I read since I was 5 and the times I enjoyed reading the most were those where I had no pressure and was able to truly enjoy the stories that were being presented to me. Also, opinions come into play, for example you obviously adore classic literature, however I would rather be skinned with a potato peeler than read another bloody Shakespeare play, and that’s fine. If someone reads a lot, that means they are able to constantly find literature that they can enjoy and feel a connection with, and, at least in my opinion, that isn’t worthless.

Educating yourself is great, but watching videos or lectures on your phone can be much more rewarding. Most books are outdated information and your phone has newer if you look up the right things. If he insinuates that reading anything, even fiction, will make you a CEO, then he has lost his marbles more than I thought. Also I doubt the 60 books a year CEO thing is real. Pick a book in which you understand about 50-70% of words, that way you will still be able to understand the story and passively pick up new words. With this method it takes me about a year to get to a native speaker level without putting much effort in. Im on my fourth foreign language and I can tell that reading in other languages is much more exciting than in your native one.
