As a young black girl, I looked up so much to the greats like Josephine Baker, Billie Holiday, Dorothy Dandridge, and Lena Horne. So much elegance and used their status to become activists for our community. I love when Bailey does stories like this on such a large platform because so many people truly don’t know the history these people have made. Thank you Bailey❤️ you’ll always have a plate at the cookout
Hallelujah, thank you Bailey for sharing this ❤
Tu es trop belle maman 😊
Le collier de joan est fantastique elle me fais toujours sourir 😊❤
If you haven’t already, you should check out karine alourde
She posts videos about all the greats you mentioned also some self-love videos sprinkled in there too ❤️❤️
Yes I loved josephine baker ❤
As a black girl who is a fan of you, thank you for doing her story. Josephine is the IT girl, she deserved so much more recognition and people still are influenced by her til this very day.
^^^🙌🙌 i honestly never heard of her before this video; so if it weren’t for bailey i would probably never have heard of her - josephine was so pretty💔🫠
Yo Gurl same. I was like oh Bailey YES!!!
Totally!🍓💖🍒
She was bullied and horribly abused by multiple people, and never once let it get her down on herself. We love a lady who knows her self-worth!
The first human may not have been around another, another for some time.
BAILEY COVERING BLACK HISTORY is why I will ALWAYS be a Bailey fan 🥹🥹🥹🥹🖤🖤🖤🖤
Period!
Elle a déjà fait une vidéo sur les hispanique et maintenant sur les noirs ils font un excellent travail
Plus, it wasn't because it is black history month!
❤❤❤❤
@@sandraboudreau1551 Bailey Nails it again ❤ her! ⭐
I love that some episodes we have luxuriously dressed full face Bailey that makes us feel like we're meeting the Queen, and some days we have barefaced comfy Bailey that makes us feel like we're gossiping over a bottle of wine with our bestie on a Thursday. I'm here for all of it.
I’ve always told everyone when recommending her videos that’s it’s like talking to your bestie ❤
Cheers to that! 🥂🤗
❤🥂🤗🏴
Wait..the only time she's barefaced is during ad reads lol
My favorite Josephine Baker story is how she performed at the "battle of versailles" an epic fashion show in France in 1973. The battle pitted top French designers (Yves Saint Laurent, Pierre Cardin, Emanuel Ungaro, Marc Bohan, and Hubert de Givenchy) against American designers (Oscar de la Renta, Stephen Burrows, Halston, Bill Blass, and Anne Klein, who brought along her assistant, Donna Karan). The french models were very formal and walked with classical music, but the American designers had alot of black models who moved and danced down the runway to loud disco music. Josephine was reportedly so moved by how far America had come she went over to the American models dressing rooms and wept tears of joy. 🥺
Lovely! I love this lil side bar! Beautiful
And the Americans won, thanks to those models!
The diversity in your stories is stellar. Black History, the same as my people ( Indigenous) deserves to be told TRUTHFULLY AND FULLY. Thank you so much for covering the amazing Josephine Baker. Although I knew much about her, I definitely didn't know all. She was absolutely stunning, graceful and a Warrior. I'm thankful to have learned more about her. History being told in truth is power.
Wado. 🏹
My favorite thing about the way you told this story was waiting 20 mins in to reveal that all of that happend before she was EIGHT YEARS OLD. I'm over hear imagining a whole teenager/young adult. That's wild. Great storytelling
Bailey please do an episode on the dark history of nursery rhymes. I feel like it'd be pretty interesting
I 1000% second this
Ring around the rosy...
@@grrrlykat9 Yep
yes please :)
🎵London Bridges falling down...🎵
So as a side note about the Chiquita banana girl- that was Carmen Miranda.. who ended up being an equally amazing superstar of her day 😉 I only know this because my mother dressed me up in that outfit for more Halloweens than I want to admit 😂 Thank you for being such an amazing storyteller, Bailey!!! I look forward to each and every episode 🫶
Josephine is incredibly important to us Frenchies, she's buried at the Pantheon which is the highest honor we could give to one of our citizens. She gave so much for our country and our popular culture 🥰
That's awesome
C'est awesome haha
Bailey, you don’t understand what it means to me, TO US for you to cover this. I’m literally in tears because she is being seen, which means us those who look like her who struggle are seen to. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU,
i love how lately, in most uploads, bailey just comes on camera like "hi bozos. tats & tiddies out. you're welcome." truly, thank you for your service, madam.
i promise i'm also excited about the episode but i already listened yesterday & i am a very simple organism
This was a perfect description. I love it!
No, but seriously… I’m enjoying the tats and tiddies being out.
@@solene2014then don’t watch her?? This comment was very unnecessary and unkind.
