This type of Rabaul music is NOT Tolai Rock .Tolai Rock ,as we all know,is rock "Guitar" music mixed with Tolai songs,but "Avotong" is different.This unique Tolai music gets its beat,tempo and rhythm mainly from the traditional Dukduk-Tumbuan dance .This traditional song, "A Votong",is as old as the culture of East New Britain,which has been passed down through the generations.Other traditional ABOT ,WARBAT songs are often played in this style.."AVotong,sung by KANAI PINERI, is taken from SHUTDOWN Band's 1992 album recorded at the original Pacific Gold Studios in Rabaul.

Yes, PGS was actually ahead of Chm before the volcanic eruptions in Rabaul which destroyed PGS. Many Rabaul PGS musicians had to quit music to be with their families and rebuild their lives.
