A part of a forest from which people collect sap is called a sugar bush . It's not like an orchard. The only way to tell it from any other part of the forest is that in the spring the larger maple trees have spigots and either buckets or hoses attached.
We tend to call smaller uniform wooded areas ... bush lots or simply the "bush" . For instance we would go to the maple bush. Larger stands of assorted trees would be described as woods and forests - like Britain. We tend not to have moors, fens or dales.
Mapple butter is simply baked maple syrup that you then beat to mix it with air thats it We mostly use it as a spread for toasts but can be used as icing for sweets like donuts and cake
Fantastic video guys. You're selection of Canadian snacks were a good choice. Hickory Sticks and Coffee Crisp are my favourite. It's a sin against humanity that Coffee Crisp is not available around the world. Thanks for the compliments and for the great video.
Most people call where they tap the trees, and boil down the maple sap into syrup, a Sugar Farm. The building with the boiling pots is The Sugar Shack. (Not all maple trees are good for syrup, you have to have Sugar Maples) Either the light is 'really' bright. Or someone's 'really' stoned. (or both?) (or maybe Mike just forgot his glasses and is trying to read something)
Bahaha, the owl "hoooo!" I'm glad Canada didn't let you down. Those maple cookies were my absolute FAVORITE thing growing up! Since you're so keen on the chips, you guys definitely need to try Ketchup and All Dressed next time! (:
+Modernaires Oh no, how could Canada possibly let us down on the back of Brexit 😍😂 Truthfully we were blown away by the sceneries and the people's friendliness. We also ate so well everyday, miss the food!! Thank you so much for watching Amanda, I really hope you are doing super well, miss your videos so sooo much! I regularly check your channel in case YT hides your uploads from me🙈 No pressure though, I'm glad I can keep up to date with you still on IG & SC. 💕💕
I've always figured it to be the French sounding way (pu-tin) if it has cheese curds, or the Anglo version (pu-teen) with shredded cheese. I prefer the former
FYI the place where they make the maple syrup is called a sugar bush, or sugar farm, or sugar shack. Their might be a few other names for it but ya. Too bad you didnt try a Kinder Surprise. Glad you enjoyed the treats. Cheers.
Maple butter Canadian is maple cream in the states it is maple syrup heat to reduce the amount by a third to 112 degrees Fahrenheit then stirred/ whipped for about 1/2hr unless you have the machine which then take 8 minutes
poo-tsin is the correct way to pronounce poutine. Most people say poo-teen or poo-tin though because french is hard and schools don't teach it as well as they used to
Courtney Stroud Agreed! We later became very attached to the Hickory Chips though, they were sooo yummy! And the maple cookies definitely didn't last long😋🙈
Victoria Smith I would always get these out of the vending machine because they always seemed like they lasted longer and you got more than a basic bag of chips lol
Poutine is pronounced poutsine in fact in french Canadian also known as Joual all words with ti are pronounced tsi example: Petit, sortie, tirer and so on
Great video! You guys picked some great things to taste test. Next time try ketchup chips if you haven't already, most Canadians love that flavour. I'm surprised your friend didn't recommend those over the dill pickle flavour. I haven't tried the poutine flavour myself, so I'll have to get on that haha

My family has a private maple farm. :D It's was my grand father's, pass to my father, then my brothers use it. So maple syrup is always free. :) You don't need to purchase maple syrup butter and sugar, just cook it. Homemade always better. You just need 1 ingredient: maple syrup and just need to boil it on the right temperature and whipping it.

Poutine is actually a french word and we pronounce it like so : "putsin"
probably depends on where you live. The English way of pronouncing it is "puteen". So I've heard both, but in BC, most people say "puteen"
Lol he needs to open his eyes
Poutine is originally from Quebec, a French speaking province, hence it is pronounced POO-TIN.
the English speaking parts of the country call it poo-teen. Both are officially correct pronunciations, depending on the language you're speaking.
cool video :)

#1 for poutIIIIIIne
The way the english pronounce Poutine, is so innocent and cute. ^_^
Pronunciation of the french word poutine (from a french canadian). A trick, say these two words at loud: Poo Teen.
Most of our vowels aren't connect with the consonants. In that case, you ghave problems with the «out» and the «tine»
First: OU is pronounce as your OO.
In french, OUT is pronounce as OO, not like your «out».
Between the U and the T, the sound is mute. Pou (Poo).
Then the pronounciation of -Tine must sound as Teen. Poutine
Should have went with Old Dutch chips. Not those 2nd rate lays.
Poutine is pronounced poo- tin in Canada
we don't even eat those maple cookies here lol
We do in eastern Ontario.
Maple bush or sugar bush. That’s what we call maple “farms”. 😁
ahh this video is adorable. haha.
Chris Simpson Thank you so much, you are so kind!! 🙈💕
LOL
Poutine pronounced "Poo-tin" even from a westerner
poutine pronounced like poutin not pouteen. The chinese girl said it the right way!
Putin is the French way I think... but everyone I know says it poutine
Poo-teen in English, Poo-tin in French.
"Poutine" is kinda pronounced "Pwuh Teen" but like you give up on the N at the last second.
LaCrossian I think we were right in admitting defeat lol, will have to perfect it next time if we visit Montreal again :)
LaCrossian it's actually pronounced more like put-tin in Montréal where it originated. Her first attempt was actually VERY close but most people end up calling it "pooh-teen" anyways.
I've always said "pootin" growing up in Ontario it's the weird Frenglish way. In BC most say pooteen.
Its just (poo-teen)
I agree with Sonya, it's "Poo-teen"
Its POO-TEEN (poutine)
Actually, the French pronuciation is POO-TIN
most say pout-teen but the food originates from Quebec which the french always pronounced it pou-tin which is the correct way even though it is less popular
poo teen is close, it is sort of between poo tin and poo teen. So both works.
Poo-teen is what most people in Canada and around the world say but pootin (lol sounds like Russian presidents name) is what all or most French Canadians say
Why are they calling chips ,crisps?
Margaret Guenther That’s what we call them in the U.K. ;)
Chips in the UK are what we call French fries. (think "fish & chips")
Maple Butter IS just... yeah. Nothing quite like it.
As for the crisps; you didn't get Ketchup flavour ;..; But I think you would generally like it; and the Coffee Crisp is a remarkably hard chocolate bar. Moreso than any other I have tried.
dill chips are the worst we have
if you want to say it correctly think of the Russian prime Minister's last name
Ashley Judd LOL that's a good one! 🙌🏻
poo-tin in quebec, and poo-teen in the rest of canada!
Poutine is pronounces pou-th-ene its French
"PouTeen"
no not where the Poutine is originally from ( It's from Quebec ) it's pronounces " poutin "
It's like pout[EE]n
It is prounounced pou(TEEN) as in a teen
