    I work with a Marty. And let me you tell. My job is now harder. Time wasted cleaning up not existing spills. These things don’t actively scan and report. The scan and catalog the mess until the code reaches the spill then it will notify. It will call out messes on the other side of the store out of eye shot. Waste of time for everyone.

      @Yellowshirtmann Před 5 lety +7

      Hate to break it to you these ai robots arent there to check spills...thats a ruse by your employer they are getting people comfortable with seeing these machines so they can roll out skynet any day now. Oh yeah your faces are getting scanned too

      They are they to keep an eye on the remaining employees, and on customers. Notice Marty's big eyes? That is the not-so-subtle message: I'm watching you. Videoing you. And one day I may "detain" you. Or just zap you.

      Yep. Just like everything corporate wants to implement. Time consuming. Just get it done in less hours per week. Sorry. You cannot replace a seasoned grocery store veteran. Sorry…..most employees know when there are out of stocks and can tell you immediately. Well……accept for the kids they hire today. The only way these things can be considered efficient is if you eliminate your entire experienced staff and hire a bunch of people off the streets who no nothing. Then it. I gut be efficient. 🤷‍♂️🤣🤣🤣

    Bosa Nova will scan by a group of employees standing around goofing off and alert the manager to call them all into the office to get a written warning. LOL.

    Companies watching the 'bottom Line' don't invest many thousands of dollars in a robot to help make the janitor's job easier. Janitors WILL get 'let go', and then companies hire ONE worker for part-time. Robots don't get sick leave and vacation time. JUST SAY'IN.

    They have been trying to sell these AI robots as store greeters for at least 5 to 10 years but to be honest this is the 1st time I've heard of them coming up at a national chain. There won't be any jobs around pretty soon my friend robotics and computers will take them all. Just wait until they perfect quantum computing. You haven't seen anything yet. Even Google financed one for 50 mil for a university to perform research algorithms.

      Killing jobs will not build economy these companies want. You can never fully remove the human. Once there's no jobs there's no circulating money to provide an economy. No economy fall of roam. I guess only the rich will survive that's the plan anyway.

    i rather have a robot doing the shopping than anything else. if it could buy items on a list and put it in a shopping bag and leave the store by itself it would show some level of awareness. pattern recognition would be by now best to be part of a decision tree based program based on sub routines that can identifiy objects, transelate into text strings that is used to adress different objects apart so that a computer can read a list of items that it uses names to adress the objects in its pattern recognizer and then use that to find the real object locating its way trough the store. the real problem of ai is to make the program navigate by pattern recognition. it have to map what product is next to another and categorize where everything is to each other. it will take a lot of labels to make the decision tree tell apart what it will tell the pattern recognizer to look for. this way the robot can be a little more like humans. this way the robot could navigate any store and map all the locations of stuff everywhere it goes into a internal tree of labels that tells the recognizer what to look for. the brain in this case is a learning decision tree combined with a pattern recognizer that is also learning where the rudimentary thinking is inside the decision tree logic. let say the decision tree tells network to look for oranges, the pattern recognizer can be instructed to recognzie what ever is in front of it, then return a label of a product, then the decision tree will recognize the label and then know how that lable relate to other labels that tells the robot if its closer to the oranges or further away. you can use this to tell direction for the robot to move it to get closer to the item you want it to find. you just play a maze game this way and if decision tree notice it get closer to the right location it tell the pattern recognizer to scan what ever in front of it again for once again to return a label. then compare the label with its inventory map and then decide direction. the process repeats unitl it find the product. all these moves can also be mapped into another pattern recognizer specialized for maze tasks to easier find the same product later. to do it all in the pattern recognizer is to complicated for the moment so its easier to break thinks into pieces but this is how i see how it chould work or perhaps my dream of how ai show signs of awareness and thinking.

    if you have moving robots and overhead cameras, you can actually manipulate the flow of traffic to make it easier for people to get around... well, lets hope that's how stores use it, and not corralling people into isles with impulse purchases, that would get old QUICK.

    • @betterlifeexe4378
      @betterlifeexe4378 Před 3 lety

      and before someone else points it out, I already know this is why they put impulse items at the checkout where everyone walks by, and that's where it should stay. There's a big difference between putting commonly purchased items within reach and coercing groups of people into an area to purchase products. I think people would pick up on it too.

    Within 20 years we will no longer have people working like machines doing the same repetitive task literally hundreds of times. No more human potential will be wasted on menial labor. Instead, humans will be doing things that we're good at, like socializing, forming meaningful long term relationships, creating artwork (which is only meaningful if it has a message which I don't think AI will be able to do for a long time if ever), and working with AI enabled CAD programs to design technology with a whole new level of complexity.

    Check out Amazon Go stores, Richard. You can walk in, pick up things and place them in your basket, and leave. Everything is paid for through RFID and your phone. You can also find the items you're looking for with your phone. Inventory is always taken care of because of RFID, so they probably dont need those camera based inventory scanning bots you showed.
