Thank God you didn't leave the band right after TDSOTM. So many great things you did after that...
Too right. I cannot imagine the world without Animals. My personal favourite.
God hates Roger Waters. Leave God out of this.
But you are mistaken both. Wish, Animals, Wall would happen anyway, just without Pink Floyd. Capito?@@monty2005
@@janpierzchala2004 maybe, but nowhere near as good. By the way; good grammar is a good start for a reply. As it stands, your reply looks confrontational.
In any case, the great thought in Roger reply above is that he might have left Pink Floyd without giving that "marriage" concept albums of Wish, Animals, Wall @@monty2005
I love the album Animals. Thank you so much for it, Roger!
My favourite pink floyd album
Animals cover is my hometown so it means alot more to me
@@Prettypaigexxx same. I see the 4 chimneys from my flat
@@PrettypaigexxxI seriously consider that a claim to fame!
If you would have left The Floyd after Dark Side, then we would never have gotten what I consider one of the greatest albums of all time: Wish You Were Here, which has meant so much to me throughout my life. I consider it one of the few perfect albums, because it evokes all of my emotions. So thank you so very much for that.
i think roger said he still would have made those albums but they would have been different. better??? worse?
@@pinkrudy worse. In my humble opinion. Waters heard those four iconic notes from Gilmour that they based Shine On You Crazy Diamond on. Also, we would have missed out on Wright's haunting keyboards.
Bottom line, without all four's contributions all Pink Floyd albums would have been worse.
@@cdolan13 i agree
and SYD too. He was a main inspiration behind all of those years@@cdolan13
@@truthteller3024 Yes, Syd was the inspiration for all that came after he left (was kicked out of) The Floyd. That being said, if Syd stays in the band we a) never get any album from Saucerful of Secrets all the way to The Endless River, as all albums (especially Wish You Were Here) were based on the fact he was no longer the front man, and b) Gilmour never would have joined the Floyd. So, Syd had to be gone in order for the sound - and content - to change.
I only wish The Final Cut had been toured. I love that album.
Definitely underrated........
My favorite PF album
Mine too. @@justinshallard893
I just wish he played the title track live once, such a beautiful song
Why should you have any regrets? You did and are still doing so much good with your music. I know I'm not the only person who sees your music as a lifeline.
I see his music as pretentious rubbish.
He took a massive shit on his own legacy, and he's a nutbar. No regrets? He probably should regret his history of antisemitism. Being the biggest neo-nazi tankie on the planet hasn't exactly been a good career move.
In This Thread: Person claims notorious antisemite Roger Waters should have no regrets.
I can't imagine you see any of his solo work as a lifeline. That would be a first.
I’m glad Rodger dint leave after DSoM. The Final Cut is one of my favorite albums. So underrated.
“I wouldn’t take any of those records back.”
You certainly wouldn’t get any of them back from me dear boy..
Long may you run Mr. Waters.
What is known is that Waters would take back Atom Heart Mother and Radio K.A.O.S. As a fan, I love both though
@@Redguard677 Again, he’s not getting my copy of KAOS, though I may lend him AHM!
“Sometimes you stay in a marriage/band longer than you should have, but maybe you get something out of those extra years.” Wow…thanks for that bit of insight, Roger. That’s something I needed to hear right now, and it’s an amazingly positive way to look at it! 😌❤️
He's completely delusional. By all accounts, he was always a big psycho. That's why all his bandmates hate him.
One difference: When you stay in a marriage too long, it generally doesn't make you jncredably wealthy as a result. Usually, quite the opposite, in fact.
Just get that divorce now, pal.
Love that answer. Besides, we wouldn't have radio KAOS if it weren't for him leaving the band. One of the best albums of the last 50 years in my opinion. Peace!
I was listening to that yesterday
@@stevolution666 me too! I'll listen to it about once a month usually.
And lets not forget "The pros and cons of hitch hiking !!!!
@@apostlewoody I got to have my headphones for that one!
Both albums are superb. Top of the mark for me anyway. Probably tied with The Final Cut.
Roger, I'm so grateful for you staying longer than you should have, especially for The Wall, The Wish You Were Here and The Final Cut. I cannot honestly comprehend how those masterpieces are "longer than you should have", and I'm selfishly thankful for that you'd had.
Love Roger ❤
Hate neo-nazis like Rog😢
Roger, please, please, please release a vinyl remastered version of Pompeii,
It's your strongest work, your bass playing was vicious, come on Rodge, it's about time.
Mr Waters’ comment on marriages is spot on. Most great bands with more than one dominant personality have a common story - they begin great, they do great work, and then they disband and it’s usually quite ugly. The lesson for me is that we’re wrong in seeking or expecting permanence in any relationship.
Also - for me, the end of Wish You Were Here marks the end of this phase of the Floyd. WYWH is the band’s response to DSOTM, like the last sigh.
that's why after that Pink wasn't well and he stayed back in the hotel
The Final Cut is much underrated. There are some wonderful songs on that album.
it is rated lower than other albums, properly so
@@janpierzchala2004 oh give it another spin. Go on.
My only question is why are you so freaking wonderful lol
Final Cut is so underrated.
when animals came out i was a casual fan, just stuff i'd heard on the radio. then one saturday a friend said, "pink floyd are playing at anaheim stadium tonight. we should go!" we sat in the outfield, and i was mesmerized the whole night. i walked out of the stadium a changed person. the next day i went out and bought animals and throughout the summer bought every record in the back catalog, immersing myself in their music. the concert was just a few days before my 16th birthday, what a gift! had pink floyd broken up after the dark side of the moon who knows how i would have turned out. i shudder to think about it.
Thanks for Your answer - Now, you gave me a new aspect, a different view about staying in a situation longer than it should, and don't regret it. You are a great philosopher too 👍👍👍
Such a silly question but, he answered it well. If one carries regrets with themselves through life, at the end, wouldn't one essentially regret life itself - kinda sad I think. Sure, we all make mistakes, people disappoint us etc. but, without all those life events, where are we... fundamentally not-the-wiser, which is kinda pathetic at the end of the day. Life is meant to be lived for through that all, we learn.
I just want to take this moment to say that ur soul is felt from a distance
We need more men like u
Not because of ur fame or artistic talents nor ur wealth
It’s ur soul
Ur beliefs
Ur actions
Ur integrity
Ur honesty
U know the things we should actually admire about otehrs or judge others for especially when their actions or morals are not for the common good of humanity!!
It probably doesn’t mean anything from a faceless person without a name

