We used to give our dog a nap in his crate after his first walk and lunch (early afternoon) and we would leave the room and put down a camera (cheap on Amazon)just to keep an eye on him. We first started to leave him for 15 mins then gradually longer.We did also have a cloth over the top and 2 sides of the crate so it was more of a cave/den and fewer distractions, although if your dog is quite distressed and active in the crate itâs not recommended to cover it. We also always had the radio on for a bit of white noise. We would praise him and give him a treat when in the crate. He also eventually started begging at the table at meal times and put him in the crate at dinner and heâd sometimes whine for 10 or so minutes, but then heâd always fall asleep. I think as long as theyâve been played with/fed/been to toilet, itâs best just to leave them whining or theyâll learn that whining equals your attention. Our dog is now 3 and his crate door hasnât been closed for about a year and a half. He loves it that much. He goes in of his own accord multiple times daily
Oh she is absolutely adorable. Best advice I can give is to socialise, socialised, socialise & expose to as many different things as possible. Also, allow Summer to learn to enjoy alone time, to help with separation anxiety. Let her learn it's ok to be alone, you always come back.

You did exactly what I did. Had bariatric surgery, got fit enough to walk a dog, then got one. I got a three year old rescue German shepherd crossed with collie spaniel mix, called Peanut who is the light of my life

She is adorable ! With the crate, we found putting a cover over it and making it into a cosy little den really helped both our pups to settle in there and see it as their safe place. Giving them a kong with a tasty filling also helps them settle and keeps them from getting bored. Good luck and welcome to the puppy rollercoaster ride! Xx

I loved when Summerâs head fell face first in the crate b/c she was so tired đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł. Congratulations on the newest addition to your familyâŠenjoy every minute w/ her! I try so much to avoid purebred and designer breed animals, but Summer is IRRESISTIBLE! She has such a sweet temperament. I would LOVE to see more Vlogs/videos with her in them đ¶đ¶đ¶
Omg guys sheâs beautiful , please consider though not having a collar round the neck and have a harness instead itâs so much better for the dog. I know you will love and care for her , canât wait to see more puppy videos â€

Congratulations!! She is so gorgeous. In the first few weeks of having my pup I used to play games with the crate throwing treats into it to make it fun & used to let her nap for an hour or so in the crate and then let her out for toilet and little play, and slowly built time up in there as she got older. Did that like 3 times a day.
I tried to open crate door and let her out before sheâd actually woke up in first few weeks so she never felt trapped or had any negative associations in there (and I never wanted her to associate crying with being let out). After a few weeks I slowly built up awake but chill time in the crate using stuffed Kong toys

How beautiful †you will make wonderful dog parents. I agree with the use of a harness, so much more comfortable and safer for dogs. Iâve personally never used a crate and I donât agree with them but Iâm well read on their uses pros and cons. Do what you think is best for Summer. I hope sheâs got that puppy smell that I just love. Your such a natural new puppy mummy.congratulationsđđđđ. I think I have a potential little digger on your hands. I think with crate training they take to it or they don't,yours looked happy in hers. One of ours never did get used to it what ever we tried. Enjoy.

I wish more people would adopt a pet instead of buying one from a breeder. There are thousands of animals who are beautiful and loving, and are desperate for their forever home. Please don't buy one because they "look right" or are "trendy". So many animals will get put down and its an absolutely unnecessary death. A rescue pet can also love you and be your best friend. Please just think about how much good you will be doing.
I'll never get my head round anyone buying a pet rather than adopting! Rescue is the best breed đ adopt don't shop â€
There are so, so many amazing dogs who need to be rescued, including lots of different breeds with different temperaments. I'm so sad you chose to buy a puppy.

Hi lovely, we wonât be taking her out for walks until itâs safe too. We had a bit of a long drive home and she needed to stop for a bathroom room break so we just stopped at some services and kept her on her lead, far away from any other dogs, so she could do her business đ she was also a bit car sick so she just needed a wee break from the car! But donât worry, she wonât be going on anyone walks until itâs safe for her to do so xx
