- Here is a quick overview of a new to us bike, the Surly Pugsley Ops (2014). This is Paige’s first fatbike. She has ridden all of my bikes, but we found this one locally and she had to have it. This is a quick overview on what makes this bike special.

It looks so good! Excited!!
The Pugs Ops were sick! Great find!
Yeah I agree, super fun older bike and well spec’d too!
Yep I bought a used one with all the upgrades done by the previous owner that worked at the bike shop I love it great handling on a single track nice color by the way
Yep love the color and the Pugs really is a great all round fat bike!
Отличный экспедиционный фэтбайк! И цвет очень гармоничный!
Congrats Paige on the second coolest Surly fat bike ever made😜 love it! It’s on my watch list always.
😂😂 Thanks for watching!
Congratulations Paige thats a nice bike and you look great riding it . Looks like you both are ready for some good biking adventures. Enoy !!!
Thanks for checking it out!
Thanks for the video. You will enjoy the extra float from the wider rims on the Ops!
Yeah looking forward to getting a slightly bigger tire like the 4.3” Edna on it!
Nice looking bike ! Congrats on the new ride !
Thank you! Thanks for watching!
Congrats on the Pugsley ops! Pretty similar to my Moonlander, which I still love. Happy riding!
Thanks! I would love to track down a Moonlander some day, especially that “John Deer” color combo! Thanks for watching!
Really enjoy the channel !
Great color, leather Brooks would look outstanding !
Thanks for watching! Yeah I have been wanting a Brooks saddle for awhile so this might be a good bike to do one on.
Yaaay! Nice bike! Congrats 🎊
Thanks man much appreciated!
Good video nicebike like the color tell Paige I said congratulations on her new ride
Thanks for watching!!
I love that color!
Thanks, big fan here too! Thanks for stopping by!
nice, I have a 2014 Pugsley as well not the ops but I love it. I went with an ergon SMC saddle on mine
Thanks for the saddle tip! Yeah the Pugs is a great bike, still ride mine all the time! Thanks for watching!
Good for you guys! I want to get my wife into fat biking one day as well. Great way to ride at a chill pace and go anywhere.
Yep for sure! Excited to get out there on them! Thanks for watching and hope you can get some couples adventures in too!
@@ElevationEveryWeekend I'm really interested in your take on steel vs carbon frames on fat bikes. Would be a good video idea.
@@cuttingedgevintage Funny you mention it, it is definitely coming! Starting researching it recently for informational purposes, but my short take is both have their place based on a number of variables, and that’s why I enjoy and own both.
It’s a really nice machine with the purple and green. A selle anatomica leather saddle would be the cherry on top. They are much like the brooks saddle but made in the USA.
Thanks for the input, I actually have a Selle on my road/cross bike and it’s a good saddle indeed! Thanks for watching!
Great find! WTB has a "speed she" female specific saddle might be a good match for her
Thanks, yeah we were thrilled to have this bike drop in our lap basically. Thanks for the recommendation on the saddle! Thanks for watching!
Just bought my fiancé a Surly Pugsley for her birthday. I snagged the purple single speed version for $600 and threw on a SRAM x9
Awesome congrats! The Pugs is still a great fat bike, I ride mine all the time still! Thanks for watching!
😊
That's a great buy right there! Congrats and enjoy it. Is her seat height comfortable and correct? It looked almost an inch too high.
Thanks, it’s a great bike! RE: seat height, good catch. I think we still had it set for me and she is a couple inches shorter, so it could be off a bit indeed. Thanks for watching!!
👍
Thanks for checking it out!!
I just test road this exact bike at a local bike shop, $995 used. Think that's priced appropriately based on your experience? Thanks! Great video
IMO that is a fair, if not a really good deal, especially if it’s in good shape. The bike supply side is so tight right now that it’s hard to pass up almost anything decent if you need a bike! Good luck and thanks for watching!!
@@ElevationEveryWeekend thanks!
Beautiful fat bike. Just trying to get one. I want steel frame for my bikes. I checked Surly eeb page and it says “RIP, and thst they have stopped making frames and components?.
Thank you! Yes, Surly has stopped making the Pugsley. They currently offer the Ice Cream Truck and the Wednesday. For a Pugsley you would need to scan the used market, which is how we found this one.
Similar to the instagator.... frame's look the same....
It definitely shares a lot of the same visual styling aspects that a lot of their bikes did at that time, but the actual geometry and rear end design is very different between those two bikes. Thanks for watching!!
Anyone who knows.... I have 26+ Tyres 3 inches wide..how wide can I go ?... anyone know? On my Instagramer ....or insteadagator ...or instagator
@@kevinrice4909 I’ll bet you’re about at the limit based on what Surly spec’d the bike for. I guess looking at the clearance you actually have on the chain stays and the chain line would be safest bet whether you have room for more!