@@solene2014ur very rude. why look threw her comments then hate on her if u jealous just say that 🙀
I elect Bailey to be our next spyfluencer ❤
a TWO PART dark history story?! thank u bestie!!!!!!!!❤
Josephine Baker is one of my faves to read about! So interesting and amazing how she's remembered and celebrated now. Can't wait to dive in to this and later part 2!! Bailey always does a fantastic job.
I’m still waiting for Claudette Colvin ❤❤ she’s the girl who inspired Rosa Parks
Listening to this in the beginning, i keep forgetting that she is only kid dealing with all of that at 7/ 8 years old.
Being a black woman from St. Louis, Josephine Baker was always honored when I was growing up. When the movie came out it was a big deal. I thought I knew everything about her, but you showed me!!! They will have to remake her biography because of you Bailey. 👍🏾
I’d love to see a dark history episode about Betty Boop I’ve been looking up old episodes and it’s so creepy to me
Bailey, I am 72 and you send me into helpless giggles. This is a great gift and I treasure you, you cheeky doll.
Bailey, for the longest time, I’ve wanted to ask you a question:
Would you ever consider giving us a tattoo tour? You know, sort of a show and tell of your arms, describing your tattoos and what they mean. Yeah, I know. Silly question. But at least I finally got it off my chest. 😄
BTW, chez is pronounced shay. 🙂
I know she's mentioned it in a past video that she won't share this information because each tattoo has a meaning to her and wants to keep it private...but idk
You should write your own version of history books. This one could be a chapter in the book amazing women of history. And you could do an entire dark history anthology
Mother Bailey is supplying us with our dose of true crime😭
That's Mondays
Ms Baker.. She’s an icon ❤ Bailey totally rocking goddess vibes with this long hair!!
Oh my gosh! I love Ms Josephine Baker! So excited for this episode!
ROLE CALL
All those watching Miss Sarians history class say ""PRESENT'' 😊

I’m freaking out! I LOVE JOSEPHINE BAKER!!! ❤️ I am 45 and I have been obsessed with her since 1991 when I find out about her when the movie about her came out on HBO! ❤️ I can’t wait to watch this one! 😁
It was wonderful. I'm sad so many more women don't know who she was .
@@brandyvincent4361 I 100% agree with you! Thankful to Queen Bailey for introducing so much to so many!! 🙏🏻
Joan’s necklace is EVERYTHING 😍🙌🏼 she’s such a skinny queen 👑💎
Hey Bailey! That new set rocks. Stories are great. But what I'm loving the most is seeing you so healthy and happy! ♥️
I’ve always admired Joséphine Baker for being an iconic performer, but I had no idea that she had this backstory. No wonder she was such a strong woman. Her childhood would have broken a lot of people. Can’t wait for next weeks episode!
I just realized she is in Anastasia! When they sing, Paris holds the key to your heart she is totally in that scene!!
Middle child here! I had an entirely choreographed performance to Queen’s Greatest Hits 1 when I was a kid, I used to make my parents watch and also use my brother as a backup dancer/ prop but he never had the main character energy I did.
I have a suggestion! The corruption of coal. I'm from WV and there's a lot of dark history there. Some things to look into is the upper big branch mine explosion, battle of Blair mountain, matewan massacre and Baldwin felts agency to name a few.
Comment to bump
Loving the looks of Joan and Paul 🐦💀 Fabulous job Bailey, love you!!
If you watch the movie Anastasia, you can see her and the cheetah in the part where they are singing about Paris
I have been sooo obsessed with Josephine Baker, this is sooo welcome ❤
Loved hearing about Josephine in the past. Can't wait to dive in with Bailey!!
Joan as captivating as ever.
Happy Thursday ❤
excuse me what??? influencers as spies?? this channel never dissapoints
It was more common than we realize. They had social access to the big wigs when very few did at that time.
Duh! Ever heard of Audrey Hepburn??? Breakfast at Tiffany’s/Belgian spy. Do your homework @kirstenmellerup9223!
Josephine Baker was a super talented singer, dancer and all around fabulous performer, and one of my favorites. Thank you for covering this Icon, and role model for millions! And, bringing her story to newer generations, so that can enjoy her beautiful gifts that she left behind!✌❤🙏
Girl! This is the best ever episode! I recognize Josephine, but I had never heard her story. She was totally amazing! Wow! 😮 I literally CAN'T WAIT until next week's episode! 💯 Thanx for putting in the work and telling us the story factually and comprehensively, but totally conversationally, all while looking super cute! 🔥🖤🥂🖤💋🐆
I had seen J. Baker doing the Charleston and had no idea she was Black , French, or as famous as she was. Can't wait for part 2. And Being a vampire Bailey can chew on my neck anytime she's feeling hungry and needs a little snack! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Was so entranced by Josephine’s story. Excited for part 2 ❤
Love that cheeky grin you got in the thumbnail lol.
