Hello everybody ! There have been many requests for me to make this tutorial. And today I just had time to implement it, initially I was going to use Web Service written in ASP.NET to do the backend but I suddenly thought "Why not use Firebase, which is a good backend". So I decided to use Firebase in this tutorial.
And I will show you how to create a database using Json and import to Firebase

Hey EDMT, Your tutorials have been really useful for me. I'm completely new to android development. I'm doing a Higher National Diploma in IT in my country (Sri Lanka).
In my final year we have mobile application development module. We have to submit a project for that module. At 1st I have no clue what to do for the project. and then I found your tutorial playlist. Now I'm little bit familiar with Android Studio, XML and stuff. Now I'm on part 5. Your tutorials are very straight forward. no commentary (if there was one it'll be better).
For me, I can understand what you are doing. If not I'll google myself why are you doing that. and that way I can understand more.
I have experiences in Java before starting android development. So it's easy to get the job done. And for all of that, Thank you so much!

For all those doing this Tutorial recently and has the latest Android Studio 3.0.1
FButton will not work as this Studio version is not compatible with FButton library. So, just change it to simple Button and remove all the last 4-5 lines which includes "app" tags from your layouts.
It will work smoothly then without the crash. Cheers!

Sir, I have a minor issue. Tried to see if it was answered before and doesn't found anything. The thing is that when I click [Sign In] button (or [Sign Out], btw) the other in the row moves like if it was also clicked. It's just a visually thing, the functionality is fine all through part 1. Can you point me something to correct this? TIA

I have an issue in which it crashes me every time I click the "Sign In" button. I tried verifying if I've added the dependencies and there are, checked if my app is successfully connected to the Firebase database and it is, checked if the references from XML are correctly used and they are. The only differences from what you're doing is that when I declare mDialog and table_user as variables, it declares at as a final, and in order for me to use it without final, it's to declare it globally. I tried that, same thing, the app continuous to crash. Did anybody experienced the same issue as mine?
P.S.: I must mention that I recently reinstalled Android Studio and maybe I'm thinking that there are some setups that needs to be done in order to avoid such problems. Thanks!

I know the comment is old but for anyone new like myself looking through the comments, yes try the other replies first but it might be to do with the realtime database location. I think google assumes it is set to US so when I had mine set to west europe, android studio shat its pants and the please wait message kept loading. Redownload the firebase json file, put it in old location and delete old json file. Hope that helps. The debugging feature and logcat helps identify issues with the app as it shows errors right after you do a certain task so it might help pinpoint the error.

I tried for umpteenth time and I could realize that it start to working strange ("keeps on waiting please...") after I Add whole code for Sign Up, until finish Sign In, everything works as expected, after Added sing up code, everything get fucked, I whatch the video many times and I cant find error on code :-(

Any idea why I can`t change the button colors no mater what ? When click the button in Design view I can see under buttoncolor the color is green and in the preview window stays blue this is for the SING IN button and SIGN UP?
Try clean and rebuild your project
@@eddydn71 Thank you it worked. When I clean and init the project the button`s color work but when i run the application it automatically sets them again to blue. If i want to change the color again i should Clean Init again

You can solve this issue by adding this dependency to your app module of build.gradle

I keep getting stuck around the same part but for different reasons. I am about 19 minutes in and when trying to make sure the app runs like in the video it builds and loads to the emulator and crashes. I've looked at the logcat...not sure what I'm looking at really but there's more red than I care for but I think this may be the issue (Caused by: java.lang.UnsupportedOperationException: Can't convert value at index 1 to color: type=0x5) but not sure how to resolve it. Any suggestions?
