- I remember the first time I was starting to practise this variation, or better yet Pas de Trois. It was such an exciting piece. The main thing about this piece is its speed. It is so short, but you feel like going to be shot out of a cannon. Especially the part with the rond en l'air, again because of the speed and it could be a real guess work, if you are you going to be able to hold the balance. But, anyway enough about me. In my opinion, Sarafanov is one of the finest classical dancers we have today. The only thing I sometimes don't like about him is his expression on stage, because he can sometimes appear just a bit like a doll on stage. But I must say, I still like him very much in this piece, mainly because he does it so cleanly and it actually appears as if it were easy, but also because he really manages to show the personality of the character in the 50 seconds that the piece lasts. So, yeah, these are just a bunch of my thoughts on the subject. In my opinion, a job very well done.

Novikova and Sarafanov, Don Quixote, my favorite
sarafanov had me mesmerised
Mariinsky lost its greatest, most captivating, energetic, Baryshnikovish Basilio when Sarafanov left...