Fine wine popping every Monday’s and Thursdays. What a Madam
Yyyaaasss Bailey uploads I have a better workout!!
Edit; seriously from 7 to 21??? This soul was strong!!! Beautiful!
This feels like Bailey Monday's classics 😊❤😂
1:50 If Carmen San Diego taught me anything is, if you go on the run, learn to hate what you used to love and love what you used to hate 😂😊
MS. BAKER (& HER RAINBOW TRIBE) IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE HUMANS OF ALL TIME.
HER STORY IS AN INSPIRATION.
YOU DID A GREAT JOB BAILEY!!!
This was awesome thank you Bailey! ❤ Josephine Baker is a GODDESS!
This might sound weird... But it's actually nice to hear of someone who was abused and neglected, growing up to accomplish a productive life.
yes. love that you cover icons like Ms. Josephine Baker. such an amazing person that really changed history.
What an important and incredible person in our history!!! I love this so much!
brb telling my boyfriend i can’t come online until i’ve binged watched this 😭❤️
Josephine is one of my favorites. I am so excited that so many others are going to learn her legacy from Bailey!
Bailey your hair and makeup lewk is STUNNING. 😍 So pretty!
Gotta admit I've been a bit down this past week, its coming up to the anniversary of when my Sylar (cat) died and I just discovered a tumour growing on Blair (rat). So when the notification for this popped up it pepped me up. I don't know how Bailey does it but she makes it feel like she's having a conversation with friends. Thank you Bailey.
“Or maybe from my favourite horizontal collaborator, no Coco Chanel”. Yas, I remember that episode.
Hello, my love. The very announcement of the topic intrigues me, so I start watching it right away. I love Dark History, as well as your channel MMM Monday😜 Great intro by the way. ❤❤❤❤😘😘😘😘Lots of Love
"Dictimized!" My new word!
Cheetahs are pretty much the chillest big cats. Doesn't mean you should have them as a pet as they deserve to be wild. But they're really chill.
She sounds AMAZING 👏, I cant wait until next week 😍
Absolute icon, thank you for covering her! 💚
I LOVED this story!
Harriet the Spy had me running around acting sick😂 now I have to watch it today😊😂such a great movie.
I am also OBSESSED with female spies. 🕵🏻♀️
Hi Bailey! I've been listening to you way more often now that I lost my job and started doing my art full time!!!! Anastasia is my fave movie! If you watch it at the "Pris holds the key to your heart" song you can see a very stylish woman walking around with a cheetah on a leash!!!!
Yay! I watched a number from one of her French films and remarked on how beautiful her voice is.
Thank you for making this video. as a performer, Josephine is one of my role models and influences!! ❤️
Bailey you make my week every week!! Totally obsessed been watching for yrs. Your gorgeous end witty, and I could listen to you tell stories for hours.❤
Love the topic you chose this week! 😍 Josephine Baker was a beautiful badass woman! PS I ordered Wisteria glitter eye gel recently I can't wait to play with it 🥰
So happy you are spotlighting Josephine Baker! She was an incredible woman & her amazing life needs to be showcased.
josephine is a literal queen!! so cool to learn about her backstory ❤
Honestly Bailes, I have been stuck on Mr Ballen lately, but I'm so freaking glad to see you again rockin a story of another AMAZING woman! You look gorge, and I appreciate you spreading the horrible, amusing, wild and fantastic journey of Josephine! 🥰
As a St. Louisan, I've always though it was so cool that she's from here!
What an interesting life she lived.
I enjoyed this story and Josephine is someone who truly keeps pushing. I can't wait to see what part two will bring. Much love to you!
Wow, this was great! Can hardly wait for part 2 🙌🏼
Yay! Big claps for Paul and Joan Crowford ❤
I love you so much Bailey for talking about Josephine Baker. Her and Dorothy Dandridge are black women who have inspired me in so many ways.

You're seriously the only thing that has been keeping me awake at work tonight. Thank you! :D
Its the most wonderful day of the week! As always you are a rockstar and stay true to you! Love you ❤🐝🌻❤️
My daughter (7) is doing her Chautauqua for school on Josephine Baker this year, so it’s crazy that this is your DH this week. Crazy.
Oooo! Wrote my final paper on her when I was in grad school. I had a class on the Harlem Renaissance.
Thank you for this!
You are amazing and I adore you.
I absolutely love these videos and the MMM videos, Thank you for making them they take my mind off the physical pain I am in for a little while.
Love you, Bailey! Thank you for dropping your knowledge ❤
I watch your videos while cooking, makes my time fly by. But my husband started demanding that I watch old videos just because he loves to listen! I'm beyond thankful for what you have done for me mentally!
