    HI Sista. Love Filipino food. Our oldest son is married to a Filipino family. I thought Hawaiian families were large. When all of us get together, we have to rent a hall. Food is so ono. You can't forget that the Filipinos love karaoke, thank God Debbie & I both have good voices, I being a musician for over 25 years. God bless you guys.

    Aloha Misty!! Mahalo for displaying the foods here at Minasa! Ive eaten the Lechon fries and churros from there. Both really good but yeah, a little pricey. You're Lechon Bowl looked really good alongside the lumpia. I might have to try that next time!:) its cool to since you have a traditional Filipino place in Elenas right there, then a fusion one in Minasa next door. I would recommen ppl to try both places🤙😋. Mahalo for another great review Misty👍

    The shanghai lumpia had an amazing crunch. The lechon bowl looked like a texture and flavor bomb! Was just at Village Bottle Shop & Tasting Room over in Salt Kakaako. That IS a great tip at the end regarding deep fried foods. Nothing beats eating it ASAP. It's not really something you can save for tomorrow. An air fryer is probably the best thing to reheat, but even that is not so great. Anyway, also wanted to drop you a note that you are my favorite food vlogger and I've wondered to myself why. I've come to the conclusion that it's your ASMR voice. Nothing flashy or over the top. I do watch others and sometimes get irritated by the vocalizations like: "Hel-LOOOO! We are taking you someplace SPECIAL TODAY (with uplifting tone)!" Thanks for keeping it real!

    • @FoodFiend

      Aw thanks. I'm just myself and have always been kind of deadpan in personality. My friends joke and called me Daria in high school. The cartoon of the girl that speaks in monotone. I think different channels suite different tastes for everyone so that makes everyone happy. 😊 Thanks for your kind note and always watching. I hope your trip to Singapore was a great one. 👍

    • @spang9782
      @spang9782 Před 9 měsíci

      @@FoodFiend Ahhh! A reminder of another reason to watch you! You actually keep track of what your viewers say! My trip to Singapore was a mixed bag. It was on a tour, so most of the meals for 2.5 days were supplied by the tour, so we had no choice. On the one day we had a "free" choice, the hawker center we went to actually had NO ONE selling Hainan chicken and rice, which is the one dish I wanted to try because so many vloggers suggested it! Then, we spent the entirety of one day visiting an indoor garden which I thought was nice (it was a/c) until someone pointed out that some of the fabulous flowers and plants of which I was taking pictures were FAKE. Then, we went to see the famous "Merlion" statue (half lion, half fish), but it was being renovated and was covered up. That killed my whole day. Still, it was a good trip. Thanks for remembering!

    Aloha/Kamusta (in Tagalog) Misty!! Catching up on videos since we’ve been swamped with work. That lumpia crunch sound = 😋. Can never go wrong with it when eating Filipino food!! The lechon bowl looked so good. For the amount of food and the ingredients included in the bowl we agree that the price was fair. Very surprised to hear the Ube churros didn’t have too much Ube flavor but glad to hear they were sweet and delicious!! Can’t wait to see a little sweets during this non-beer season!! 😂 Thanks as always for sharing some other dishes we didn’t get to try from them. We’ll have to do a Filipino Food Tour since they’re right next to Elena’s!!

    Nice crunch on the Lumpia and descent size bowl of goodness !
    One thing that struck me visiting Oahu, is the use of olive green on a lot of the buildings, like on Minasa you went to. I’m guessing it was a conscious decision to have this olive green everywhere.

    • @FoodFiend
      @FoodFiend  Před 9 měsíci +1

      The green olive or dark paint was the style for some reason in the old times. Kind of like plantation style homes. So I guess it stuck and people try to bring in the old Hawaii style by painting buildings and homes that color for a throwback feel. Hope that explains the color. Why it was picked originally? I have no clue. Maybe it was the cheapest color of paint at the time. Lol.

    Aloha Misty: This review of Minasa was a great one for the “senses,” both visually and the taste (from my opinion from of the visual veiw). That lechon bowl, with the massive serving, would last the whole day for me - I hope Aiden enjoyed his share. Amazing how they had the custard within the churro - I haven’t even seen such a great creation at the Mexican bakeries here in NorCal. Imagine pairing the Filipino food with a nice cold San Miguel beer. 😀. Take care and best wishes, fellow 🐯! Salamat-po and 🤙!
