The sound is Martin no one has been able to match ,I bought a D-28 in 1967 w/ grain on the top 1/4 inches wide , fastest growth rings found , I got one out of that batch , best tone ever produced
i really like these smaler bodys as 00, 000, OM because i love these warm midtones and wow this Martin just looks und sounds so great! Jon, my friend, you know i like these well made videos of yours and i always watch with a guitar in my hands and love to play along to your playing ✌
Great sounding guitar, and is typical of that rich full body sound that martin are reknown for. I have a Tanglewood TW4 superfolk in Whisky Barrel , and it does all i need from an acoustic. If i ever win the lottery i will buy a Martin and a few others! Thanks for another treat of your "Magic Fingers Jon.🙂👍
That guitar sounds amazing! When you play you make them all sound good but this stands out from the others. The clarity was amazing. Great sound! I don’t care for the looks but would buy it for the sound.
Give it a few years to age, it will get much better. My Aunt had a Martin made in 50's, she was in a country western band along the coast of Oregon. That guitar just sounded better every year.
It looks great. I think it sounds amazing in the intro, that old school western vibe. It does great with finger picking too. But just straight strumming, it seemed a little to mid forward and not scooped enough to allow the vocals to poke through if you're a singer songwriter. Not sure it matches well with a vocalist as much as it wants to be the star. Strumming seems like the weakness of this guitar. But nice overall.
Great guitar, horrible tuners. I owned this same model Martin. Great sound, fabulous vintage finish. Bad tuners. Unfortunately would not stay in tune with the faux vintage tuners. Called Martin, to discuss, even volunteered to drive instrument to the factory. They couldn’t have shown more indifference. I also own the 00015M, with real Grover Tuners. Those tuners do not disappoint. Why they would put such poor tuners on an amazing guitar us beyond me.
My friend, I too thought a Martin unobtainable. I paid off my2018 HD28 in three years @ $70 bucks a month with sweetwater and synchrony bank. I never missed it or the five hundred I put down. I am going for a 000 28 now. I consider it an investment and worth it. Do it! You will never regret.

They are Martin Retro acoustic strings. They are great strings. Basically thick electric strings. They make the guitar sound ol$

I owned the Martin Black Smoke dreadnought and I hated the tuners on that too. I hated their gig bag too.
