) and mountain is here, same please what is impossible invade in war. If it would not be like this, unreachable, would that story even exist? Without this site, story about flying Hanuman is would be farfetched but site takes it back to reality, real life thing. Hanuman existed. Touchable thing. Example.

Yeah, it took alot of work.
There are lots of ways to accomplish that too.
My first instinct would be to build temporary ( for years temporary) stairs and scaffolding against the sides of the rock.
You could use scaffolds like high rise window washers, or just ropes and pulleys.
Dirt could be hauled up and bricks cast on top or bricks could be hauled up already made.
      The point is..
The real mystery to most people is what hard work and fortitude actually are in practice.

Agreed. I already pictured in my head pulling the bricks up with ropes before he started asking the question. Also, look at that stairway at the bottom with the giant reptile feet either side... there was a way up at some time, probably tunnelled inside the rock and now covered and hidden.

    • @Godfather061
      @Godfather061 Před 5 lety +3

I suspect that it took the workman a long time to create the 90’ x 70 some feet by 7 feet deep pool. I also suspect that if they had some way to get the bricks up to the top they could have also taken up would to heat the granite and then thrown water on it which would crack it once you get the first hole dug or chipped out or however it becomes easier for the next portion if you have steel chisels you simply mark out a spot and chisel in a small hole in your find another spot a foot or so away and do the same thing with another just and so forth until you have enough chisels that will slowly be pounded into the granite which after a relatively short period of time create a crack that will separate from the rest and just keep repeating that process until you have chiseled out a hole the size you want. It takes work and takes time and can be done assuming you have iron available. And you certainly can build an elevator or a pulley system without steel or iron or any other metal. I did notice some holes in the side of the rock that might’ve been possible to put in timbers to create a resting spot every so far humans are inventive problem-solving species and I assume that those archaeologists who looked the site over were not specialists in construction whether modern or antique.

    • @dekutree64
      @dekutree64 Před 5 lety +6

My thought as well. All you need is a simple rope and pulley elevator, and all those tons of granite removed from the top can be used as counterweight to lift bricks up from ground level with minimal human effort.
