Fun fact: this song is actually inspired by me, and Rivers wrote it after I told the veterinarian that I wanted my Raditude Deluxe Edition vinyl implanted in my brain so I can always be partying wherever I go.

NGL…my cousin bought me a record player for my birthday and I really do feel a strong, comforting embrace-something digital media can’t do.
This sounds like a companion to Grapes of Wrath. Similar message. Grapes is about escapism through books. Records is about escapism through music. Weezer's music deals with escapism a lot actually.
Their original escapism song is "In the Garage". I get a similar vibe with "Records".

As someone who’s always had to use my headphones and music to calm down or get through stressful moments (as a mentally ill child it was the only way to bring me peace of mind) so this speaks to me on a spiritual level, now I’ve had this song stuck in my head for weeks 💛
BROOOO you just described my life perfectly. I was also a mentally ill child (not a child anymore but still am) and music was my only escape, my only comfort, like a friend, it spoke to me clearly and made me feel less alone, it understood me. Music also inspired me to write my own lyrics , write down my own feelings into words, since I was 12. Even now music is still the thing that always saves me and keeps me around. Without music idk what or where I'd be. And Yup this song is amazing and a relief.

I'm here because I wanted to remember all of the words to this song... because I want to sing this song inside my head when people make me mad. I remembered that there was a line in this song about singing songs in your head to drown out the negative voices of others - "When people make me mad, I don't hear a word they say. Just the sound of scratches"--and I thought "damn that's such a good idea!!!!" I have to get this song stuck in my head so I can sing it in my head whenever someone at my job is telling me my best isn't good enough, namecalling me and/or stressing me out :D!