But my respect for u is plentiful

Sounds like our mothers could have been great friends too if they had ever met earth side!
I’m sure their friends now tho!!
While they guide us through life!

Animals is the one album that truly shows what Pink Floyd could pull off that no other band could. I consider it an exquisite example of what a 70’s rock standard album could achieve in the studio and it immediately puts you in a 70’s Pink Floyd world.
You used your common sense. It was good while it lasted and you made a lot of good stuff together!
❤
Is Roger seriously surrounded by people who let him think that he "made" Wish You Were Here, Animals, and The Wall? Well, for anyone else who thinks that, we have as documentation Roger's SOLO RECORDS.
Totally agree. It is so effing weird to hear him boast about wanting to leave after Dark Side, when you KNOW that he has been the one trying to get the band together again for the last 20 years. And that he is bitter about it not happening as well. He might think that him "leading" the band is what has led to the succes of those records. Anybody with ears will tell you otherwise: none of that would have happened without Gilmour, Wright and Mason. In that order. The bloated conceptualism and sentimentality The Wall, The final cut and all of his solo work is enough to convince anybody of where the musicla genius of Pink Floyd was coming from. Not Roger.
Gilmore's solo albums and Pink Floyd's after the departure of Waters show that without him they made elevator music at best and at worst something incoherent. Also, Waters got the idea for the Wall during the Animals tour, so yes without him The Wall would've never existed
Fã sempre show. José. S C Joinville. Parabéns felicidades sempre.
Obrigado
This is a good point but the 'regret' I think is that the band didn't stay together since imo Water's solo disks-in fact everyone's-would have benefited greatly from being done with the rest of the band.
I’m counting down the days till October 6 (9) for the full release TDSOTM Redux
and lucky for us all Roger, many thanks.
One regret he should have is trashing Atom Heart Mother. Atom Heart Mother is awesome
Yeah it is. Except for the last track maybe.
I like Alan’s psychedelic breakfast, but it’s not for everyone
@@mrlazywolf I don’t hate it or anything it’s just really the one track on the album which I could understand that could be criticized.

