Let's Paint A Heavy Soviet Winter Camouflage! (KV-2, Tamiya 1/48)

- My friends, winter camouflages on tanks are a very specific type of paint job. In most cases, you can clearly tell when you're done applying the basic colors to your model and when it's time to start the weathering process. However, in this case, the lines are very blurry, and a winter camouflage sort of evolves with each weathering step.

Last time I was this early this tank was still in service
Don't worry soon it shall be again.
If things keep going the way that they are a certain part of the world is a possibility lol
Great guide! I love the effect so far and look forward to seeing it finished. I think I'll definitely be taking some advice from this for one of own videos!
Hello Pete, nice seeing you here :)
Woo! Some Night Shift goodness to make me motivated again to build my models!😊
I feel you! Martin and mike Rinaldi keep me going when I’m lacking motivation.
Are you planning on doing another full interior tank? Your A7V was amazing and it would be cool to see some others 😎
Seems like there might be another one sooner or later!
@@NightShiftScaleModels miniart t 55a perhaps?
Excellent work as always, my friend!
I watch all of Martin's videos and I haven't built a model (WW2 aircraft were my 'thang') in almost 45 years!
It's just the precision, care in building, painting and weathering that attracts me - I'm a photographer and observational poet and it's 'observation' that is the thing - the eye for detail, solving a problem of creating a particular 'effect' and putting this into a model is what makes your work a real work of art!
Outstanding!
hear hear ❤
Thank you , Uncle Martin .
🐺
The only thing about your videos is that you make all seem so easy!! Seriously, you do an outstanding job, it is learning which technique you need to use to achieve a certain look. I know what I want, getting there is the hard part. Outstanding.
I got to say, that Lacquer Base MRP paints is ALL I use. I LOVE THEM. I gradually build up color and after a couple of layers, they cover so well, and look so clean when airbrushed, and even hand brushed the paint leaves no brush strokes when dried.
100% professional as always.
I could watch you paint all day, it's kinda therapeutic tbh.
Unbelievable work , the paint came out great . Such good directions and guide .
SOOOO KOOOOOLLLLLLLL .
Mike .
I'm from Russia and leave in Saint Petersburg (before Leningrad) I began watching you and understood that you assembled and built very good models and diorams. Thank y for your video.
Thank you nightshift you have helped me so much with going out of my comfort zone and trying new things, eventually I'm going to make a motor pull of a Humvee and tank but add lights to them
I bet that chipping and rust effects made that massive turret stand out even more. Can’t wait until next week. Nice compact episode too. 👍👍👍
You should try making a black and white model with figures along with a black and white diorama. Make it all look like an old photo which of course would be in...well black and white!
Martin, thank you so much for your videos. They are not only excellent tutorials, but are very entertaining with your commentary and humour. Well done!
That's a really good technique for snow camouflage over a Russian green. I tend to work backwards from shadow, too. Great job!
The best moment of the week : THE MOY FREUND TIME !!!
Enjoyed the vertical streaks
One of the more interesting and unique whitewash finishes - well done! 👍
Wonderful! Thank you.
Looks incredible. Your winter white wash, is a massive inspiration, for the winter binge, I’m currently in with my models lol 🙌
Most reaslistic and superb winter camouflage, VERY impressive!
Excellent as always, really like how you broke down the mapping technique! Thanks!
this Vid just arrived as I need it. thank you for you stuff good sir..
Great quality modeler! Excellent painting techniques and I learn more brilliant ideas! Thank You will continue to watch!
Awesome! I love the streaks and drips, hopefully I’ll use this soon. Looks great as always! Although your KV-1 is a classic, this one is going to be even cooler!
Let’s see you do an MATV!
Always a pleasure. Thanks Uncle Night Shift 💕
Thanks for repping Michigan Toy Soldier. They have a great store in Royal Oak, Michigan.
Nice painted model
Just perfect ! Congratulations !
This is beautiful
Great timing, I'm working on a winter snow build to, thanks for so many ideas , cheers 👍
Thinking this channel is only one worth watching, good technics with humour. Makes it a must .
Thanks! It’s great watching an artist
Pekné... Už sa teším na konečný výsledok, zároveň som zvedavý co bude následovat po tomto modeli... 👍👍👍👍🏅
Wow these looks incredibly real. I don’t paint models, but I will keep this is mind for some miniatures.
I love Friday!👍🍻
Amazing work night shift!
Truly incredible work as always!
Fantastic as always!
It's looking especially cool, this one.
Another Christmas diorama in the future? This KV-2 vid already feels like an early X-mas gift. Lol
Watching this during a uni class, no regrets this is much more interesting
Omfg that painting job is soo good!
