New BMW M4 Competition Convertible | An all-wheel drive M4? (4K)

  • This is the new 2021 BMW M4 Competition Convertible, the final version of the new BMW M3 Competition & M4 Competition model line up to be released. It is arguably the most desirable model in the line up but also one of the most interesting because for the first time the M3 & M4 are available with BMW M xDrive, and the Convertible is only available with M xDrive! The convertible M4 uses the same 510hp power plant as its hard top siblings but thanks to the all-wheel drive system the 0-62mph sprint is dealt with in just 3.7 seconds! That is supercar performance.
But has the addition of all-wheel drive an inevitably nearly 200kg to the BMW M4 Competition Convertible ruined one of the best performance cars out there? We sent Matt to find out.

Matt. We've all been waiting for this, the ultimate Convertible. M4 X Drive. As you say, the Lottery winning ticket first spend. So capable, so well designed and constructed. Excellent " real" review. And superbly filmed against a moody English landscape in typical UK weather. Thank You! One to share! Stay safe.

Great video as always, Matt! Love your passion and energetic delivery. Have there been difficulties for people getting their M3/M4 allocations and deliveries in the UK? My M3 Comp xDrive production was bumped to October now due to reduced dealership build allocations in Canada.

I read a few owners of the Xdrive saying that the exhaust sounds a little bit more fruity than the RWD version. Nobody knows why, but several have mentioned it. Perhaps the car has a different map in the lower gears, unlike the torque limited RWD in its first coupe of gears??

Don’t get me wrong but have had BMW cabriolet fabric roofs in the past and they are awful. Am sure they sorted out the leaks after a number of years driving but the cleaning of bird poo or other stains is a nightmare, I would take the extra weight. 😳 Yes I like the interior and exterior carbon edition plus the 4 wheel drive which is know available.

Also there's a M3 CS (and most likely a M4 version) which is due to go into production next year (2022) in time for the 50th anniversary of M GmBH celebrations - along with an as yet unknown model which has been testing in an 8-series mule at the Nordschleife seen with red accents around the deep inside edge of its modfied kidney grills.