Damned "interferences". For most of my life I have been unable to understand English lyrics, like most of the world I speak another language. However, that didn't stop me from enjoying Pink Floyd's music -"interferences"- immensely, as most PF fans do. Now that I am able to enjoy the lyrics as well, I have not noticed an appreciable increase in the pleasure of listening to PF's music. Those lyrics that Roger is so proud of to the point of claiming all the credit and authorship are not really that important to many fans who haven't even been able to translate them for decades without it getting in the way of enjoying the musical part. The "interferences", David's melodious guitar and vocals, Richard's atmospheric keyboards, Roger's powerful bass or Nick's drums on some pieces like One of These Days and, above all, the magic with which they managed to combine to produce unique compositions that will never be forgotten and that we will always be able to enjoy, even despite the lyrics revolving repetitively around Roger's obsessions. Sorry, I have my own obsessions and don't need to share anyone else's over and over again. Thank goodness for the "interferences".

True that when getting the 1st number one Album like DSOTM it's hard to come down but for Roger & Floyd to make those follow up albums WYWH Animals wich is a fantastic Album & be able to debate that Animals or the Wall is better than DSOTM it just shows Floyd but Particularly Roger with the drive writing etc but thank you for consistenly touring & bringing this to us the fans! Most of all as a human being! Thank you 🇵🇸✊🇮🇪
We love you Roger!!!!

What would a Roger Waters cover of a Grateful Dead song sound like?
I think the question was really about his relationship (or lack thereof) with David today, but asked in a neutral sort of way. But then, I believe we already know what that answer might sound like from both of these gents.
You guys were really one of the best
I listened to The Final Cut for years, not being able to put my finger on what was so different about it, and then one day, while watching a documentary, it was said that Richard Wright was not on it. That was it, that was the difference I had always heard.
I was rather setback to find out that David did not like The Final Cut. I've always wondered exactly what about it he didn't like. I still absolutely love it and cherish it as an amendment to The Wall.
It's not just hyperbole, Pink Floyd is its own genre. Each of its creations, from Sid to David to being without Waters, all of it is so unique among the bands from the UK.
❤
I was listening to wish you were here and I got to experience meditation and enlightenment. 🙏🏼
I love and respect your work and passion for bringing light to the darkness of wars caused by egomaniacal fat cats. Also, that art can be used for a great awakening of collective Consciousness.
You are great as musician, but first as an honest person.
Roger we are also unbeleavble Lucky with you - thank you for your incredible work all the time
god bless you

Those albums might have ended up being "different" the way "The Pros and cons of Hitchhiking" was without the other band members "interference." In other words, they might have been so "different" that they might have been ignored almost completely!
I'm surprised he didn't mention that he regretted bringing the lawsuit against his bandmates.
But all props go to Roger for having those concepts and ideas after the band was a smash hit.
Exactly. For most of my life I have been unable to understand English lyrics, like most of the world I speak another language. Eency weency small favor🤏: Tour (1st half) Is This The Life... (2nd half) Amused to Death ( which ranks alongside the best of your work within Floyd imo)!
In any case thank you for everything you've created and also for your recent This Is Not A Drill tour. Saw 4 shows and loved every minute of each one❤. Peace Roger!
Amused ist ein Soloalbum 😮
@michaell6882 Yes. It's as good as anything Floyd ever released imo.
i love this guys outlook . he is right too .
WYWH may be different because is a band album! And I think Animals too, Dogs is a co-creation between David & Roger, if this record was made only by Waters, that song didn't existed
" We were talking before about character. You were asking me about character. We were speaking of faces, but the question is much deeper than that. The question is do you have any character at all? And if you want my honest opinion, Bob, you do not, for the simple reason that you don't regret anything yet."
Genio
Gracias
That’s the best works including dark side!
honestly i think amused to death can stand up with the floyd albums like wish you were here the wall animals and dark side all was great albums and well written
That's a really good way to look at it, Roger. Wishing something was different, really is a waste of time, since the past is gone and cannot be changed. The present and possibly the future, if it comes, can always be influenced by the lessons learned from the past.
If amused to death was a floyd album it would of been on 2nd to DSOTM
United Center. 2018. !
You did say on the commentary of The Wall movie that you did regret not having more fun while on tour. You said that Led Zeppelin seemed to have a lot of fun while touring and that maybe the band should have had more than it did.
They have started to take aim now Roger. Please dont yield. Stay strong we all can see what they are doing.
There's always a few things in life that aren't so pleasant, in my case, two marriages, but, one produced something wonderful, the other nothing but misery. I learned something from both. So, no regrets, and I was also very lucky, gaining a lot of international recognition over the years. As a six year old, I did tell my parents I'd be famous one day, and hunt lion in Africa, both I did a few decades later, which got a good laugh from both back then. That did stopped all their snickering regardjng my predictions in my adult years! Like Roger, when I started predicting the future in my teens, about all the American grand feel good illusions disappearing in the future, return of the dark ages, something, of course, they and others didn't want to hear!
I fall in love with country music since I heard his songs, sorry for invading your privacy, am Kate Merez. Are you a lover of country music too?

