I worked with Reuben on one track, i've worked with countless mastering engineers over the years and he was the first who I would say really kept the mix the same but just enhanced what I had mixed, really one of the best and will be working on more mixes with him in the future.

There are more or less two types of mastering engineers: the artists and the transparents.
Artist-engineers will usually impose a heavy "fingerprint" of their hardware or methods, carve stuff out a lot heavyhanded etc.
Transparent mastering engineers try just to do what is needed, and stay out of the way.

When I first started in Audio engineering school I was doing everything in headphones I had some basic senheisers, I remember one overly technical teacher telling me all about why you can't mix in headphones blah blah, I stopped for years but came back to mix in HD650's because I travel and I dont have a great room, after two years mixing on these I know them so well and mix mixes translate better than anything I will do on a monitor now

After watching a video on Ozone, I would recommend that to anyone who can't hire a good mastering engineer. Their AI gets one pretty close with greater ease than any plugin that come out a decade ago (or even a few years). I was impressed with how good it sounds. Granted, I recently paid someone who masters with hardware and even tape. But if I had to do it myself, yeah, I'd be looking into Ozone (speaking as someone who gave it a shot with plenty of other plugins during the past few years).
