I have had one of these for 3 years and had no idea they were this expensive! An old colleague found it at work and gave it to me because he knew I like stationary. Today my cat dropped on the floor and when I picked it up I noticed the tiny writing “Graf Von Faber-Castell” and I thought it was a brand copying their name. When I looked it up I could not believe my eyes... after this review I think I am actually going to buy the pencil replacement and put it to good use instead of leaving it on the shelf. Thank you for this amazing review.

This is the most thorough review of The Perfect Pencil that I have found to date. While I like the platinum version, there are a couple of things that enrage me: first and foremost, the crappy sharpener. It is below par, let's be honest, especially for a high-cost item like this. I don't how Graf von Faber-Castell can get away with this. I have Dollar Store sharpeners that are better than this. For an item at this price point, you should receive at least a Pollux-quality sharpener. In addition, not only can you not change the blade, but your only option is to buy a full replacement unit that costs over $30! With the same terrible sharpener! GvF-C gouges their customers. Finally, the replacement pencils are very expensive and do not even come with replacement erasers--Graf von Faber-Castell literally nickel-and-dimes you. Really, they can't even throw in a couple of little erasers??? The whole thing is a con. Once you use up the pencil, you must, of course, discard it--along with its heavy machined steel ferule, which to me feels quite wasteful. But then, the whole concept is wasteful.

The cap for the eraser looks like it has the same size of a tire valve cap. Can you try one and tell us if it does fit? In case somone loses the original eraser cap...

Hi great video! Thank you! I'm about to buy one, but i just need to know is that pencil fit the standart sharpener? I mean can i sharp this pencil with the other standart sharpener? Or should i always use the sharpener inside the cap? Thank you again for the review!

Just tested! It works great. I think it’s the same as their green or opaque white eraser. Which is a great eraser that works well for graphite and colored pencils.

One of my fears is things not getting used so I’ll try to use it as much as I can at least at first. My sister got a silver pen from Tiffany’s as a gift. She doesn’t use it. Not me. I would be using the heck out of it. At least at first. Do get it out and give your fancy pencil a go!
