- Running a quick test with the MC-21 and Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 III. I'm finding that turning the sensitivity up slightly has helped with this lens' performance. Also, good light really helped compared to my last test.
Shot wide open in V-Log.

Unreal! Thanks for this doing this test. This lens with the MC21 works relatively well in single AF on my S1, but seeing it in action in continuous mode here is like a dream!
Thank you, for you answer a question I had at the beginning of January 😊
Nice!
Nice test!
Hey, thank you! Love your products. Let’s see a drop-in ND adapter with PDAF afc support ;-)
@@hopkinsfilms Will pass that along to our design team :)
@@FotodioxInc right on!
Well done, thanks! Just wondering what would happen if you use a EF lens with IS and turn it on? On the GH5 if I adapt a EF with IS you can only have either body or lens IS. They don't work both at the same time.
The reason why you're seeing that on the GH5 may be because of limitations with the EF to M/43 adapter you're using, not because of the camera itself. The MC-21 (used in this video) communicates the gyro data between camera and lenses, so yeah - it makes Dual IS work with the S series models
Wow hold on, you can get Auto focus with Canon Ef lenses?? I thought it only works for sigma Ef’s. That is crazy!!
Would be interesting to see how perform the Viltrox EF-L Pro
wow! amazing! thank you for this video. I can't wait to next wedding season with this badboy. Now I am in 100% sure that I want S5 II more than R7.
On settings 1,1 it looks pretty damn good! I love that I can set AF speed and sensitivity in menu. In canon I cannot do that... Now I am just curious how it works with EF16-35mm, on one youtube video I saw that it was good too but it was only one shot.
Yeah! I have AF Speed and Sensitivity" added to "My Menu" so I can press one button and there it is in my menu! You can also set it to a custom button so you can recall it even faster.
@@hopkinsfilms no way! :O wow... I could dream about something like that in canon. Ohhhhh day after day I can't wait for it but I need to be calm to the end of january because my seller told me that i could be available in last january week :(
I saw your other test with sigma 50mm and 135mm and I see that you found the best setting for every lens - 1,1. It works awesome on every lens. Sigma 50mm is just jumping with focus like I was saying before on other your video but I think it is just typical thing for that lens.
Nice test, its gonna work with EF- 50 mm 1.4 lens? And how is the ef lens focus noise when recording?
I’ve only tested the Sigma EF 50mm 1.4 and it worked great. I have tests on my channel. Yes, you can hear the focus noise.
Does IBIS and lens IS work with the Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 III EF?
hey man, do you know how the af works in photo? im guessing its just as good? these videos are great btw!!
Hey man, thank you! So, I haven't tested the Canon L + MC-21 lenses in photo mode. Josh Cameron did a video about this and the summary seemed to state that there were some issues. I would search for him on CZcams, he does great work. Let me know if you can't find him.
do you have test with sport photography ? :)
Wow mate, so canon is an option too now 😂 Thx
It's decent! I bet the Sigma 70-200mm EF would be even better.
amazing!! is it pretty quick for photo too?
I haven't checked, but I can!
@@hopkinsfilms sweet, thanks!! I will know soon myself, have 2 s52's pre-ordered (have 2 s5's, s1r now) and have 2 mc21's and some other canon lenses left. Really want to add a 70-200, wish sigma would release their L mount version, but I'd get an EF one if it's pretty solid for both. Can't wait, wish they already shippped
@@hopkinsfilms did you test?
@@aleksanderhaugdal2060 no, I did not.
Interesting shifts in focus on the background. Great tracking, but the focus shift was snappy and not smooth. Still, pretty darn good though.
Totally, definitely more apparent on adapted mechanical lenses vs the newer fly by wire lenses.
Please test the sigma manufactured lens of same
Is it loud when using AF with EF lenses?
I find the Sigma EF lenses are quite loud. The Canon ones are fairly quiet though.
I'm so curious how commlite adapter works. Do you have one ?
I don't, but right now the only adapter that is compatible with AF-C is the Sigma MC-21. This is due to it being a part of the L-mount alliance.
@Hopkins Films Oh, good to know. Are they made any update for mc-21 which allow camera to use AFC?
@@BartoszRybotycki it was working great even on firmware 1.3. Which is not new. I updated to 1.4 just to be safe which came out in Dec 2022.
@@hopkinsfilms afc in video was never working with mc 21
@@ludovicavice3496 for sure, I just meant I didn’t need to update it at all for it to work with the S5II.
wait... So these are adapted lenses? Cool.
Yes! Must use the MC-21, I'll update the title.
Has anybody tested the MC21 with Sigma lenses? Because I have... with terrible results.
Yeah, I’ve tested the 135mm Art 1.8 with great results. Are you testing Art or older lenses? What resolution and frame rate?
how do you like this camera man?
I like it!