Great techniques and enjoyable viewing as always.
Can't wait to see this finished :)
I definitely must remember that. Very useful. And great result. All the best for You! ;)
Great..........Fantastic, very nice and really winter Tarn
Another great video man, keep it up
Another satisfying Friday!!!
looks amazing, man! always love it when you do some unconventional camo!
I was planning to make a winter camouflage vehicle, so this will come in handy!
Just simply beautiful. Great instruction as well, I am sure i'll be watching this video a few times. =)
It's a good day when Uncle Nightshift drops a video full of awesomeness!
Nice work 😃👍
your videos are always satisfying to watch with a nice cup of coffee 👌
Hell yeah new nightshift vid! I'm hoping to build an IS-3 at some point soon
Nice
Just recently finished a 1/35 kv2 wouldve been nice to use this as a bit of a guide but I was able to use your kv1 videos awesome video btw
Ohhh I forgot today was uncle night shift day! What a great surprise
The best part of Friday...:)
I love this! gonna start a KV-2 in 48th as well, then make a Yugoslav/Serbian M36 tank wreck with some reference photos I took myself!
Wow a nice Tank🤘🏻nice Winter Camo
Greetings from the Bastel 🤘🏻Bude
You should build a model Humvee, HEMTT, MRAP, MATV, C-HET, or any kinda modern military wheeled vehicle
Very interesting model. I dont usualy see a winter camo tank🥶. Amazing job👍
I have at home 6 winter camo made tanks T-34 KV-1 and IS versions😉 Russian olivgreen is boring😂
if you have troubles airbrushing white you should try liquitex white ink. Sprays like a dream and it has a smoother finish aswell. Great video!!!
This will be another masterpiece! Great job! Now I want to build a Soviet winter tank too... 😄
I almost forgot it was Friday, but then I saw the notification and boom, my day was made better
It would be really neat if you painted the ring left from the bucket of paint on the tank like they put the bucket down as they were painting it and it left a big old ring on the hull or turret
Like allways teacher Night shift is The best
Nice tonk
I'll try out some this on my panzer iv in 1.35 scale 👍
I love doing winter camo on armor and your representation is awesome as always my friend 👍🏽👍🏽
I don’t know how you do it! It looks amazing every time I try to make a white wash it just flakes off in massive chunks all the way to the primer🫤
Thanks for the Video, the white wash looks fantastic. The Preshading was worth the effort. Would you recommend the same workflow for a white wash on Tri Tone camouflage?
Looks amazing! Do you thin your black primer with anything? Keep up the great work mate 👍
yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyy
its friday again so another video :)))))))
Огонь!!! Как всегда очень круто!
My idol.
I can imagin this tank like hiding behind half demolished house diorama.
Merci👏👏👍
wow you have fast hands
Can you please make and paint a small brown cat that’s sitting on the tank?
Man, you make it look so easy. I tried putting a winter whitewash on an SU-100 but it came out a bit of a disaster, lol
Also, I wish I could get the ease of use you do with washes, I always struggle to keep it from either being wiped off too easily and removing the effect or impossible to clean up without accidentally taking off the previous layers (even through a varnish)
Its freezing, uncle🥶🥶
What exactly is mapping? It's cool to see you partnered with Michigan Toy Soldier. Those guys are really nice.
The post shading technique sort of makes the model look like the illustrations on their boxes
Great job
🔵🔵🔵👍👍👍😀😀😀🔵🔵🔵
Very interesting to watch - regarding "discount codes" are there any in the UK or europe as buying from the US is way too expensive so saving nothing
I wonder if kids white poster paint would work for the final step?
I'd love to see a tank Vs sniper diorama. Similar to the scene in saving private Ryan
just wondering what air compressor you use for your airbrush, i just got ahold of a single action siphon feed one, but the compressor sounds like a v8!
i am looking for a smaller silent one, if you have any recommendations on witch one, that would be great.
also can you do a guide to pre shading aircraft panels i cant find a good one and i need more details to paint my next big model.
love what your doing, keep it up, have a good day!
Glory to the KV 2 !
It’s time to do another meme diorama. Abandoned T-80BVM being towed away by farmers tractor. I know you don’t like to get political but the world needs armor modelers right now.
Hey! Any thoughts on doing a recovery vehicle of some sort?
Can you try and do a tank model with an interior or an interior cutaway?
So good! What color was your first pin wash? Was it the dark main green (4bo) color of tank, just watered down? It definatly looks green and not black or brown. Did you mix anything in with the green?
Great work you should make a panther next
