This loc journey has been trying for me too. I’ve always hid behind the wigs and weaves and I still felt unattractive, but now I’m starting to be like phuck it!! This is how I look yaaahhh mean 😂🤣

This video really hit home. Hiding behind makeup and feeling masculine with short hair. I can relate to all of it. I’ve had multiple sets of locs. I currently have locs and dealing with that stage but I’m learning to embrace it.

It was a really good observation that the older generation has less confidence than the younger. I find this to be very true! I can personally think of many encounters that prove it.

I appreciate this topic 🥲 I am 6 months loc’d and semi free forming. I am currently working through my preconceived ideas of clean hair. It’s easy to get obsessive about lint and cat hair and build up and what not and don’t get me wrong I avoid it with brushing and bonnet wearing! I just sometimes get worried someone will find lint in my locs and think my hair is dirty (slippery slope that leads to low self esteem). Anyway I appreciate the conversation🌱

For some reason I did not know anything about the "ugly phase". I learned that they called it that way after I got through it.
I did notice a lot of frizz and stuff but I wore headbands and scarves when I didnt like how I looked. I thought it was just another bad hair day each time. It was a peaceful time for me. Im having more trouble NOW that I'm 6.5 years in. I look beautiful but sometimes I dont feel I look beautiful.

I'm on my third try with locs. I always cut it before it locd up. I wanted the locs without the journey and didn't want the crochet method. I love watching your videos and I'm calling my locs a plant and it helps me understand the process. Love your channel.

Hopefully you find what works best with your preference but im glad the videos are helpful. I've found it's best to surrender things you feel you can't control. Personally, my journey is a physical reflection of that

I think your locs are gorgeous and progressing beautifully! I went through all emotion and stages during the beginning of my journey, but I'm so happy I stuck it out! In the begining my hair was SUPER uneven, sparse, and it's just natually fine, i felt like I had no hair LOL. But over time they did their thing and thickened out!

Yeesss definitely sometimes it simply takes multiple efforts to bypass certain experiences and to reach a certain comfort level
