    Yep, I agree with others, it's easy and simple (after the second or third time) to remove the fairing and makes it much easier to do the job. I buy the OEM 4 liter oil change kits, you always use 3 liters and have one left over for topping up if you need it, I go with the R9000 full synthetic. I'm at 13K miles, had the dealer do the first 600 mile service, have done the rest myself. One other tip, lay some foil in between the filter and the pipes as you will have oil dripping onto the pipes, it makes cleanup easier and you won't smell burning oil for miles afterwards. Oil changes are easy, just wait until you change the plugs, that's going to make for an interesting video for you..... 😉

      @pryme2013 heh....10K miles comes sooner than you think on this bike. It seems like a really short service interval for iridium plugs, so I asked a mechanic about it, and it makes perfect sense given that motorcycle engines run a higher RPM on average and run at higher compression than car engines. Oh, and if you're going to do the plugs might as well do the air filter so you don't have to take everything apart twice. 👍

    Hey man! Bought a '24 DL1050DE and it's built for the jolly green giant. Almost 35 in. seat height. Gonna trade it in and lose bigtime on a red GSXS1000GTplus like yours. Hope I love it. Great engine and that beautiful red. Can't wait. Gonna take a long, long ride to the Calif. coast. Perfect bike for it.

      It will be a lot better road bike to do that trip on vs the DL. Also much quicker. Smiles for miles have fun. I love every minute on mine

    Every suzuki i have every owned has been amazing. My only one complaint came from a king quad whos front differential cracked and was not covered by warranty due to my "tires". That said i was towing some heavy shit and likely am the cause. That said, all other cases, suzuki has been nothing shy of perfect. This GSXS1000GT is no different. I love this bike and after my first service had similar results of perfectly clean oil and filter. My aging DR is the same. It still has super clean oil for a thumper and it just never wants to die. Its done the tat a few times, its done hatfield mccoy, its done countless road miles, and it just keeps chunking along. You just can go wrong with suzuki engineering. They are imho some of the best in the world.

      @@pryme2013 btw, thanks for this video. I didnt wanna go cracking fairings and your helpful breakdown gave me everything i needed to do the job smoothly. Maybe 1/2 hour from drain to fill. I used a KN filter as it has a much easier to remove and tighten filter as it has the nut welded on the top. Used a gear wrench and it a piece of cake to install. Removal will be easy now too.

    This platform is literally a forever bike, if you do basics , really really hard to kill and value clearance is seldom an issue. Plugs,air and oil filter, fresh oil. And always buy multiple crush washers so you never ever make the choice of reusing old washer. Another note on this bike is pay attention to chain wear. You can get an O-ring chain and counter sprocket and rear chain ring as a kit. Brake pads are standard and easy, replacement before they need it will make rotors last way way past the service internal.

    I have the exact same bike and just did mine last week,Push pin can get damaged easy, I stayed with the Suzuki r5000 oil, On my next service i will use full synthetic. I really can't get a clear answer from other's about what oil i should use.I was told to change my first service with what the manual says then next service use synthetic.Who knows.

    • @pryme2013
      @pryme2013  Před 3 měsíci +1

      The manual doesn’t specify. It just says to change it for the first time at 600mi. As long as the oil you’re using meets the spec it doesn’t matter. With that said, I’ll take Amsoil over the ecstar Dino oil all day every day
