One thing I've noticed over the years is even though JSU and Southern can't stand each other, many times they will not allow another band to come for the other one. If a band says they're better than Southern, JSU fan ain't having it. Same thing with Southern. There is a lot of dislike, but a healthy amount of respect, which I appreciate. Both bands are something to deal with, especially in the stands.
I don't think this will ever happen for Crankfest but the culture needs SU, JSU, NSU and A&T in one building stands and field.

But I thought all the bands showed out AND this was my favorite Crankfest so far!
I would love to see Southern, JSU, Tennessee State and maybe Norfolk or NC A&T, if not both.
For me the difference between JSU and Southern were by the slimmest of margins and honestly I wouldn't argue with someone who said they won.

@@DeoKami Definitely was impressed by Texas Southern for doing their thing in the land of giants. Talladega is also improving.
JSU was the clear winner. SU wasn't far behind but they were still behind. I was impressed with TSU. Their start to the season as disastrous. Their rebound was what we want to see from a band. It just so happen they didn't have anything to compare with Dega's power, JSU's presence and wow factor, and SU's arrangements. I liked them better than Dega tho. IJS #Boomfest
JSU won...honestly SU could’ve been my first pick but you can’t win with songs from previous crankfest and BOTB. Keep it fresh. Next year I say add Miles and TNSU to that thang plus the two heavy hitters.

coming back to these videos, i hope one dega realizes they have so much potential with their numbers and musicians. They mostly just play loud and in your face. if they put that energy into some decent arrangements and a little bit of work with dynamics besides forte between sections, they could easily be up there with SU and JSU.
They cranked on su at port city. It is mainly some of their arrangements but they need a little work on musicianship
Let me put this out here, NO! I'm not a product of TXSU. I'm Boom all day, my uncle crabbed in 94 But I have to put this out there, Texas Southern is actually not a bad band. Ppl be trynna shit on em cuz they don't have the size like everyone else, the trumpets like southern and dominant euphos. TSU biggest problem is recruiting right now, everybody knows this. If these people get the 06 size or close to or bigger the Swac needs to watch out. Due to everything that happened to them I applaud Tsu. I can say this whenever SU or JSU is in the picture, the fanbases be trying to block everyone else out. SU has taken an L to almost every swac band throughout the years including TSU. I don't hate SU's band but I hate their fanbase cuz they can't admit L's or fax. Even Muhammad Ali took an L before. Nobody perfect, we had our fair share of L's when I was in the boom.

The timing of I Ain't Mad At Cha was bad. Good playcall but it needed to be played earlier when the battle was slower. Took the excitement of that part of the battle away. Then TSU didn't help with Player's Ball or whatever that was.

Amos Johnson actually A&T would be good. They just need some more brass. But for what they got they actually are 🔥. Famu on the other hand 😴... Ncat field wise is top notch. Stand wise give them some more numbers and they get a little bit more aggressive and they will stand against anyone

ME FOOL is not about power or how loud you are . Zits about good tone quality , intonation, etc balance . But yes txsu has the smallest trumpet section out their . If u want to be honest JSU was the most balanced band there followed by southern . And that’s where most bands fall hard to both of them .. arrangements and balance.. not just loud

Trust me when I say this .. dega was very impressive I just need more balance from them . When they get more bones it will be noticeable.. as for Jackson I like them a lot this past season they should work on more trumpets and baritones sound especially a stronger trumpet section .. txsu was good as well . They need to really focus more balance with a small number and also work on recruitment with trumpets and mellos and a solid bone section. I didn’t get that wall feel from their bones ... southern .. needs to bring back that fullness in the mello section like they was known for . They was one of the bands that had mellos playing in the lower register and could feel em I need that back . Southerns trumpets should keep that 60 plus from previous seasons because they are a very strong band . Their bones are under rated one of the best in the swac . Their tubas came along way and the only way us too get better.. I see both southern and Jackson both big as hell fall 2020 , I got that gut feeling
