- With new restrictions in the North of England coming into place recently due to the Covid-19 pandemic, let's look back to happier times.
Workers receive pay before leaving on their holidays, and one goes home to tell his wife the happy tidings. They pack, and leave for Blackpool. At Blackpool, the beaches are crowded, and donkey rides, sea trips, and shellfish are in great demand. Even the famous ballrooms and Amusement Parks are well patronised, and Dancers perform the Lambeth Walk and the Blackpool Walk, not, perhaps, as expertly as it is done in one of the shows. After the holiday, the workers return, broke but happy. see story number 33854/2 for cuts

I've got a photograph of my Great Great Grandmother taken at Blackpool beach and on the back the date is stamped, 15th August 1938. It's amazing to see what she would have seen back then.
The good old days when the place wasn't full of Smack-heads.
You mean people with issue's who may be struggling?
And don't be fooled by the video's. In those days they rarely focused on the social issues of the day
Eeeee bye gum, that really was champion 😊
Poor Elephants.
That is exactly what I thought.
Yes me too..
When you look back, that was sheer cruelty.
This was well before my time, but certainly in the 50s and 60s the elephants 🐘 were taken regularly, early in the morning across the road from the tower onto the beach and into the sea. It was very normal to see them there.
I felt sorry for the lions and tigers 🐅 even as a child I knew it was wrong, they must have had a life of misery 😢
Pure times
The big dipper is still here, a few repairs over the years and she's still my favorite rollercoaster haha
It wasn't so happy for the poor elephants though! But the rest was fun.
Right then i`m off to watch George Formby Liver at the theatre.
Wonderful.
Thank you!
So interesting. Those people living thre lives and now all gone.
Poor sods. Head first into the coming war. What a sad fate.
2020 has gotten to me and the sight of crowds in this makes me uneasy 🤣
I expect the Blackpool walk lasted about as long as it deserved.'Ee by Gum,It's champion'
A really charming video. The only thing I did not like was seeing those poor elephants in that circus, especially those made to walk only on their hind legs for our entertainment. The welfare of our fellow creatures did not matter so much in those days.
Yes I really disliked that!
@GOLD.🕎 Hopefully without animal acts.
Ah all good fun!
paid holidays , not for people on zero hour contracts in 2020.
True!!!!!
Very interesting video xxx
Great video, not the elephants though.
For some reason I wouldn’t have trusted a rollercoaster in 1938 🤣🤷🏽♂️ I don’t know why!
Ypu wouldn't of known any different at the time
British engineering was the best in the world.
The flying rockets are still there! Bring back the Mad 🐁
the Wild Mouse was the most terrifying ride in the whole park..!
Hiram Maxim's 'Flying Machine' which was installed in 1905 and still going strong after 115 years.....
Well. HOLIDAYS 😁
WITH. 1938. I. SAY
JOLLY GOOD SHOW WHAT
GEOFF STOCKPORT CHESHIRE
Pleasure Beach please bring back tickets or do something better as its so K-rap at the moment....also make it free to walk round once again so families can enjoy it better....Ie older people enjoying grand-kids on rides!!
Anyone know the song at start?
whats the song?
The only thing that's good today is that circuses are dying out 5he cruelty some of these animals endured so people could call this entertainment poor elephants.
when england is still white and clean.
I know exactly what you mean 👏👏👍
England was (mostly) white but not-so-clean for most of its people, who were worked hard for little reward.
Thanks anyway, I'll be luckier next time.,!
Ok, ok, I see what's happening here
You're face to face with greatness, and it's strange
You don't even know how you feel
It's adorable!
Well, it's nice to see that humans never change
Open your eyes, let's begin
Yes, it's really me, it's Maui: breathe it in!
I know it's a lot: the hair, the bod!
When you're staring at a demi-god
What can I say except you're welcome
For the tides, the sun, the sky
Hey, it's okay, it's okay
You're welcome
I'm just an ordinary demi-guy
Hey!
What has two thumbs that pulled up the sky
When you were waddling yay high
This guy!
When the nights got cold
Who stole you fire from down below
You're lookin' at him, yo
Oh, also I lassoed the sun
You're welcome!
To stretch the days and bring you fun
Also I harnessed the breeze
You're welcome!
To fill your sails and shake your trees
So what can I say except you're welcome
For the islands I pulled from the sea
There's no need to pray, it's okay
You're welcome!
Ha, I guess it's just my way of being me
You're welcome!
You're welcome!
Well, come to think of it
Kid, honestly I can go on and on
I can explain every natural phenomenon
The tide, the grass, the ground, oh
That was Maui just messing around
I killed an eel
I buried its guts
Sprouted a tree, now you got coconuts
What's the lesson?
What is the take-away?
Don't mess with Maui when he's on the break-away
And the tapestry here on my skin
Is a map of the victories I win
Look where I've been
I make everything happen
Look at that mini-Maui just tippity-tappin'
Well, anyway let me say you're welcome
For the wonderful world you know
Hey, it's okay, it's okay
You're welcome!
Well, come to think of it, I gotta go
Hey, it's your day to say you're welcome
'Cause I'm gonna need that boat
I'm sailing away, away
You're welcome!
'Cause Maui can do anything but float
You're welcome!
You're welcome!
And thank you!
big night wing why did you right a poem
