If you're really young you have no clue how big Bobby Brown was. At one point he was the most famous entertainer on the planet. He had the most success outside of New Edition. He was a mega star. He went diamond 💎 on his first solo album
His second album's the one I think you meant to say. His first album fresh outta N.E. was Edit: "King of the Stage" was Bobby's first album, which is considered a flop. "Don't Be Cruel" was his second & most successful album. Now that one may have gone diamond.

Lol Chris is the best! Nsync was always so genuine with their fans, so the "roles" they got were literally just their personalities - although I'm sure it was an oversimplification of them.

I would argue the blue print for boybands was doo-wop groups in the 50s like Dion and The Belmonts and Frankie Lymon and The Teenagers performance wise. And the whole thing of every member having a distinct personality and merchandising came from The Beatles.

However, yes ...the doo-wop groups of the 1950s laid the foundation for boy bands. Yes. They are the blueprint. But, honestly, they have little to do with what we think of when we think of boy bands today. I would separate it into two categories. You have the classic category (the 1950s and 1960s) and then you have the contemporary category. ( starts with the late 1960s going into the 1970s). The contemporary groups are the ones who were the blueprint for the modern boy bands. And that did start with the Jackson 5. After that, it would be New Edition, then New Kids On the Block, and so on.
