    Thanks a lot man, you saved me like 1 month of studying programming and probably a hand full of money for buying spare parts in order to make a customized computer interface while you can do it under 10$. you are a genious

    Great Video. Easy to follow. a couple of things though.... Don't cut the outer cover so far back. Also, tin the wires first. and also solder the actual board as well on each contact. you will find it much easier when connecting the wires. and a lot neater.

    In future, tin the contacts first, and the wire ends, then just hold wire on contact, apply iron. Profit. PS, tin means add fresh solder.

  • @OperationCockpit
    @OperationCockpit  Před 11 lety

    hmm.....could be many reasons. Check to make sure that all the usb wires going to the board are connected. Make sure all solder connections are not touching other wires. Could be a possibility that the board might have been damaged from the heat of soldering. Could be a driver issue with the computer. Those are some of the possible problems I can think of.

    It's a nice idea but it would not work on the sim because if you connect a switch to key L it will HOLD all other inputs from working. it should be a PULSE and not a key hold.

    Great! Can you also emulate the key combination ctrl + key, ctrl + shift + key? and how? And, as already requested, Do you always use 330μF in this case and what about on/off switches? Same procedure?

    • @OperationCockpit
      @OperationCockpit  Před 10 lety

      Thanks! I did some thinking and to get the key combinations you would have to use a DPST relay. Connect each key to the end of a pole and then connect the remaining pole end to any one of the other pole ends. The rest of the procedure is the same as my toggle switch video. I noticed they can get expensive. I would the same capacitor. SPDT on/off switches will not work for this method because there needs to be power flow in both directions. An on/off switch would not allow the power to flow back.

    • @quixoticduck
      @quixoticduck Před 7 lety

      Thank you. I ended up doing something else already that I saw in another video which is separating the two plastic sheets of the keyboard, finding the circle beneath one of the keyboard buttons and connecting a wire to the circle on each side of the plastic. I then connected the other end of each wire to an arcade button, so when the button was pressed it was as if the two sheets were being pressed together, thus setting off the keyboard button. :)

    Warning: I'm a noob, and I know nothing. And I have a rather stupid question (sorry): When you were connecting the wires to the circuit, are the different wires allowed to touch each other? at: 6:40

    • @MyHunter9090
      @MyHunter9090 Před 9 lety +1

      Pre tor And what will happen if you connect the wire 8 and 16 together (12:40) and keep them together? Will it repeat the number 7? like 77777777777

    • @OperationCockpit
      @OperationCockpit  Před 9 lety +1

      Pre tor Good luck on your panel build! There's no such thing as a stupid questions. With every answer you learn something. If the wires touch when connecting the circuit nothing will happen. Just as long as they do not touch when you are done. Yes, if you keep the wires together it will keep repeating. I recommend looking into a keyboard emulator. It's much easier!

    Is he really emulating? He has hardware that is sending signals to the OS.
    A virtual keyboard that sends commands to the OS via a mouse press would be emulating. Also, seems like taking that circuit board and finding the appropriate connector would be better than sandpaper..

  • @SG1Andy
    @SG1Andy Před 9 lety

    I don't understand why you make things so complicated!
    Just buy a cheap I/O card and you can do whatever you want with it! This way you can only use MOM switches, you don't have 1/0 positions. If you use a I/O card you can actually use switches and assign different functions to different states of the switch.

    • @OperationCockpit
      @OperationCockpit  Před 9 lety

      Andy Krause Yup that would be totally easier. In my future builds I will be using an Arduino board.

    • @OperationCockpit

      Thanks Anglo very much
      Can you give me a link to how to i'm kind of new to arduino. Also i have a motor connected to the arduino mega and it is PID controlled using a magnetic encoder. The encoder uses 2 interrupt pins for accurate control over the motor. Does the keyboard modification or code require interrupt pins ? And if so can it work without problem with the motor interrupt function ?
      My project requires a joystick controlling a game and a real motor at the same time in sync.
      Thank you very much in advance.