WHY DID YA SPIT ON ME IN MONTREAL …?
He should regret not recording 99% of Floyd’s live shows. That why we have nothing but crap bootlegs of Animals and so many other tours.
you don´t do it alone, always remember that, writing some lyrics its not the entire song, all the band contribute to make a song or an album great, and the proof of that is that your solo albums never get to the levels of pink floyd as a group of creative minds
That how I run from my responsibilities.

I'm a big fan but when Roger admits that the albums would have sounded different if he'd left after DARK SIDE, that, in essence, is an admission of the importance of what the other guys put in, surely?
Not to mention the notion that Pink Floyd was a spent force without him is wholly untrue.
Why you need admission from him? Is Roger's opinion as important for you? I thought he was ten of penny worth bass player (according to Gilmour)
Animals and WYWH wouldn’t have been the same without Dave, Rick, and Nick
Oh, he has one regret: Radio KAOS.

Por essa razão você nasceu
Porque Jesus Cristo, cara
Não vai

Ele estabeleceu suas leis apropriadas
E você sabe bem que Ele fez
Apenas o que
Ele deveria ter feito
Enquanto eu estava crescendo
E meu cabelo ficava maior
Eu me sentia muito mais forte
Eu podia carregar meu violão
E sabia que eu podia cantar!
Mas, ei, como poderia saber?
Que o vento sopraria com a chuva?
Ei, como eu poderia ver
O que eles fariam
De mim?
Quando eu era pequeno, costumava sonhar
Que eu era um rei
Agora eles me ensinaram a cantar
Acho que obtive quase tudo
Que jamais poderia pedir
Você tem seu lápis, sua guitarra
Seu amplificador
Procurando pelos mentirosos nojentos
Você irá colocar fogo nesse mundo
Assim como Nero fez com Roma! Sim
Mas, ei, como poderia saber
Que meus olhos podiam ver no escuro?
Ei, não me pressione
Não sou o culpado, será que você não consegue ver?
Já faz muito tempo
Desde que o último rebelde se foi
Quem sabe você não será o próximo
A entrar para a história
I wish my bad marriage paid as well as Pink Floyd got paid.😁
By sidestepping it, in hindsight he must realise the way he left Floyd has let David Gilmour and Polly take charge of a lot of the Floyd legacy. Especially in terms of marketing the brand etc. Not his finest moment.
This would’ve been a great opportunity for Roger to acknowledge that he regrets suing Pink Floyd for attempting to continue without him. But of course he doesn’t have the balls to say that. I love Roger and I’m definitely more “team Roger” than I’m probably coming across in this comment, but this was a huge missed opportunity on his part to acknowledge something that has been a constant sore on his reputation after leaving Pink Floyd and he didn’t even mention it. He made the right choice to quit after 1985, but suing the band was a big mistake and he likely sees that as a big personal regret since it’s soured his relationship with David irreversibly.
Quoting from Quran :
In Sura Al-Mai'dah (5:21) "Allah" addresses the children of Israel as "O my people," urging them to enter the Holy Land. The verse states "O my people enter the Holy Land which Allah has assigned to you and do not turn back !
